her website bearing the same name and then got to interact with her in real life through her fantastic quarterly Club Soda mixers here in NYC
To know Ruby in real life is to be enchanted by her and the same can be said of her book. I became familiar with Ruby through her the_numinous account on Instagram, her website bearing the same name and then got to interact with her in real life through her fantastic quarterly Club Soda mixers here in NYC. It was through all of these things that I found out she was launching a book. The writing style displayed in it allows Ruby's warm, intelligent and caring personality to shine through. Though I'm extremely familiar with the topics covered here (astrology, tarot readings, meditation techniques, crystal healing, detoxes, etc.) I think this is the perfect book for present day, as it shows how we can combine our love of all things stylish and modern with the metaphysical, eternal and spiritual. It is possible to be moved by beautiful things and to want them in our lives while walking a path of spirituality that allows us to give of ourselves and connect more deeply with others. They are all tools that can be fused together to create a life of deep meaning as opposed to chasing after the ephemeral qualities of "happiness" or "positivity"--topics which I feel have been exhausted and misappropriated in the literary landscape. Ruby does not promise her readers rainbows, unicorns and every day raves (though she does touch on the rave experience in her book briefly) but she does show readers that they too can connect with the Divine in both big and small ways whenever and however they wish, without any special middleman or dogma necessary. A great read all around. I am a particularly fast reader, though I dragged this one out on purpose. I found reading this book to be especially fun, soothing and comforting--especially while sitting on NYC subway trains. I think this will be the first of many beautiful books to be written by Ruby! Congratulations!

Ace new Ager actually says to read a new Age book with sex in it
I had to sit and mull over abit after I finished this book. Alot of it I did like, but there were some small pieces that made me uneasy. Now, most people reading this book and books like this are most likley fine with sex and fine with dating. As a member of the 1% of the population who is Asexual, and who is also Aromantic,I found the pages on sex and the idea that romantic love was the best idea abit uncomfortable. I know this will make many puzzled on why I am even mentioning this. Some people who are currently shifting into the new Age may be non-sexual for various reasons. I see many New Agers claim hangs on sex is just a throw back from Christianity. It could be for some but not for all. So, if you fall into that very small group in the new age that don't want yet another book on how embracing sex is highly spiritual, you don't actually need to pass on this. That DOES come up but its very small part of the book.Another semi issue, there is a small exercise where it says to look for your Pisces to see where your birth chart rules your pyshic nature, not everyone has Pisces in their birth chart. You won't have every sign in your birth chart. So if your someone without Pisces in your chart, you may feel stumped on that one. I actually thought I was in that camp but lucky for me a Facebook group I'm in found it for me on my birth chart.

Spiritual Tool Belt
Sometimes a piece of art or literature arrives at the EXACT perfect time-as if you placed an order at a cosmic counter cooked by a clairvoyant chef, delivering both what you want and need in the same mouthful. In my case, ‘Material Girl, Mystical World’ is that book, that mind-reading meal that nourished both what I already sought and didn’t know I was missing. MGMW remains the only book I’ve ever pre-ordered, but I was compelled to when I realized I’d been devouring the free offerings on author Ruby Warrington’s online magazine ‘the Numinous’ for months. This book stitches together the many seams of the site (astrology, tarot, health, healing, meditation, crystals, fashion and feminism), giving each their own sacred exploration. Yet phrases like ‘sacred exploration’ make it sound lofty, when in fact it’s an approachable, contemporary and FUN read! By sharing her own experiences of skepticism, trauma, curiosity, vulnerability, inspiration and ultimately ‘higher self-ishness,’ she holds space for us readers to be honest with ourselves. Like all good spiritual guides, Ruby helps us uncover truths already crouching within. And like all great journalists, she does the legwork and introduces us to people, philosophies and perspectives that refresh and inspire, regardless of whether we’ve explored them before. The interviewer’s instincts she cultivated as a fashion writer are put to powerful use here, as she seeks sources, leaders and teachers who take an inclusive approach to the ‘Now Age,’ illuminating just how accessible a ‘high vibe life’ can be. I’m so grateful to include this book in my spiritual tool belt!

... few books that have made me cry tears of happiness in every chapter
There are few books that have made me cry tears of happiness in every chapter. This book will leave you feel enlightened at the very least. It's a great intro for women who are looking to live a more holistic and shamanic life (although i would suggest this book for EVERY woman to read no matter who they are). It can be a great jumping off point for women who want to learn more about astrology, the divine feminine, yoga/wellness, intuition, crystals, the tarot, etc. The resources and other contributors mentioned in this book are very valuable and relevant to further exploration of topics found in these pages. This book is written so genuinely it's no secret Ruby put her heart and soul into writing it. I love how she encourages the reader to connect with our own dharma, and loosens the reigns from the concept of 'this is how it has to be done' to 'this is how i do it, but choose your own way.' She provides a lifetimes worth of insight on topic such as how women's menstrual cycles connect to the cycles of the moon, and most importantly ways to be self-aware and comfortable with yourself, which ALL women should know about. THANK YOU RUBY for sharing your baby with the world. I HIGHLY recommend this book to any woman, because when one of us benefits we all prosper ❤️-K

At the beginning of your spiritual and mystical journey? Start here.
I recommend this as the place everyone should start their mystical journey. If you’re interested in learning more about ‘witchy’ practices but feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of spiritual materialism; crystal lingo and tarot jargon to boot, or are unsure where to start, then this handbook will be your best friend. Ruby Warrington introduces the basics on all matters of this mystical world - helping you get to grips with astrology, spirit animals, yoga, tarot, moon magic, plant medicine; if it’s mystical then it’s in this book, basically. I loved reading this because Ruby writes with such honesty and elation towards her discoveries; she doesn’t pretend to have always known the answers or everything there is to know about the mystical world but shares how she became to know what she does now, which makes it a very inviting and inclusive read, regardless of whether you yet know your Amethyst from your Aventurine.

Well writen, bravely told and a needed open invitation to society for a spiritual revolution!
This is a quietly important read for young woman up wards in an age where pressure to be 'happy' and perform outstandingly in everything is immense. As a non religious woman exploring spirituality for the sake of health and peace I found much to resonate with in the book. Although some of the practices introduced didn't strike a cord the writing throughout is personable and meaningful. Ruby Warrington writes openly and bravely both about her past and traumas and her 'now' experiences and experimentation with spirituality. Broaching subjects that very much need to be introduced into the mainstream if this world of ours is going to find a more harmonious way of moving forward. An empowering book for women.

Life-Changing!
When I was a child I was naturally drawn to crystals and healing passionately curious for knowledge. I drifted away from it, and in a way had forgotten that part of me. Ruby's book reawakened my love for all things 'Numinous' and ignited my passion again. A reminder to listen to myself and understand my true 'Dharma', who I am, what I'm meant to do in this lifetime. Her tone made the book feel like she was really talking to me, like a friend helping me out. She writes with such honesty and openess, so effortlessly natural and real. It was a gentle wake up call and has given me the courage to take a leap, believe again and understand the power of all these magical things that can help us on our journey. It came at a point when I was in a huge transition and feel like it was a gift from the universe to act as a light. So from the bottom of my heart (chakra) ... this book has truly changed my life, I tell all my friends about it and highly recommend it to everyone! Thank you Ruby! xxx

Spirituality for the newly spiritual
Love love LOVE this book! As someone only just starting out on their spiritual journey and worrying what others might think I found this book incredibly honest and obviously written by someone living in the real world. Whilst I'm no fashionista the references to that world gave the author real credibility as someone who hadn't necessarily taken the 'usual' route to spirituality. I've enjoyed this so much I've bought it in audible format also and it's a great listen whilst in the car. I'm constantly amazed how I seem to be listening to just the right bit at just the right time. OH MY UNIVERSE!! This book is just what I needed.

Changed my life
I was always a great believer of the stars and astrology and teased by always know when Mercury is in Retrograde or why I always read my Sun, Moon and Rising signs on the daily horoscope and how it influences your person.Being able to understand astrology (or at least some of it!) Is certainly one of the things that I really want to do in life and this book is a great begginers guide. All props to Ruby and The Numinous.
