It won't break no matter how you use it.
This bone cleaver is an absolute powerhouse in the kitchen. From the moment I picked it up, I could feel the weight and balance — it’s clearly designed for heavy-duty use. Whether I’m chopping through bones, joints, or tough cuts of meat, this knife handles it with ease. If you work with large cuts of meat or need a reliable cleaver for home butchering, this one is well worth it. Highly recommended for serious home cooks and BBQ lovers alike!

The bone cleaver
I read a few negative reviews prior to purchasing. Some said a sticker was on the blade. None on mine. One person didn't like the tang to scale finish. The metal is just a bit proud (1mm) but its barely noticeable. I think its fine. It does weigh 2+pounds and it should. You want the blade to do the work. Would I buy again? Yes, even more so now. It's very well done in my opinion. It will do what it is intended to do and it does look good. This thing will last your lifetime and it is worthy to pass down. It is very sharp too.

Good quality
The knife has very good quality. It will be more efficient if the knife is sharpened more. Overall I can use the knife to chop bones of chicken so the knife is helpful

terrifyingly sharp and effective
It's terrifyingly sharp out of the box and can definitely chop through bone, so use with extreme caution and don't place it at the edge of a counter where it could fall or something. I keep it stored in its box when not in use. I use this cleaver to chop up big tough cuts of beef, and it slices through it like it's warm butter. Feels very well built.

Excellent heavy duty cleaver.
This Shi Ba Zi Zuo butcher cleaver is well designed and made. The blade is 8" long with a handle measuring at 6" long. Mine weighed 2lbs. 5.6oz or 1,065 grams. The blade is 1/4" thick or 6.5mm thick. I have not used it yet for kitchen use - but I have no doubt it will chop to perfection as it is very heavy and very sharp. The wood and metal finish are very well done. Excellent product.

Love the knife, chopped pork ribs no problem. I specifically chose this knife because 40CR steel means it won't rust for a long time compared to 34CR. This is my second knife from this company and I'm looking forward getting another one.

This is not your regular picnic lunch knife. A lot of weight. A delight to use. It is purposely sharpened at a less steep angle to protect the blade. This bad boy will slice the thigh bones of a brontosaurus. I used it on a pork roast (not what its designed for), but it was sharp enough to break through the crackling and slice the meat cleanly, one chop. Then i diced it up really fine and sprinkled it for bahn mi, was great. The weight of the knife does most of the work. Used on some root vegetables worked fine. Busted up the bones of a roast chicken to make some stock, it was childsplay. No marks on the blade. The first few times I used it, I honestly smiled, maybe even giggled a little, its a real delight. I did consider a damascus blade instead, but something heavy and sharp enough but ultra durable is what you want for the type of work a cleaver is used for. A workhorse not a show horse. Better price, and I'm not afraid to use it as intended. Now I did hear someone complain about the handle metal and wood being bad shape or size. This is not my experience at all. Another complained about rust? This is now a prized posession in my kitchen. I oiled up the handle with some linseed oil, and a little bit more to keep the blade perfect just in case. Look after it, it will serve you well for decades. Don't be a jerk and put it in a dishwasher as the wood gets damaged and brittle and shrinks. Leaving it in dishwasher is the quickest way to rust any nice knife. Even stainless steel can rust when punished like that. I have never had any knives rust, and I'm not going to start. If you want a knife you can put in the dishwasher, find something horrible at ikea, because you are not worthy of this knife. Yes that was a Thor reference, because it feels like Mjolnir when you lift it.
