I am using it for my stock "top of the tank" filter, cut vertically in the middle and using one part of it, cut about 75% of its length. Rest 25% i use to scrub insides of the tank. These does not look like they are going to unusable within weeks. They are of good quality and probably more useful for heavy duty filters which accumulate a lot of dirt.
