Works as expected and proud to own it!
I've been searching for an instrumental/guitar solo that used to be at the end of a Soft Rock Collection in the 90s. My problem was - I actually have the instrumental in a 20+ year old self-made collection but I didn't have the player. I've tried searching for it in Google but without success because I didn't know the name/title of the track. Then I finally came across this cute, little thing that solved the problem!I find it a little overpriced, maybe because during my time it used to cost about 500/- to 700/- if I'm not wrong, but that was way back in the 80s & 90s. The sound is ok (I guess you'll know what to expect from 20-30 year old cassettes) but the small hole near the head through which we used to adjust the head is not there (those of you who used to do that will know ๐). It records in one file as long as you play. With the free software that comes with it, you can cut and trim the converted files as well as add/reduce the bass/treble, adjust left/right channel or volume and many more, it's simple to use and handy. It is auto reverse. It doesn't have a built-in speaker but has an audio socket for a 3.5mm jack for headphone or aux cable. As a whole IT'S NOSTALGIC. Great job Amazon and seller.

Buy it if u must convert cassette tapes to digital format
It's one of the very few products availabile today that can first, play a cassette tape and secondly play it on to a PC for conversion to a digital format of ur choice thru a free software called Audacity. In response to some adverse comments, let me say 1. Switch off all WiFi devices while using it to avoid helicopter sound and 2. Set the recording speed in Audacity to 1. I have rated 3 and not 5 because the product is most delicate and one is not sure of its life. It is also expensive but that's no surprise given its rarity in today's times. Those with cassette tapes to be converted, will do well to buy it.

Get's The Job Done For A Remarkable Price
Good:Transport is pretty solid with not much wow and flutter (warbling). I'm sure that would change with lots of use but it probably isn't going to see lots of use.Sound quality it remarkable for this price range. Again, the playback head is probably going to wear down fairly quickly but who cares. Not So Good:If you turn the volume way up you are going to hear the electronics making background noise. You don't want that in the final mp3 so keep the output level below that threshold when recording to your computer.Bad:Nothing really. You really can't go wrong here. The negative reviews I have read included details that made me believe they were recording a too high output levels. The build quality may vary from unit to unit so maybe you could possibly get a bad one. It's worth the chance IMO.

Low quality but functional
This tape recorder will probably be okay for someone who just needs functionality. I bought the recorder as a back up to a much higher quality (and price) Panasonic device which I've had and enjoyed for years. However, the quality of this acquisition was so poor in comparison to the Panasonic that I returned it and bought a used Panasonic like the one I already had. After many years of faithful service, my old Panasonic still plays but is having rewind difficulties.

Added noise when listening or transferring to computer
Before going over the problems, let me just say that I can only speak for the one I received. It is certainly quite possible I just got a bad one.I heard about this from "The Tech Guy" and he happened to mention that when he lay it down one way while transferring to computer, he got noise issues. So when it happened to me, I changed the position too. Every time I got the noise, changing position would reduce or stop the noise. Trouble was, once I found a position that seemed to work, in a short time it usually had the noise return. So it was a constant changing of position, but with every copy getting the noise at some point, I couldn't get a good recording for the whole thing. You could hear the noise if just listening through the headphones and not trying to transfer to the computer.I spent a lot of time on it without success so I sent it back.Since I know one can always get a bad unit, I'd say my bigger concern was when I filled out the feedback form the same day I got it, reporting the problem. I never heard back from the company. This was 4 days ago. Today I sent it back to Amazon. On the bright side, the parts of the recordings that didn't get the added noise sounded fine. So, if it wasn't for this noise problem, I'd rate it highly. My recommendation to others is that it is worth a try. If you get noise, try changing the position in hopes it doesn't recur. And if it does, well, send it back. It's certainly a cheaper way of getting digital copies of cassettes than most options I've seen.Oh, the Audacity software comes on a tiny CD. I'm not sure if those things can be slid into a CD player from Apple (I use a MacMini) or not. I didn't want to risk it. But I had Audacity software on my computer so didn't need it anyway. You can download it for free.

Great Product
I ordered this not knowing what to expect but it seems to be a good at transferring my cassette tapes to my computer. I have transferred 6 tapes and it didn't take very long. The set up was very easy. You just put the CD in your computer to download the software and you are ready to go. The only problem I had was on some of my older cassettes I could hear the little clicking sound of the tape player so I lowed the input sound and that seemed to fix the problem. I like how you can hear the music as you are transferring it over. You can listen with the earbuds that come with it or right on your computer. The music sounds good. I also like how I can cut the music where I want to because I had one or two songs that had a longer ending then I wanted so I just stopped the recording when the music faded, before it stated up again. Good product for the price. I would recommend this to a friend.
