Just buy it!
This laptop isn’t necessarily the best at any one thing - not the most beautiful screen, not the fastest, not the cheapest, but all the pieces come together to be an amazing experience all together. I love the size, design, screen and the fact that it can be opened and has replaceable SSD.Update: 6 months later... in hindsight I would have bought the 16GB version, but everything else is perfect. Technically 8GB is still fine, but I'm always at 75% RAM utilization, so I always feel like the laptop is about to start paging. It does attract fingerprints, but they clean up very easily because it is metal. I also recently bought a MacBook Pro 13" 2020 as my personal computer with this as my work computer. While the mac is great, the Surface just feels more modern and better. I like the slop of the keyboard, the black color and the 3:2 screen aspect ratio on the surface better (plus the surface is much faster and cheaper)

IT Guy - Quality Laptop
IT guy here, I work in a school district as a computer specialist. I deal with many of the large brands of computer manufacturers on a daily basis. I see the common problems devices have and have gained understanding over the time of being a computer specialist not all products ship out perfectly. At some point in my life, I have had an experience using and working with every major computer manufacturing brand. I settled on this device because it appeared to have quality in both its design, components used, and finish. I was not disappointed. I should also note that I also own a Surface Pro 6. The Surface lineup by Microsoft does not disappoint, and if they continue to design products that poured care into like these devices I will continue to exclusively own these products. The only thing that could possibly be improved on this device is the trackpad, and by being improved doing what those fruit guys do where you can click the trackpad anywhere and it clicks. Happy with my purchase, the full metal body is significantly more premium feeling than having a plastic laptop.

Lightweight laptop
Works pretty much like most laptops, but without no third parties software installed. The laptop has a great design. It can be upgraded to windows 11 in a few days of using it. However, the mousepad really sucks to use. Best to use a mouse instead or use the touchscreen.

One of the best laptops
I’ve had my Surface for about 6 months now and I love it! It is super fast and it looks great! I use it for email, Microsoft 365 applications and some Minecraft gaming. It works great with all of these. I am very happy to be a Surface owner!

So far so good
I got the matte black lowest configuration 13.5" for productivity purposes only. No gaming. I do plan on uploading a review video on my tech YouTube channel in case anyone is curious to know my user experience. But as the title says, so far so good, no issues. I will give it more time and will adjust my rating on this product accordingly if anything changes. The only thing that bothers me which also seems to be a common complaint regarding all surface products is the random adaptive brightness that you can't turn off. I've browsed many forums and other sources for solutions, people going as far as editing the registry... you should not have to jump through that many loops to toggle this display feature. Microsoft, PLEASE GIVE US THE ONE UPDATE THAT ALLOWS US TO DO THAT. Other than that, I do like everything else about the Surface Laptop. Because I can't give half a star, I'm going to give 5/5 hoping Microsoft can just fix this one issue.

Great purchase!!
I was updating my technology from the surface pro three, and decided I wanted a laptop. I am very pleased with my purchase I believe I made the right choice for what I was looking for and want to do and I am extremely happy. I am highly recommend this to anyone wanting a little bit more computing power than just a surface it’s a wonderful computer.

Microsoft Laptop contains many issues compared to other other brands
** Update, I got my laptop back, and it's a refurbished model. I believe the Surface Laptop has a hibernation issue where letting the battery die won't allow the surface to boot. That is my best guess, but I don't know for a fact. This review is staying at one star for many reasons, aside from my laptop breaking down within 6 months and having to wait 2 weeks for a refurbished laptop. This laptop has a manufacturing defect with the screen. The screen may crack with the glass. I heard the screen flex and I got a screen protector as I got nervous. Reading many sources online show this will prevent the screen cracking issue. I shouldn't have to worry about this for an expensive laptop, and Microsoft should issue everyone a screen protector free of charge, similar to the iPhone 4 fiasco. This display is randomly turning off for a few seconds, and then randomly turning on again. This is either a Windows 10 issue, or because of the Refurbished laptop. Regardless it shouldn't happen for an expensive laptop. I have never experienced a second defect in the first year of owning a laptop. My previous laptop was a dell inspiron, and while that had an issue with the hinge, it always worked correctly. The hinge with that laptop got loose as it wasn't screwed in correctly, which caused me to get this laptop. That laptop worked better than this one, and was less money.I am NEVER getting a Microsoft product again as they have a ton of issues. I should at least expect a working laptop where the screen stays on and it can always boot. I fear this laptop won't outlast my previous dell Inspiron of 3 years. Again, the only reason the dell inspiron didn't last me over 3 years is because I didn't screw the hinge tighter after it started to get loose, and caused driver issues with the screen. In Summary, if you get this laptop you will encounter issues.1. A Screen Protector is required with the metal version of the laptop as Microsoft removed the gasket.2. There is a hibernate bug and causing the battery to die may render it unusable.3. My display is randomly going black for a few seconds.A 1,000 product should not have this many issues, and I am an extremely disappointed Surface laptop owner. Any other brand will likely outlast this laptop. My original review below. This laptop works completely as advertised, when it works. Opening the screen allows you to log in straight away, the infared camera is good, although it causes issues with web browsers some times (as of chrome 83 it works correctly). After owning the laptop for 6 months the laptop refuses to turn on. I am shown the Microsoft logo and the laptop refuses to boot up. I have received a refurbished laptop from Microsoft after 2 week. (Apparently their is an issue with Surfaces crashing because of hibernation). My laptop may have had a low battery and went into hibernate, but normal laptops will turn on after charging the battery.

Great job Microsoft
Best laptop I never owned as a Sysadmin windows. Solid, beautiful and well made.I just upgraded to Windows Pro.[+]- awesome quality, feel so good- trackpad and touch screen- powerful processors and hardware- solid AC and unique charging unit- screen quality is incredible- keyboard response (better than my Mac)- temperature keep low on higher cpu- speaker quality- so nice to have a USB 3 (so useful can work with cable without having adapter.) And a USB C that can put a dual screen or docker!- solide camera and Windows hello.- the black finish is amazing.- so More[-]- Windows home, had to update to Pro- only 2 port (USB A and a USB C)- the cost (but worth the price)I recommend the laptop surface

The battery life isn't that great. It covers you for 5-6 hours max.
I use this as my personal laptop. The look and feel of the product is great. The only issue is battery life. The system gives you 5-6 hours in battery power.

It's what you would expect: A High-end Microsoft Computer
I think this is a great computer. I did a quite a bit of research prior to buying my new one, and I settled on the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3. Saw some concerns in the reviews, but I had no issues at all with my order. The computer is all good and pretty, powerful too. Will say that battery life isnt as good as one would expect. Probably cause of the thinner design, the battery takes a big hit most times I used it for intense things like video conferencing. Definitely something to consider if you're going to be always on the road.
