NOT THAT EASY TO MAKE AND THE HANDLE IS INEXPENSIVE
I just purchase this item and I am not sure if it will not hold up as many of the reviews have stated. I do know that it is not as easy to make as many of the reviews have stated. You must bend the PVC which in itself is troublesome and then you must thread the PVC. I found a very inexpensive handle from Doller General( it's the handle from the Back-Saver Long Handle Pan) for only $6.00. I do quite a bit of one on one volleyball training so I will update this review once I have used it a few times. It does seem like it will be helpful and if the Noodle starts to deteriorate it will be inexpensive and easy to replace the noodle. REVIEW AFTER USE- I used this item today (11/20/2022) with one of my one on one clients. It was a good tool to give the hitter a perfect set and also to show where a hitter needs to contact the ball when the set is lower that what it should be. The player enjoyed using the hitting aid and it seems like it should hold up fine. My inexpensive handle also worked fine. I have increased my rating to a 5 star as this Spike Training Aid looks like it will be a nice addition to my training protocol.

Training Day
Works well. Need to set up something to stop the ball or you will chase it all day. It is slow to use but allows the athlete to focus on the process

Positive changes immediately
I have a couple of athletes who contact the ball with their attacking arms bent or with the ball behind them. I was hesitant to get this, as I know the biggest issue with attack technique is learning how to time the approach and adjust to a set. BUT, what this tool does is it lets the kids feel what "good" is supposed to feel like. Without needing to worry about timing and adjusting, they can feel attacking the ball at extension and out in front of them. I wasn't convinced it would translate after we put the "spike stick" away, but there were noticable differences in the girls' extension and contact points off a live set after using this tool. I think it will become a regular part of my "early days" training. Also, the stick doesn't come with a handle, but there are detachable broom handles at Dollar Tree for <$2.00 that worked well! (I just couldn't get it off again once I'd put it on there...details.)

Broke instantly
Was used for all of two hitting reps then broke. The girl hitting is in middle school (so not even that hard of a hit). I had high hopes for this, to help one of my players with their arm swing, but as the title of this review says, it instantly broke.

Easy to use, also easy to break, requires some innovation...
Greetings This is the second time I purchases this kind of volleyball trainer for my family. I saw it used at a local volleyball club by one of the trainers and was inspired by its use. My intent was to build a set up for the kids to use that was free-standing and did not require someone to hold the broom handle while someone practiced. Version 1 I mounted vertically to a jump box I upcycled from a pallet. It worked for about a dozen good swings before the PVC inside the trainer broke where the handle screws in. I had anticipated torsion strain at that point but wanted to test out the initial design. So, I bought the trainer a second time and built version 2, also out of PVC but included to 1 1/2" rotating "female-female" couplers on the vertical support. These allowed the vertical support to rotate along the horizontal axis. Then when one of the kids mishit the apparatus would rotate and release the force. Now, it works great! My only issue is getting the kids to use it...

Nice training aide
Not sure why some people said this was poorly made. I'm impressed with the quality. Didn't think a 3/4" broom handle would fit, but after trying several times and adding some vaseline to the threads and using a wrench, I was able to thread to two pieces together.

Returning item. The photos on the ad shows extension pole. I didn’t realise that its not included in the order it not till I received the item today. $75 for bent plastic pipe and piece of pool noodle is a rip off not to mention is useless on its own unless you buy the extension pole at additional cost.
