The best seat in the house.
Sturdy and well designed. Love the slow close. Comfortable.

No more SLAM!!!
It's kind of weird writing about a toilet seat. But everybody uses one everyday - many times. We came across this seat a very long time ago. We added the first one with skepticism and was immediately hooked thereafter. The slow close feature is incredible. No more waking everyone in the house up in the middle of the night by the harsh sound of a dropped toilet seat. The slow close feature lasts for around ten years before it begins to fail on average (8 years in the busiest restroom, 12 years in the least used). The material the lid and seat are made of is second to none. They are very durable and solid through and through. No more swollen wood under a thin plastic coated seat and lid that require regular annual replacement. The finish on the seat and lid will remain beautiful as long as you care for it with cleaning solutions, not scouring pads and pumice based scrubbing compounds. Most of the damage we've experienced has been by something like screwdriver in my back pocket when I sit down to tie my boots. I have wrongfully and unsafely stood on mine many times. NOT a good idea. But a statement of their strength and durability. I think someone standing on one to look out the window is what broke the hinge after 12 years of service. They are exceptionally easy to install. The porcelain of toilets can be cracked by over tightening the bolts/nuts that hold a seat in place. This seat has bolts/nuts that have a self limiting torque feature wherein the nuts snap off when the desired torque value is achieved. Therefore your seat and lid are tight enough to stay in place, but not so tight the porcelain gets broken. Once the seat is set, it stays in place. It does not slip and twist when you sit on it (or wrongfully stand on it...). So enjoy! :)

Easy to install and super easy to clean
Our older toilet seat broke and I wanted an all plastic one as the wood covered one had started to wear, which is just nasty. Due to miscommunication, my family ended up with 2 toilet seats ordered, both all plastic. One a Kohler (https://amazon.com/K-4636-0-Grip-Tight-Quiet-Close-Quick-Release-Quick-Attach/dp/B000TF1L18) and this one. Pluses for both: They have metal screws (as opposed to plastic in the one that broke) and the seats are all plastic so hopefully won't wear off. Negatives for both: I'm used to a toilet seat closing when I push it closed lightly. These just seem to hang in the air. I assume that as they get used more they will fall all the way down, but so far we've had to push them closed. However, I definitely prefer the Bemis for two reasons. One, the install was easier. The Kohler hinges separated as I tried to tighten the screws part below, so I had to untighten and realign a bit to get the plastic bits not to separate. The Bemis has a longer piece to tighten around the screw and it went right on with no issues. Two, the Kohler has a hinge all the way across the back that I can easily see collecting icky things and being hard to get clean. However, the Bemis has an opening when the seat is up and in fact the top of the seat has a slot where it the bottom fits into. It means it should be much easier to wipe off anything icky from the seat. We've installed both toilet seats since we have 2 toilets, we'll see how they wear over time. :)

Great toilet seat
This is a very sturdy toilet seat the two cons that I do not like about the toilet seat is that you cannot remove the seat to clean it and the lid is not very sturdy like if you have it closed and want to try to sit on your toilet seat you may break it and it’s going to buckle in the actual toilet seat that you sit on is very sturdy the assembly seems very sturdy as well. It does not move or wiggle. I feel like this toilet seat will hold up aside from the lid. True to color.

Easy to install and clean - From wood to plastic.
Just got my toilet seat today and I couldn't be happier. I was so excited to get rid of my wood finished disgusting seat that I installed it the moment it arrived. My old wooden one wasn't "gross" in the sense that it was unclean, but rather no amount of cleaning made the black/brown places go away because the white finish had rubbed off due to use. We'd had the same toilet seat for 6 years, so you can imagine just how much of the finish had rubbed off. It was very embarrassing for me to have anyone over because I didn't want them to see that seat... Anyway, my old one was the "easy snap" with the hinges that you just move to the left and snap the seat off, so I had to unscrew the easy snap seating mechanism off to be able to install this seat. The instructions were super clear and for a 28 year old handywoman, easy as. The instructions also offer alternative instructions for those of us that have hard to reach toilets (cleaning the bathroom is sort of a nightmare, but I digress). I have a basic tool box and those tools were more than enough to install it. I guess the only thing that I can see that's "wrong" with it is that it doesn't easy close as much as it just stays stuck in whatever position you leave it in, half closed, fully closed, up but not really up, etc. I guess that's better than it slamming down at 3am though? Perhaps it will "loosen up" with time and use and the slow close mechanism will kick in. I can't describe how happy it makes me seeing the seat look clean without any black/brown stains/spots. The dark brown stains/s in my bathroom are now gone. Life is good!

This is how toilet seats should be made.
EDIT: It is now nearly 5 years since purchasing. Still going strong. I have not had to tighten, the soft close still works as if new, no stains-looks brand new, no breakage anywhere. Not once has it ever shifted on the bowl. I will never buy any other brand. I'm a bigger guy, 300+ pounds. And no matter my size, I've always had issues with toilet seats twisting, loosening, sliding off the bowl and the bumpers breaking off. I was tired of replacing toilet seats every year or two. This thing is well built, solid and will last for a long time with the right care. I love the design of the seat. The bolts are steel and molded solidly into the hinges of the seat. All you have to do is slide it into the holes on the bowl and attach the nuts. The nuts are a harder plastic so they won't bend and twist but they're not so brittle that they will break. The nut is a long threaded sleeve that covers nearly the entire length of the bolt. It also has what looks like a standard nut molded onto the end of the "sleeve" that intentionally breaks away when the right amount of torque is reached to secure the seat. This provides the right amount of pressure to hold the seat to the bowl without over torquing and potentially damaging the bowl or seat. And boy does it keep it snug to the bowl. No slippage or twisting here. All that is needed is a standard 5/8" wrench. I used a 5/8 ratchet box end wrench which made it real easy. The bumpers are a harder rubber material that provide complete coverage on the rim of the bowl. The bumpers sit down into a molded cavity with a ridge all the way around to help keep the bumper from moving back and forth and breaking or twisting off. The soft close feature is awesome as well. No unexpected slamming of the seat and causing you to jump out of your skin. Or, if you have grandkids like at my house, no slamming of the toilet seat after they are done using it.

Very nice toilet seat. Highly recommend! :)
Although I wasn't really looking for a silent close seat, I made the purchase anyway because I was having a hard time finding a seat that didn't have this feature. I'll probably just close it faster manually. Anyway, as toilet seats go, this is a solid and lovely looking seat and worth the purchase. The install was a breeze. You will need a 5/8" wrench to complete the install. I am really pleased with this purchase, and I highly recommend it if you're shopping for a new one!

EDITED: Great brand, but the one I bought is defective
Bemis is a great brand. Ive used before and last a long time. No slipping or cracking sounds. Tight fit. Well, I ordered this one, just got it in today. Threw away the broken seat I had, so Im stuck. (I NEED A SEAT.) After putting the new one on it does not sit exactly even like the other did. It leaves a 1/2 in slant to the right. Im afraid it will quickly break from already being slanted. ☹️ I did find a contact email to the company to let them know. I am hoping, they will send me another one that is not defective. 😀 I will update here if they do. Other then this, as I mentioned earlier, Bemis is usually quality stuff! I don’t mind paying a higher price when its good quality. EDITED!! 8-16-23 Well! Im so VERY EXCITED! I was concerned because I only have one bathroom. If I sent the seat back, well NO TOILET SEAT! But they came up with a plan, they issued me a replacement and they trusted me to send the other back and I DID!!! And this one was PERFECT! Thank YOU SO MUCH FOR GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! God bless!

Great toilet seat
I bought these for our two toilets after getting fed up of buying cheaper replacement seats that kept coming loose. My husband is on the heavy side so that was another issue when looking for a replacement. It took about two weeks for the seats to arrive to the UK. They fitted easily and are very sturdy. No loose hinges at all. Also, they are very easy to clean and for someone with a toilet germ phobia, there are very few crevices for the germs to lurk. Yes, they are slightly more expensive but I would rather pay a bit more for quality. Update in March 2024. This toilet seat is still going strong. The hinges haven't loosened at all and it's very easy to clean. Was well worth the money.

Good quality overall, but some issues with the nuts
Look OK, works OK, very shiny. I luckily had the previous nuts which were of far better quality and more classical design, so after ditching the nuts it came with, I installed it quite easily. In the end I am satisfied with the acquisition. Seems to be antimicrobial too, although this is not indicated very boldly.

Awesome seat, so great that I replaced all my toilet seats with this one.
This is an awesome toilet seat. It’s sturdy and quality built with thick strong plastic. Soft close is quite slow but is great and has lasted over two years with no issues, no more toilet cover slams. No shifting or wobble at all when you are seated on it. It is solid. Even when sitting on top of the cover there is minimal flex on the cover. Install was straight-forward and the breakaway nuts ensure you have the correct torque on the seat bolts and I haven’t had to retighten since. I highly recommend splurging a bit on this, as we went through several replacement seats that were from well known brands but were either flimsy, poor quality construction, or ended up shifting after awhile. We ended up swapping all our toilet seats out with this even though they didn’t needed to be replaced due to the improved quality of life. As someone who’s lived with IBS and spends an absurdly large amount of time on porcelain, this is ranks just below premium heated seats like Toto in my books.

Ordering a toilet seat via Amazon? Why not!
First of all, I am constantly amazed by all the kind of stuff you can get from Amazon. I mean, ordering a toilet seats is next level. I was looking for a heavy sturdy one and was very satisfied with what I got. I am partially disabled and was anticipating the installation process. To my great surprise, it was very easy to install and it fits perfectly. So easy to clean as well. Would never get a wooden toilet seat ever again. This brand is the Cadillac of all toilet seats. (I am very picky about toilet seats) Never thought I would say that one day but each time I look at it I am happy with my purchase, the easy and well-done installation as well as the look of it. Sturdy product, probably the last seat I will need in a very long time.
