I love Shannon Hale, and I loved seeing a new style of her writing after reading the Books of Bayern and Princess Academy. I love the genre, romance, and the clarity and importance Hale brings to life. The main character Maisie is quirky, smart, and intuitive and seems so real and alive. This book is very fast paced and filled with plot twists, but shocking events made me have to take breaks from reading and not finish it as fast as I usually do. Would not recommend this for late night reading or for reading where you might get distractions. This book is definitely for teenagers, there are many more sensitive subjects covered such as death, suicide, nightmares, and sex. Review: New look for Shannon Hale--cautiously optimistic... - If you are looking for your typical Shannon Hale book, don't stop here! That being said, I really enjoyed reading Dangerous. I honestly am amazed by Shannon's imagination, but she makes it all work. The only disappointing thing in the book was the little steamy scene that really didn't have a lot to do with the book. Yes, we got the idea that she really "craved this boy", but the only reason I could even come up with for putting it in the book was to give girls an idea of how to say no to a boy, and let them know it is ok to do so. The hard thing for me has been the fact I could ALWAYS recommend Shannon Hale to the kids at school, and having 7th through 12th, I now will give them a little disclaimer. I was fortunate enough to get 2 free copies from an elementary school librarian, who obviously felt like she could just trust Shannon on her previous merits, but alas, she found out that wasn't true. Again, I really did like the book a lot and have a young man that reads a lot reviewing it for me now. It is on the Beehive YA Nominee Book list for 2014/15. I would probably add a .5 to my score, but can't give it a 5. It is set up for a follow up book, and I hope that is in her plans. :O) I know she can't have much time to think with all her little kiddies, but I really would like to see more of Maisie Danger Brown!

Loved it
I was a little hesitant to read this because of the mediocre reviews, but I'm so glad I did. This is one of my favorite books in awhile. It may be a little intense for young readers, but I loved it (I'm a 35-year-old mother of 4). The pace was pretty fast, but I don't feel like anything was left out. Some authors seem to try to stretch one book into three, but this was more like the opposite, she fit a lot of story into one book (in the best sense). She could have dragged it out into three separate books, but it works great as one. I would definitely recommend this book!

Dangerously awesome
This is my second time reading Dangerous and I still could not put it down. I love the main characters thoughts and analogies! I wanted to read it again, because last time I was flipping pages so fast to see what happened; that was about a year ago. This time was even better and I STILL had to keep reading to see what happened. Shannon Hale is a master story teller--no matter the genre--this just proves it. A YA sci-fi book is different than her fairy tales, yet still so imaginative and fun. Thanks for sharing your awesome talent with us!

awesome read!
There aren't enough words to describe this book and, really. I don't want to give away much. The book is about a homeschoolers who dreams of becoming an astronaut. Only problem is she's missing part of an arm. She enters a contest, wins, and goes to astronaut boot camp run by a, well, mad scientist type. There she meets others who are equally uncomfortable with who they are and then they win the "fire team" competitions, and this is where the story really takes off. It is action, adventure, science fiction, and typical teen angst all rolled into one incredible package. Definitely worth reading.

Great book in poor shape
I bought the book to give to my great niece but the condition of the book was messy. It is a great read by an author we really like but there were three stickers that were impossible to remove and marker on the edge of the book. One of the stickers said 99 cents - not what I paid for the book!

It is a fantasy story.
I liked it because I have read her other books . I like the way she writes.

riveting, thrilling, exciting novel!
Loved it completely. Loved the science, the characters, the non stop adrenaline and especially the ending. Shannon Hale's books are all well worth reading -- her writing is wonderful and engaging with adventure, romance and solid characters, but Dangerous is a quantum leap beyond her previous 'best' books.

Not her best but enjoyable and fast paced all the same Sci Fi based rather than fantasy or fairytale, this is a good introduction to sci fi for younger readers ( thinking about it , there aren't many of those , it's all fantasy ) Maisie 'Danger' Brown is a heroine to cheer for, and hopefully will return for more adventures And the best Shannon Hale? Princess Academy , handsdown

The Actor and the Housewife".
