This leaves the skid proof steel plate that you see pictured is what goes on the outside of the tub. Ours fit an older tub that the top 2 inches down was curved. It depends if you can get a grip with it about 4 or 5 inches down from the top. If you can, it will grip real tight since it is steel and grips like a vise. **Q: Is it polished stainless?** A: Is not polished stainless, it is a painted metal. **Q: Can you use it pn a old clawfoot tub its cast iron** A: Hi Nathan!
