## Overview

The Fotodiox Pro All Metal Black Camera Hand Grip is designed specifically for the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II, providing photographers with enhanced comfort, stability, and easy access to essential components without compromising on style or durability.

## Description

This specially designed, one-piece, all metal camera grip, with smooth machined edges for the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II Mirrorless Micro Four-Thirds Digital Camera gives added comfort and a better, more secure grip on the camera. In addition the metal grip on the bottom and side of the camera gives added protection. The large opening on the bottom is positioned so that the battery and memory card can be easily removed without taking the entire grip off the camera. There is a offset tripod screw socket in the base of the grip which allows the grip to remain in place when mounted on a tripod. The recessed thumb screw wheel does not protrude past the bottom of the grip, so that the the camera will stand on a flat surface without tipping when set down. The color and finish of the grip is designed to specifically match the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II camera making it a sleek, unobtrusive tool for your camera.

Review: Excellent value for money - I wanted a hand grip for my new E-M5 Mk2 but refused to pay the silly prices Olympus were asking for their grips, so with a bit of searching found this one from Fotodiox. I live in the UK and this item isn't available over here so duly ordered through desertcart.com and am pleased to report the part arrived a few days earlier than predicted .. top marks to desertcart/Fotodiox/US Postal service! As for the grip itself, it is manufactured to a high quality, the fit onto the camera is good and everything is accessible (ie battery compartement, rear screen, card slot) as they should be. Attachment is via a thumbwheel on the bottom which presents no problems, and once on the grip is very secure. The finish looks to be a painted speckle finish which closely matches that of the E-M5, and the grip looks good once attached to the camera. This grip has transformed the handling of the E-M5 Mk2; the new grip design Olympus put on the camera body is already much better then the Mk1 but this additional grip now makes the camera feel very secure and handling larger lenses like the 70-300mm is much better. The only very small niggles I have are that the grip itself extends a just little too far forwards for my liking, and there isn't a soft covering (as on the body of the camera) which makes the grip feel hard ... that said these really are very minor and do not detract from the overall quality of the grip. Even when taking into account the costs for shipping and customs duties into the UK this grip is way cheaper than the Olympus equivalent (approximately 40% the cost of the Olympus grip), so taking this and all the other factors into account the 5 star rating is truly deserved. Update: after having the grip attached for the last couple of weeks took it off the other day and noticed that the small rib on the front of the grip had rubbed against the paint of the camera and made a small mark. Not a big problem, but to stop it getting any worse put a small piece of electrical tape on the inside of the rib to protect the paint from the metal rubbing against it.Now I've used the grip 'in anger' for a while I'm even more pleased with my purchase, if I could give 5+ stars I would!
Review: Great Grip - Impressive Quality - I purchased this to use on my Olympus OM-D E-10 iii. This is not a camera I use very often, but when I do use it, I miss having adequate surface area to hold on to. This made a massive improvement to the camera. First off, the construction is solid. Genuine aluminum metal, feels solid and sturdy and has a decent weight to it, you can tell it is of decent quality. It's also well thought out. The battery door is cut out and allows access without having to remove the grip. This makes memory card and battery access simple unlike many other grips. Additionally, there is a tripod mount on the grip. Of course the grip itself attaches via the camera's tripod mount, they have included a mount point on the grip. The front grip area is well designed and follows the lines of the camera. I can let it hang from my fingertips with ease, not to mention the wood-look gives the setup a very nice look. I would totally recommend this grip.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A quality alternative grip assembly.
*by G***N on October 22, 2014*

I am always surprised by the tiny size of gear manufactured for m43s cameras. I don't know why, I know full well just how tiny the E-M10 is; it's just that catalogue photos always make things seem bigger somehow. The photos give them more "presence". The Fotodiox pro grip for the E-M10 is no different. When I opened the box, I was surprised at just how small it is. It fits my camera like a glove. The claim that the user has easy access to the battery and media card port is true. But the A/V - HDMI port on the right side is also available with the grip attached. I'm sure it adds an ounce or two to the total weight of the camera body, but it is not even noticeable to me. The base plate portion of the grip assembly is designed so that the articulated view screen can move without restriction, and the base plate sits flat when attached to the camera. No "wobblies" here. The attachment screw uses the tripod mount socket that is placed right behind the lens, so another tripod mount is provided offset to the left. This won't cause any significant problems for most people; but if you like to do a lot of stitching to make panoramas, it is easier to get photos to match up if the tripod pivot point is directly behind the lens. So for lovers of the panorama photos might want to remove the grip when doing them. But the big question is, does it make the camera easier to hold? And the answer is yes, particularly when I have attached my favorite Legacy lens, the Olympus/Zuiko 14-54 Mk I originally designed for the 4/3s DSLR cameras. Those tele-centric lenses are a tad bit bigger and heavier than native m43s lenses and it makes using those lenses much easier to use. I'm not certain that the smaller m43s kit lens will benefit all that much from a grip like this. It is small enough and light enough that camera movement from a too heavy lens making the assembly out of balance is not much of an issue. I kind of wish the actual grip part was a tad bit more . . . bulbous, it would be an even more comfortable grip. But the size of the camera body itself might work against this, and would certainly be a bit uglier to boot. (gotta be pretty, if you want to sell a lot of them! LOL!) I think a bigger, fatter grip would either cause the grip to be so close to the lens that there wouldn't much room for your fingers between the lens and grip, or, the grip would be expanded around the right side, perhaps blocking access to the A/V - HDMI ports. On the whole though, I find the current design an acceptable compromise between comfort and usability. I can't compare it to the Olympus brand grip, I've never used it. But I think I like the Fotodiox well enough that I have no curiosity about the Oly grip. As I write this, the Fotodiox is cheaper too. It's hard to argue about a product that is well designed and cheaper.
