Great on Stingray, Fretless Pedulla
Strung these on my 99 musicman Stringray. For years I've used Labella Flats, then Thomastik flats for about 8 years on this bass and loved the tones. Recently one of my thomastiks broke a core (after like 6 years of play) and I switched to half rounds at the rec of my tech. Loved them so much I also swapped them out on my Fretless Pedulla Buzz bass, too (medium gauge on the fretless). I love the feel of low gauge string and I prefer to play light. I play a lot of Reggae, Soul, Funk, Jazz... These strings respond great in those styles. I wouldn't use these as "all around strings"... I'm a two bass guy and if I needed a sound I can't get out of these strings I'd bring my other stringray strung with rotos. Hope this helps!

great alternative to round wound strings and low tension on bass guitar neck
This is a great alternative to flat wound strings. Plenty of brightness and overtones without fret noise. Also easy on the fingers and lower tension on the bass guitar neck. Great strings, recommended. (I am a professional bassist-touring, shows, recording sessions)

tone
put these on my fretless jbass so i don't eat up the rosewood. brilliant! love the feel and the old school motown sound, but the growl, awesome!

Great for those that play without a pick, great mids and highs.
Not for everyone, but I love the half rounds. Hybrid of flat and round wound, better for mids and for working up and down the strings. Less blisters, that's for sure. I play fast and all over the place and they're much easier on the fingers if you play without a pick.

Great strings for my fretless
Half rounds keep the fretboard on my fretless smooth while keeping my sound relatively bright. D'addario makes great strings at a good value.

Good strings....
These strings are great if you like flatwounds but like your strings to sound a little brighter. I did realize once I had them installed that they weren't for me and I sold them used. More tension than I wanted but otherwise they are excellent.

Caution as hard on the fingers
In theory these strings sound good and they are nice strings. But! Because of the coating they felt oddly sticky. I had to put them on as needed to use them. They sound great, but sliding ‘up’ to upper strings is tough as like very fine sand paper? It’s the surface friction. So I’m confused?
