Is this the stuff needed to make corn into hominy?

Yes, I used this to nixtamalize corn last year.  Basically, you bring the corn and lime water mixture up to a boil for about 20 minutes, then let it sit overnight.  Next morning, rub kernels between your hands while rinsing with water to remove skins.  Of course you can find more details on the internet.

I heard completely covering raw eggs in slaked lime powder will preserve fresh eggs for 8 months w/a success rate of 100%.Has anyone tried this?

Your question was posted in 2016. I did this for the 1st time last summer, 2021, for winter use when our older hens slowed way down in their egg production. The way I was told, and followed, was to use clean, unwashed eggs. Their bloom needs to be left. If an egg has visible poop on the shell, do not try to preserve it. My friend also told me to wash the lime off the preserved egg before cracking it open. And she recommended cracking each egg in a separate dish, just in case it went bad, before adding to your other ingredients. The preserved eggs got us through last winter and I'm now putting some back for this winter.

Can I use this for egg storing?

Yes. You can use this for Waterglassing eggs. But make sure the eggs you are going to waterglass are freshly laid, unwashed eggs. Store bought eggs will not work with this method, because the protective layer has been washed off and bleached, this will cause the lime to seep thru the eggshell and ruin the egg. There are many videos that show you how to waterglass fresh eggs.
