5 Ways to Use a Poncho for Survival: 1. Build a waterproof shelter. During an emergency, you may need to seek shelter quickly if you see a storm looming overhead. With a piece of paracord or rope, a few stakes, and your poncho, you can build a variety of shelters to keep you dry in a rainstorm. 2. Collect rain water to drink. Depending on how long your emergency lasts, you may run out of water, and if you aren’t anywhere near a water source, a rain catcher might just save your life. Before a rainstorm hits, lay your poncho either in a hole or other low spot to create a basin. As the rain pours, your poncho will collect the clean, cool water for you to drink later. 3. Emergency Heat: Wind is a natural enemy to heat—especially if you’re in an emergency trying to stay warm with what little you have. Wearing a poncho not only keeps you dry, but can act as a wind break so you can stay a bit warmer, too. 4. Ground tarp: During long backpacking trips, sleeping on the ground is rarely fun, but if you’re wet at the same time, then it never is. On dry nights when a dew layers the ground, a poncho is a great way to separate you from the moisture as you lay down to sleep or even just rest. Just lay your sleeping bag out on top of the poncho and the poncho will act as a moisture barrier between you and the dewy ground. 5. Rain fly for your gear: Camping and hiking adventures are often complemented by light sprinkles of rain or downpours. If you have excess gear sitting outside your tent or camper, a poncho is a great way to keep your gear dry while you take refuge inside. Keeping the SEAL3 poncho in your pack can help you in practically every emergency. You can carry your food, collect water, build a shelter, and more with this one compact, portable piece of survival gear. CLICK “ADD TO CART” NOW TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE PREPARED!

This is Very Thick & Heavy Material
At first I just wanted a rain Poncho for my emergency get home bags that I keep in the vehicles. But I also wanted durability and a cover to carry it in to keep it clean.4 things need to be said.....(1) I love that fact that is very strong, unlike those cheaper ones you get for less than $5. This is not something that will puncture from walking in the bush and rubbing on some small branches. No, it is still not rip-stop nylon either, it is a high-density plastic, so it is definitely waterproof.(2) Because it is so heavy plastic, it is heavy. It is approx. 9.5" x 7.5" x1.5" when it is all folded up and put back in its carrying case. So it is a little on the big side. With that being said, it is long enough to cover most (not all) of my arms, it also covers me with a small 20L backpack as well. (I am 5-10" at 200lbs) (broad shoulders, not broad waist, by the way) But if you want durability at a reasonable price, this is it.(3) The cheap ponchos don't always have zippers to help slide your head to the hooded area. This one does, and then it has a flap to cover the zipper and then it also has an interior sealed flap under the zipper the make sure water doesn't come it at all. With my big head (7 5/8" hat size) I needed that zipper.(4) Since this was going in my emergency get home pack that will go in my vehicle, I needed double uses for the poncho. That's where the grommets on the corners come into play, they don't look like they will hold up to very much tension, but I can still make a quick shelter out of it to sleep under if needed. The bad thing is that they are only on the 4 corners. They do have some snaps under the arm area to keep the wind out, but I just wished they had an extra grommet in the middle on the sides.I believe this was such a great product that I bought 2 more, one for my other vehicle and one for my Bug out Bag. My more mature Uncle gets an Orange one for his vehicle, so he can be seen in case of an emergency. Yes the black is really black, the blue is just like the picture and the orange is a bright orange just like I wanted. No, I was not compensated for this review, or given any free products. I just think this is a great quality product for the price.Hope this review helps you, PLEASE press HELPFUL to let me know.

Better than I'd hoped for!
This poncho is SO much better than my expectations! I work outside in the Spring and Summer a lot. In the early season there are some days I just can't layer enough to be dry AND warm. This thing is HUGE. I can easily wear my winter coat under this and be 100% protected. The material is thick, truly waterproof. The hood adjustment and neck opening are both fantastic features as well as the multiple snaps down the side. Some people complained about the big logo which yes, is big but I am going to be so dry and cozy thanks to this thing, I wouldn't care if it was decorated with sheep.

Quality product
I bought this poncho for my husband's birthday. It is of very high quality and I think my husband will enjoy it. Ordinary ponchos do not fit him and have enough coverage to keep him dry and if he is in a survival situation it will have many uses and be very helpful. I am very glad a quality product like this is available.

Really nice for an adult will not fit kids
I bought this for my son for backpacking with us. He is 12. This is advertised to fit kids but it is much too large for a child. It would however, fit even a very large man. It’s quite long and very wide. Would be great for adults at least 5’8” and up. It’s quite heavy as well. It would make a pup tent that doesn’t close in case of rain.

DOES ITS JOB--I recommend it. Good value for the money.
The high points:* You'll need a ball cap to keep the visor from drooping down over your face.* If it's raining hard or there's any wind, button up all the snaps.* Shake the water off it before you step inside or you'll make a mess taking it off.* The part of it draping over your shoulders will FEEL cold when it's getting rained on. You're not getting wet, that's heat conduction.* The hood won't fit properly over a bicycle helmet.First thing that struck me about this when I took it out of the box was how intense the color was. This thing is fluorescent. The picture on the monitor doesn't do it justice, but I tried it on and said, "Look, I'm a caution sign!"Then I noticed it seemed to weigh quite a bit. My digital kitchen scale showed 31 1/4 ounces--that's 98% of two pounds, *without* the carry-bag. GOOD. That'll keep it from blowing around too much.I finally had a chance to give this item a real-life test today when we had the first really hard rain since it arrived. I was able to put it on while wearing a ball cap, but that was close. I went out with only the middle snap on each side fastened, and I got a little rain in through the sides. Coverage is good; it hung to below my knees. I use a walking cane, and I was able to keep both arms completely under it while walking. The snaps and zipper seem a little on the light-duty side, but so far they're ok. The cinch cords for the hood adjustment are so-so, but seem to work. The part I cared most about was the integrity of the seams, and they're fine; nothing came through them. Likewise the material itself; it's like a heavy-duty shower curtain, which is exactly what you want.I may buy another of these in a different color, for when I don't want to look like a traffic cone.

and the side snaps come undone a bit to easily. Having said all that
6' 2" and 250 lbs, I am at the upper end of the range. it is a hard to adjust the hood, and the side snaps come undone a bit to easily. Having said all that, we have had several weeks of nonstop rain in NC, and I have used the Poncho a lot., It has held up well, and I am really glad to have had it.

Strong and excellent quality. Only used once but expected durability is good. Metal grommets and “heavy material” like I wanted. Not thin like other offerings and fairly quiet material too. It does have an extremely bright yellow company logo on left chest that I had to Sharpie over ( not beneficial for hunting/tactical cover. I still highly recommend
