Excellent history of this very unique and strange aircraft.
At last I can read about this strange aircraft. I bought the model of of this aircraft a few weeks ago. I always wanted to try making the model as well as possible. Up until now details were rare to find. I didn't know what the chequered squares on the underside of the fuselage were for or the fact the underside of wings weren't painted blue all the way to the fuselage there were in fact black paint. The book is a fascinating insight to the whole forward wing concept for aircraft. The book is full of photographs, technical details, data. I don't think there can be much more to be known about this aircraft beyond this book. An absolute treasure trove of information for aviation enthusiasts, Luft"46 nuts and researchers. One word though: it appears this series of books appears to be somewhat expensive, some eye watering so!If you want these books I'd get them soon as they will get more expensive rapidly.

Excellent!
Yet another excellent book in this series by Classic Books. For those interested in German aircraft of World War II, this is well worth the investment. The Junkers Ju-287 pioneered the use of forward-swept wings. The approach was not tried again until the Grumman X-29 aircraft, which first flew in 1984. The challenge presented by this wing form is the twisting moments exerted on forward-swept wings while the aircraft is in flight. The first two chapters of the book are devoted to the evolution of the forward-swept wing from 1835 through 1945. The remaining chapters are excellent descriptions of the life of these aircraft in the same vein as other books in the series. The well written text along with numerous photographs and drawings make this a superb resource.

Good read & excellent reference
Very enjoyable read. Broad coverage of the history of forward swept wing development provides full context for the Ju-287 story. Great detail and excellent photo-image reproduction makes it a great reference for the aviation buff as well as the model builder - very thorough treatise includes accurate scaled drawings and clear, detailed images. I obtained the book primarily as research for a modeling project but also enjoyed the yarn. Recommended.

Outstanding
An outstanding and very complete history of one of Germany's aviation experiments. The inclusion of the Soviet results really completes the cycle. I highly recommend it.

Recommended
A great book - as much about the history of forward swept wing aircraft as the Junkers Ju 287 - a very interesting read and it flew! A quality publication - get it while you can at a bargain price.

An aircraft I was aware of.
I bought this book knowing very little of the 287, saw the occasional photo that was all, it was a footnote in history no more. This book does much more it shows the reader what was up and coming and what might well have been over GB had the war lasted another year or German research been progressed earlier..In many ways "what if" but this aside you get a lot from this book not least the interest taken but the major powers in taking up on these advances and using those who had taken them thus far.Hard to fault this book another nice edition to what is a good series.just wish the publishers would do a re run on books one and two.For the money a good buy.

Great book but slightly missleading title
This book is mostly about the Ju 287, BUT it also cower a lot of other forwards swept wing design, both older and newer then the Ju 287. But the cover of the Ju 287 is as deep as possible i think.
