About the Author Alan Moore is perhaps the most acclaimed writer in the graphic story medium, having garnered countless awards for works such as WATCHMEN, V FOR VENDETTA, SWAMP THING and MIRACLEMAN. He is also the mastermind behind the America's Best Comics line, through which he has created (along with many talented illustrators) THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN, PROMETHEA, TOM STRONG, TOMORROW STORIES and TOP TEN. As one of the medium's most important innovators since the early 1980s, Moore has influenced an entire generation of comics creators, and his work continues to inspire an ever-growing audience.

Alan Moore at his maddest lol ,free to do what he does best ,inventive , clever , different and cool.Like one of the best 2000ad stories with so many different ideas ,unlike most of DC and Marvel , milking single ideas till they run dry.

The fist two volumes of top 10 read like a police procedural tv show set in a world ...
This is the comprehensive top 10 by Alan Moore, collecting all 4 of his books(top 10 1-2,SMAX,Top 10 the 49ers).If Watchmen was 'Moores serious/dark take on superheros in the real world, albiet an alternate history 'real' world this is the opposite but with the same outstanding results. The fist two volumes of top 10 read like a police procedural tv show set in a world where everybody from the main characters to the background characters have superpowers or some strange mutation of some sort.'Moore & Gene Ha clearly had alot of fun creating this world with countless background sight gags by Gene Ha & amazing comedic writing while dealing with some real world issues(this is Alan Moore after all)with a real satirical edge.SMAX on the the other hand is pure fantasy D&D style parody that had me in stiches more than once, while the art handled by Zander Cannon is really cartoonish don't be fooled into thinking this is for kids.In this world which is Smax's homeworld incest is an expected part of ogre family life,(spoiler)which is why he takes toybox along to act as his wife, unknown to her,But before you can say Bilbo Baggins they are on there own d&d quest with some hilarious outcomes.Seeing a certain famous evil animated baby holding another famous animated baby from Springfield at gunpoint was a smile inducing background gag with countless others. The last story 'The 49ers has Gene Ha back on art duties and what an amazing job he does(probably the best looking top 10 book)he sets the story in a noir like setting which adds to the feeling of being in !949 perfectly. This is the most serious, character driven of the storys but still has a good few laughs along the way.A great prequal to the vol1-2 of Top 10.All in all this is the largest Absolute book I own, with 4 books and a shortstory by 'Moore also included. It's jam packed with great writing and great art!A must for fans of comic books especially superhero comics but comics in genral!HIGHLY RECOMENDED!

Highly recommended and What is in Absolute Top Ten.
I am going to be a little more critical of the item rather than gush on the content. However, let me first say that this was a GREAT read/story. Top notch, every bit on par with what you would want from Alan Moore and then some. The following prevented me from giving a full 5 stars.- The details of what exactly is in this book were hiding at the bottom of the extract up top, after clicking 'read more' which I didn't find until after searching around a lot. No mention in product details or the Editorial reviews. This wasn't a major concern, as the detail ARE there, just an annoyance that newcomers like me had to figure out that Deadfellas = America's Best Comics Special 1 and that Season 2 (by Cannon and Ha, NOT Moore) is not included (which was canceled halfway through). I have included a list of everything in Absolute Top Ten below.- The Book: it is large and heavy. I knew this was coming by the product details. However, while reading, the spine cracked quite a bit and has that distinct loose feel. Don't get me wrong, this is a quality made product, but just be aware that the binding of the spine has that 'I-won't-survive-long-with-heavy-use' feel that is common (in my opinion) with large, heavy book (esp with nice, thick pages).I really wanted to give this 4.6 stars or something, as the weakish binding and amazon details are lacking, but the product itself deserves a full 5 stars. Beautiful art, thick semi-glossy pages, nice hardcover with dust jacket and solid, artworked booksleeve. I typically read classics (Verne, Dostoyevsky, Chekhov, Dumas, ect) but after reading and LOVING Watchmen, i started to search for more graphic novels and Top Ten is truly a great piece for my collection.Absolute Top Ten (in presented order, in all, there are 4 story lines):**Book One (issues 1-7)**Book Two (issues 8-12)These make up the main story, start to finish. These 1-12 chapters make up the majority of the 570 some odd pages.**Smax (issues 1-5)This is an side story that picks up right after the main ends. It is kind of like a long aftermath, but really is just about Smax and Robyn, and tells you a little more about what they are doing after the events of the main story.**DeadfellasA separate short story about vampire gangsters. I think this is what the amazon main page refers to as "America's Best Comics Special #1".**The Forty-NinersSeparate story from the main, a prequel issues 1-4. It is about the origins of Neopolis (the main city) and the first officers of Top 10 (the police precinct is Precinct/Parallel Number 10).**Design Gallery and Artist Design Notes (I don't believe this is mentioned as included, but if not, it should be)About 15 pages of designs and visual road maps at the end of the book, Way awesome.!!!NOT INCLUDED!!!**Beyond the Farthest Precinct (issues 1-5)Set 5 years after the main story. Done by Filippo and Ordway. http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Top_10:_Beyond_the_Farthest_Precinct_Vol_1**Top Ten Season TwoA season two by Cannon and Ha was started and canceled. It is 1-4 issues and Special #1.http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Top_10_Season_Two_Vol_1http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/03/28/gena-ha-dc-comics-and-top-ten-season-two/

Do yourself a favor and read this now!
Ok, so Alan Moore has clearly made a name for himself with his creative and engaging method of storytelling, so im sure anyone reading this review is already familiar with him if they found this page. So what can I say to convince you to buy this product?Well, I have read a wide range of comics now (my favorite writers being Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Grant Morrison, Warren Ellis) and while I am particularly biased to science fiction Top 10 is my absolute favorite of all time. This series is just great, with outstanding art from Gene Ha perfectly complimented by the goofy touch of Zander Cannon, and all woven together by Alan Moore's brilliant storytelling. Every page is wonderous to behold and indeed there are plenty of little easter eggs here just waiting to pop out at you, which is further enhanced by the oversized edition of this hardcover. Some of the methods Alan uses in writing this are just way too good, and its practically overflowing with creative concepts that I never imagined seeing in a comic. In particular issue #8 is one of the most amazing stories I have ever had the pleasure to read, and the sequel and prequel stories are worthy to stand by the original. Its just so simple: Top 10 is waaaaay too good.So do yourself a favor and buy this, or just read it. It may not be full of musclebound violence, but I think everyone will like this regardless.

Surreal
I too have a collection of Absolute Editions, which should be confined to graphic novels with an extraordinary story with groundbreaking art work. My favorite still is the Deni/Ross edition on The World's Greatest Super-Heroes. Other than Gaiman's Sandman, I cannot think of a work so bizarre, creative and surreal as this work. There are times I got my magnifying glass out to view the detail it was so jaw-dropping and interesting. Moore has created characters in this police-force novel that are likeable even though they are so unlikely to exist in another universe much less your dreams such as a Doberman police chief and chameleon naked woman who has a kaleidoscopic painted body continuously changing that she seriously views herself as dressed? If I could place it in a comic genre it would be like Fables which never ceases to amaze me in its creativity. This work is pure fun and is worth owning in this size, though be warned it is very heavy and should be read on a desk. The binding, paper quality, and printing are top notch. Though at times the glossy paper causes you to move the book or your view due to glare. Get it before it becomes impossibly expensive.

One of the Best Absolute Editions
This may be my favorite single edition absolute. It falls to the Sandman collection, which takes first. However, this book is incredible. The story is fantastic. It is so good that it angers me that Moore did not write more stories in this amazing world he created. After you get done with the main story, there are two separate story arcs, which are both great. The last one has a Watchmen feel to it. As for the production, it has a great sewn binding, excellent paper, nice extras, and the usual book mark and case. The paper and ink quality, as well as, the size of the book just make the artwork pop. I highly recommend you picking this up. It is worth the money.

One of the best cop stories ever told!
Were you a fan of Hill Street Blues? NYPD Blue? Heck, did you love Adam 12? How about Super Heroes? In this world, everyone has powers, but they still need cops. This is their story, and it is a hell of a ride by Mr.'s Moore, Ha, and Cannon, and in this format, it is stunning, easy to read, and re-read. I would give it 6 stars if I could.
