Review: Best tough flash drive - These are my favorite USB drives for emergency backups. They're a little bulky, but nearly indestructible and are a great way to store essential files on the go to ensure you keep your info like old photos and records in case of an emergency like fires or flooding.
Review: Works for me. - I have 8 of these units in service now, anywhere from 16 Gig to 128 Gig, with one rubber casing, and the other 7 in the "Survivor" tubes. They are doing laptop backup, home and car audio, amateur radio work, riding in my pocket on the choppers, etc. And I have yet to lose so much as one binary bit of data. Lessons learned over 5 years: The first (16 Gig) rubber casing unit I bought did have the casing pull off after about 8 months. Super glue in the casing (at a static station) restored it with no data lost. That drove me to the Survivor series. Do glue the black rubber rings to the ends of the tubes unless your in really tight quarters for fit. You do NOT want to see what happens when one of those rings gets down a running garbage disposal. I have had no trouble with data integrity on Windows, Linux, Mac, or our own proprietary operating systems. I have had a 64 Gig survivor spend around 20 minutes under 18 feet of water, and go like a scalded cat error free once it was given 5 minutes in front of a hot (hair) blow dryer. Also, I did have a 32 Gig Survivor trip an alert on a security scanner one time at the airport (in Canada). But we could not get the problem to repeat itself on any other scanner at that airport, or any other airport after about 45 tries to duplicate the problem. I even contacted Corsair, and up until that time anyway, I was the only one to report the "false alarm" to them. It's probably about 3 more weeks until my files will dictate another unit, at which point I'll pick up a 256 Gig Survivor. Also of note, the newest 128 Gig unit I bought is about .25 inch shorter than the earlier Survivors. It makes for an easier ride through the day in your pocket for some reason. 5 stars for the Survivors from my perspective.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: where is it made? Taiwan?**
A: Regardless of where this is made there are really only two components to fail. 1) The physical flash drive 2) The housing. The housing is quality, it is anodized, and you will notice a little bit of the anodizing will wear off if you use a 1" split key ring. The flash drive is built like a brick _____ house, and will withstand abuse. The flash drive allows you to speed up transfer speeds up to USB 3.1. For the money this flash drive is awesome.

**Q: How well does this hold up on a keyring with car keys?**
A: The question you should be asking is how well will the USB port that you plug the device into hold up with the added mass of the keys/etc. hanging from the end of it. Hopefully, that won't be a great deal of weight - but the USB port really wasn't designed to hold much, and being at the end of the flash drive, its significance will be greater than otherwise (e.g., it's easier to break a thing by placing your weight on the end of a long pry bar than on the end of a short one). If your USB port is low enough that your keys will be supported by the table or counter instead of hanging from the flash drive (and, therefore, the USB port), you may safely disregard this, I suppose.

**Q: Has anyone had any problems with this drive recently? I've read some reviews on this that says they experienced a sudden drop in storage capacity**
A: Yes, after a year of usage some of my devices will not read the information any longer. I purchased a 2nd one and had the same issue and it is several months old.

**Q: How is the quality of it?**
A: Works just fine! Certainly well protected, as well.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good and durable
*by J***R on August 24, 2026*

I stuck VenToy and a bunch of Linux distros on it. Holds up well and fits them all nicely. I don't think it's actually waterproof but I'm sure it's water resistant which is all I need. They should bring it back with a USB-C option.
