Coverdale's Psalter

This is a beautifully laid out book of the Myles Coverdale translation of the psalms, still the most popular in the English-speaking world. The size of the book is ideal for serious heavy-duty prayer use. Incorporated unobtrusively for each psalm are the Latin title, both the Hebrew and the Septuagint numbering, the day of the month for Morning and Evening Prayer in the Book of Common Prayer, and the Orthodox Kathisma and Stasis. The only thing I miss is the Hebrew divisions into five books.

Enjoying using this version for daily readings of the Psalms. The layout is very clear and with good spacing. Little symbols mark the psalms for Day and Night, with days of the month at the top of the page. Coverdale's verses resonate as you read them and hang about in the memory.Like another reviewer I would have liked a hardback but I have covered the book with sticky film to strengthen the cover.

It's not accurate to the Greek translation. It tries pretty hard but I have a much better psalter translation. It's a frequent English translation problem. They all suck just in varying degrees. Like humanity these days.

I received my Coverdale Psalter yesterday and I absolutely love it! It is everything I was searching for. I do hope that it will be made into hardcover one day as I will be the first to purchase it.
