Great little Neck knife
Love it but did wrap some small cord on the handle for more grip

Taiwan made. Lightweight. Sheath feels like it'll last about 20 deployments before it breaks. Knife: pretty okay. Sheath: trash.

Icy cold
Cold steel needs no reviews as the name speaks for itself and stands for a good quality knife. The price was right, was exactly what I wanted, feels good in my hand, and is very sharp. I have no regrets or complaints on this purchase and I would buy again and will if I lose it or someone steals it cause they bought some cheap a** pos and like this better.

Great little knife
I'm not sure why, but of many knives I own, I have a special affection for this one. The steel is nice, holds an edge, but sharpens easily. I like the ring you can put your finger through and still hold it perfectly. Because of the sheath, it is pretty easy to set it down and loose it, yet I keep buying replacements!

Not what advertised
Looks great, however is not as advertised. The BTJ model is supposed to be made in Taiwan, yet the blade has made in China stamped on it. Also the sheath is mislabeled and is the wrong material. The sheath is compared to a Srk-C sheath in pic 2 (direct from Cold Steel site).

Perfect Lite Weight and Petite Neck Knife
Cold Steel designed this for use with hunters and fishers looking to process their game, and should excel in that role assuming the game is small enough. The skeletonized design, small blade dimensions, and finger ring make it clear this knife is generally meant for fine and precise work. While I am a hunter I bought this knife for the primary purpose of finding a very lite weight and diminutive neck knife that I really wouldn't feel during my day, and this has definitely fit that bill. At 0.8 ounces the Bird and Trout is two and half times lighter than my ESEE Izula-B neck knife, and over three times lighter than my Cold Steel Mini Tac neck knife. The Secure-Ex sheath is also diminutive and like all the Secure-Ex's I have used locks the knife up tight and I have no fear the knife will fall out, while also allowing easy withdrawal when I need the knife. One final thing to say; I am not sure what the blade steel used is? The manufacturer website lists it as AUS-8, but other places list it as AUS-6.

Cold Steel had it right originally making these in Japan!
Where items are made is the detail that says more then ANY marketing description, which Amazon keeps muzzling. These are splendidly designed knives and now appreciate more my other one made in Japan. I won’t be buying these any more. Ya dun messed up Cold steel switching where it was made!

Good for the (previous) price, but I'd pass at the current $26
Bought this strictly to put in my edc pouch so I'd always have a fixed blade on hand (even if it's tiny.) This is absolutely featherweight, as a neck knife or something you would notice the weight of the sheath and chain more than the knife itself. It came shaving sharp out of the package too. Only complaints are; 1) comfort while using. the finger ring is essential when using this due to the nonexistent handle thickness/size. 2) the sheath does have excessive retention, as other reviews have mentioned. 3) Blade steel used is eh. it's like 8cr13mov; it'll work, but it doesn't excel at anything really. just very average. But for the price I can't complain. As you can see in the photos, I modified my sheath heavily to fix the retention issue and to accommodate the paracord wrap I put on to give me more of a handle. They did partially fix the handle problem with the newer version, but I specifically wanted this one since the finger ring is centered on the tang and therefore allows the knife to be held in more than one orientation. All in all I do think it was worth the price I paid, around $13, but the price appears to have doubled since then. For that price I'd definitely look for a better all-around option. (but again, my intended use is not what this knife was necessarily designed for, so it may be worth it to you as an ultralight fish and fowl knife)

Excelente para o que se propõe. Limpar peixes e pequenas aves.
Excelente.

A perfect balance
This knife is a perfect balance between utility and concealability. It's razor sharp. It sharpens easily and stays sharp. The blade profile is perfect for small game. Wear it and it's undetectable. All in all, a great knife at a reasonable price.
