The Timberline Chainsaw Sharpener is a newly patented tool that takes precision and accuracy to a new level. The chain remains on the saw and the tool clamps on the bar and allows the chain to be pulled through as each tooth is sharpened. A high-grade tungsten carbide cutter is hand turned with a handle. Only a small amount of material is removed from each tooth resulting in much longer chain life. Carbide guides are fixed at a universal angle of 30 degree while 25 and 35 degree guides are offered separately.

Worth every cent
First I'll start off by saying I've never wrote a review before on anything.Second - WOW!I cut around 15 cords a year for our outdoor wood boiler. We live be in the upper Midwest where winter usually stays for the long haul. I use a MS 391 Stihl and exclusively cut hard wood. So obviously I can dull a chain quick. This saves not only time switching chains but aids in me in knowing that every time I sharpen a chain it comes out just as good as new (or better).I used to take a file every other tank a gas and get mediocre results. Now, its smooth cutting.I will say this though:Make sure you oil & clean the ports. I use a Q-Tip and it works just fine. Also, you'll have to make sure to adjust your rakers accordingly.Lastly, put an ad on craigslist to sharpen other people chains AND be sure to brag to all your friends about this little guy.

This is a great product; able to obtain razor sharp
This is a great product; able to obtain razor sharp, uniform teeth right away--the written instructions are very good & the video on the mfg. website isalso very helpful. The tool & carrying case look & feel to be very well made. The company marketing this sharpener was very quick to fillmy order. There was a bit of a glitch in that the wrong size carbide cutter was in the order. The good news is that the customer service rep.,"Becky" almost immediately saw to it that the correct cutter was sent very quickly. GREAT customer service.

Excellent
Product is great. Takes a little practice be efficient. At first it was quicker to sharpen with a file. But with a little practice I became more effecient with this tool. Make sure you order the right size for your chain tooth, and make sure you sharpen in the ccw direction. The quality and finish of the sharpener is excellent.

Pretty easy but read the tips for use
Used it a few times. Pretty easy but read the tips for use.Like the small form factor, fast, and zero electricity needed. All the drills I looked at take up space, have sketchy reviews, or cost way more.I've used a traditional file before which is easy and quick but eventually leads to uneven wear.

Quick and easy. Worth every penny.
Quick and easy. Worth every penny. So much better than I was expecting. It really takes the setup and guess work out of the process. It's great on the bench and in the field. Small enough that you can take it with you in your kit. Easy enough you dont feel like you need to go back to the shop to do it.

Very nice sharpener. The quality of the item is good
Very nice sharpener. The quality of the item is good. The design of the unit makes chain sharpening easy as long as you follow the instructions. And, yes, this thing will sharpen your chain better than a saw shop. I took a star off for the price. If you only use your chainsaw once or twice a year, it wouldn't make sense to purchase this sharpener.

Awesome
Ordered this with two bits. One for each chainsaw. This thing is slick. Easy to use. Easy to set up on the second chain saw. I thought my chains were sharp until I used this. I also used it after I had used a regular file to sharpen my chains. So much better after the Timberline Sharpener.I also spoke to the manufacturer prior to my purchase. Mike was a ton of help in getting me the right bits for each saw. 100% recommend to everyone.
