Sephora: The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin, and Hair from the Beauty Authority

This book is very educational esp to those who don’t wear makeup everyday. I would share it with my daughter . It’s helpful in shopping for the quality makeup and tools. In the long run, this book will help your save money. No need to experiment on different brands coz everything has been suggested here. I would highly recommend !

I bought this used but looks brand new. So much information in a very creative and fun layout. It capsulizes on the many designers pivitol points and inspirations. More information than I had expected. It isn't a book that makes you feel like you must buy a zillion products to look nice. Great tips. Well sectioned. It doesn't matter if you are a make up artist or just someone wanting to learn a variety of techniques. this is really good.

Very happy with this book, bright colored glossy pics, lots of info. If your a lover of SEPHORA, like me, then you will love this book. I really like this book because I am a regular at sephora stores and the employees are very helpful and knowledgeable. I feel this book gives you a lil more insight to their products etc. If your a make up beginner, definitely get this book and visit this book. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Not detailed enough for me!!!

This is so cheap compared to buying at full price in store. It came in almost perfect condition. I’m very happy.

For claiming to be the "Ultimate Guide to Makeup...", this book falls pretty short. It reads more like an infomercial for Sephora than an informative guide. I'd say roughly 2/3 of it's content could be shaved off to no negative effect. For example, one section details the activities of a Sephora sales associate at work (including a bit about organizing a display case). Several pages are devoted to surprisingly similarly worded quotes pertaining to the meaning of beauty. The only useful information this book provides can be found in the VERY basic (again, this claims to be an "Ultimate Guide") makeup/hair/skin care technique section and the final section dealing with nutritional science. Bottom line, while Sephora is an excellent retail source for cosmetics, I would not suggest purchasing this book if you have any makeup related skill beyond that of a twelve year old.

I got this book a few months back and I absolutely loved it. It has great tips and tricks and its just fully of really great and useful information. It tells you more than just make-up tips and how to but it gets into skincare and what vitamins, minerals, fruits, vegetables ect do to your skin and how they can benefit the skin. I love this book overall.

I ordered this book as this is the only make up I will wear hoping it showed many ways to put it on and wear it! So pages do and some are what they sell. I ordered 3 other books along with it, using these tips you need a book for the real look! So all in all I am happy with it! I gave it a 4 star only because I was expecting this book to show many different styles and it does show some but more what to wear with colors like eye shadows, lipsticks all together! I need to learn how the pros put it on step by step!

J'appréhendais à l'idée de l'acheter (je n'avais, jamais osé lire d'ouvrage en anglais). Cet ouvrage à usage semi-professionnel, est rédigé dans un anglais très accessible. Le vocabulaire est simple, le choix des photographies est pertinent. Tout y est traité, du kit sourcil, en passant par l'usage des différents pinceaux de maquillage et la protection solaire. Je n'avais pas vraiment lu le descriptif sur amazon.fr et j'ai été ravie de voir qu'une partie de l'ouvrage était consacré au traitement de la chevelure. Je n'ai pas été déçue. Je craignais de tomber sur une publicité redondante des produits de la marque sephora, une sorte de manuel de vente pour les employées de la marque. Mais pas du tout. Toutes les marques vendues par l'enseigne y sont représentées. Je voulais absolument connaître le point de vue de l'enseigne sur les différentes questions traitées. Aucun sujet n'est en reste : la cigarette, les produits favorisants les irruptions acnéiques. Les types de peaux : matures, noires, peau de blonde, de brune... Ce livre en papier glacé est fait pour durer. N'hésitez plus !

I was really looking forward to receiving this book, but after a quick read I was sadly disappointed with its contents. There is nothing in this book that merits anything in the way of plaudits: The information given is obvious and must already be known to virtually anyone with even a passing interest in cosmetics and their successful application. The book is then needlessly padded out with boring details about 'a day in the life' of various people involved in the beauty industry. Really, who gives a stuff about their yoga classes and macrobiotic diets? Certainly not me. Frankly, the best thing about it is the beautiful cover photograph, everything else is just a big yawn.
