Aquaseal FD Flexible Durable Adhesive

I've used this product on several repairs, and it has performed flawlessly in all casesIn one case I had waterproof rain pants that has tears in both knees. I put the pants flat, poured a bunch of the aquaseal over the tears, over a much wider area than the tear was, left it for a day. Then I applied another coat over the areas again for extra protection/repair. The seal is perfectly waterproof, tough, and even adds protection to my knees when I am kneeling on the ground.The other repairs were on my rubber boots. I have some Irish Setter rubber hunting boots which cost $180 and are the most comfortable, amazing footwear I've ever owned. Recently I was walking through a marsh and somehow tore a 1" slit in the boots near the ball of my big toe. I thought it was the end for my boots. At home, I cleaned the boots thoroughly, washing them, cleaning out the torn gash, then I dried the boots on my boot dryer. Then I wiped the area around the tear with isopropyl alcohol to remove any contaminants and prep the surface to receive the aquaseal. Next I put a "tenacious" patch from another product (an aquaseal wader repair kit) on the INSIDE of the boot, over the tear. Then, on the outside of the boot, I filled the tear with a lot of aquaseal, as well as a liberal amount out the outside of the tear about 1.5" beyond, all around the area. I put the boot laying horizontally to let the aquaseal settle in the tear and over the area. The next day, I applied another coating liberally over the whole area and beyond, for extra strength and sealing. The next day, the repair was complete. I left the tenacious patch inside the boot since it added extra strength as well as kept my socks from rubbing on the aquaseal repair, which is slightly tacky even when cured. The boot repair is incredibly strong, yet flexible, and 100% waterproof. The repair has held up under a day in a marsh, walking/hiking, standing in water, etc. I am thrilled that my amazing boots are totally repaired and I don't have to spend hundreds to replace them.Additionally, on the same boots, there were a few minor areas around the base where the outer rim of the sole was very slightly beginning to separate from the sidewalls of the boot. After cleaning and drying the area as noted above, I poured some aquaseal in the separation/gap areas wherever it looked like it needed it, and pushed it in with a tooth pick, then added some over the area more for better hold. After drying, the area is tight and strong, like new.When done with the product, I wipe the threads of the tube and the inside of the cap with a papertowel with a little isopropyl alcohol, then put the cap on relatively tight. I keep the aquaseal tube stored in a ziploc bag, in the freezer, as noted in some documentation somewhere that I read. When ready to use it again, I put the tube in a container or warm water for 10 minutes and I'm good to go with the next repair.This stuff is fantastic, if you use it properly. Will buy again and again!

Absolutely amazing product !Last year I’d purchased a new pair of Lacrosse hip-boots and on the first outing afield while duck hunting, and wading in knee deep water I slipped near a beaver dam and a sharpened end of a tree limb ripped an “L” shaped hole just above the knee, approximately 2” inches in height and width.After researching this product, and reading the reviews I decided to give Aquaseal FD a try.Both the directions and application of the product were simple, and to my amazement it worked even better than advertised.I’ve been an avid duck hunter for over 50 years, and in the past our only option was to apply a rigid type patch to any hole we had in our waders, and at best it may last for on season before detaching and leaking.Back in the old days, Lacrosse waders were manufactured at a far superior level than this junk they turn out these days, so leaks were rare, but that’s simply not the case anymore with most anything you buy.This Aquaseal product is absolutely the most amazing rubber boot / wader hole repair product I’ve personally ever used.It remains flexible and maintains this elasticity after application, were the old style of applying a rubber patch did not.After applying Aquaseal to my torn Lacrosse hip-boots, it maintained its elasticity, and total seal the entire duck season.I seldom ever comment about products I purchase, and only then if their defective, or not as advertised, but this Aquaseal product deserves a 10 plus star rating, and I highly recommend it to anyone, especially you duck hunters out there who put your rubber boots and waders through harsh, heavy use each duck season.The ole cowboy……..

Great product but why no piercing cap?? If it had that would give a 5 star rating.

In purchasing this product, I had hoped to repair two sets of shoes; one set my own, the other a friends. When I had received it, I found it was of satisfactory size for the repair. Though application was messy, this product was successful, repairing both a wear hole at the heels of my friends shoes, as well as the separating vulcanized of my own shoes! Not bad for the price, and has held up well!

I bought this stuff originally to repair wetsuits. It is great for that. I like to stitch with needle and thread and then work a layer of this into the seam. There are many other uses.

This stuff works! I was so upset after my dog (in an attempt to get a tennis ball I was trying to keep away from her) punctured my brand new rain boots with her tooth. I found a video online that suggested this product. I followed the instructions on the product packaging as well as the tips from the video and was very happy with the results. It’s been several weeks, and several rainy days, and my feet have stayed dry! I included pics of the original puncture, just after application while still wet, and after it dried.Some suggestions for repairing rain boots:1) Wear gloves. The video I watched suggested wearing disposable gloves while applying this...and it was a great tip. This stuff is very sticky, and because it’s clear, it’s hard to see if you’ve gotten it anywhere other than the intended spot.2) Find something to apply it with. The video suggested pulling the cotton off one side of a Q-tip, but I was worried I might get fuzz stuck in the goo, so I used an empty ballpoint pen refill and just tossed it when I was done.3) Don’t skip the “rough up the surface” step. I used a nail file to scuff up the surface of the boot, around where the hole was. I think it helps the goo grip the surface and prevent it from peeling later.4) Tape the inside surface. I used the ballpoint pen to force some of the goo into the puncture hole, to make sure it filled in all the gaps. If I hadn’t applied tape to the inside of the boot, it might have dripped into the footbed as it dried.One thing to note, this stuff is really shiny, even after it dries...and even after weeks of exposure to weather. But, it’s holding up and I didn’t have to replace my boots, so I’d consider it a win.

I had a rip down the seam on my rain coat. It's just made of PVC rain material. I placed a lining of the glue down the seam as luckily for me it didn't rip anywhere else off the seam. I let it cure over night and tried to test it pulling it apart. I was not comfortable pulling it any hard as it was separating at the seam. I flattened the area on the outside and placed another thin layer to bond it with the outside of the jacket with the seam.It was a lot better after I applied the layer on the outside. It's shiny from the light but it's a rain jacket. Testing it out by pulling it, it held good, so good, I stretched the fabric that wasn't bonded. It does have stiff feel with some give. I didn't mess around to much after waters. The sealing is good. No water penetrated after I doused it under running water.Very good product. The only hard part is waiting for the curing time. It recommends 8-12 hours. If you have time I would get this. But if you don't have time, I would instead get the package with cure accelerator which is suppose to cut the time down to 2 hours.I'm not sure if putting it in the freezer is a good idea as the package suggests. But my tube has hardened stiff. If it doesn't soften up when I leave it out as I have another project I have to get to. I'll update the post. Other than that, avoid the fumes.
