I thought these would be the styrofoam material but they are smoothfoam material. I actually like them better for the crafts my girls and I are making. They are tiny, which is what I wanted. I didn’t need 300 but for the price this was the best option. I will probably resell some in small lots. Be careful if you are going to spray paint these. You will need to use paint that is suitable for foam or your little balls will become disfigured.

I bought a cute planter for my succulents that looks like a chicken sitting on a basket. When it arrived I found it was much deeper than I needed. Succulents have shallow roots and need really good drainage to prevent root rot so I didn't want to fill it up with dirt or waste my good succulent potting soil. Putting rocks inside would have made it really heavy plus I didn't have any. I brainstormed and came up with something light like pieces of Styrofoam, and I wanted something that wouldnt clog the drainage hole. I did a search and found these little balls. Perfect! I filled the planter a little over half way up using almost the whole box of balls, and put a coffee filter over the top to prevent the soil from falling into the spaces. Then I finished planting the succulents. It looks great.

Used these to make garlands. Worked well. I didn't count the balls- other reviews noted that they weren't the exact right number. They come in a box so I could see it being slightly off.
