1996 Jeep XJ AW4. UPDATE!
I applied this to my 1996 jeep Cherokee with the AW4 auto trans. Fit almost perfectly. It fits perfectly where it is supposed to go BUT this mounts interfaces between transmission and crossmember are perfectly parallel. The motor and transmission on this vehicle are naturally slightly inclined which implies the need for the transmission interface "part" of this mount to be so inclined as well. It is not which leaves a gap between transmission and this mount. I do not know if it will be an issue for me or not. I am impressed with this mount, just cautiously optimistic because of what I have seen when I installed it. The mount is sturdy and prevents the transmission from flexing around. Adds a good bit of vibration to the cabin but I am also using similar motor mounts. My jeep has stock driveline angles where this mount is concerned. If you have a transfer case drop I would not recommend this mount at all. (and id recommend you get a CV driveshaft)Update:I removed this mount because when combined with heavy duty motor mounts the vibration is too much for me. However thats not why ive given it 1 star. Ive updated my review to 1 star because of the aforementioned lack of angle to the mount. This has caused the mounts bolts to bend themselves closer to alignment when they were tightened down and actually installed in the jeep. The bolts doing this illustrate my point about the mount not sitting flush. I will include pictures.

Daystar Poly Trans Mount -- Great upgrade
I installed this particular transmission mount on a '94 Jeep XJ Cherokee with a 4.0L engine and AX-15 5-speed manual transmission after I had already installed Energy Suspension poly motor mounts. The complete "poly makeover" for the powertrain and drivetrain made a considerable difference in the way my Jeep shifts, downshifts, and picks up with a throttle punch. With a manual transmission, the vibration increase is minimal and hardly noticeable at engine speeds above 700 RPM. At idle, there is a slight increase in cabin vibration, but this is a plus to me as it feels like the vehicle has more power available. If you're looking for a more sporty feel to your Jeep, this transmission mount works with AW4 and AX-15 transmissions, not just the 2.5L auto setup as it's advertised here. The only unexpected occurrence from upgrading to this mount was when I popped the transfer case in four-low and it wouldn't stay locked in. A quick 10-minute linkage adjustment was all that was necessary to get the t-case back into optimal working condition. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask here or hit cherokeeforum.com to get help from many Jeep enthusiasts.UPDATE: 24 July 2014; The Energy Suspension motor mounts are certainly not the best choice, so if you go that route get Brown Dog, Iron Man Fab, or a similar style motor mount. The Daystar Transmission mount, however, is holding up excellently and has not given me any issues. I will be installing one of these soon on a '97 XJ Cherokee Sport with an automatic transmission, so I will write a separate review for that application.

Iffy fitment for manuals
It says it will fit all from 84-96 or some odd years like that, i have a 1990 xj with a 4.0, and manual trans. This was the only poly mount i could find that had the right style. It fits snug, and brings the trans down because it is thicker than the stock mount. I had to dig around in my spare bolts to find a flangless nut because the mount interferes with the stock but threading on. One out of the 4 bolts to mount the crossmemeber to the mount was off threaded and i had to force the nut on basically crossthreasing it i assume. Overall it’s a nice mount. But it also makes you realize you need to do poly motor mounts as well ASAP when you install this.

SOLID
Absolute unit of a transmission mount! Had to fight the crossmember and the drive train to get it to bolt up, but after that, ooo baby no clunking what so ever! Keep in mind, you WILL sacrifice ride quality ie; you'll feel the engine vibrating pretty hard. After a couple thousand miles it's toned down, or I got use to it, either way not disappointed at all!

You won't realize how beefy this mount is until you have it in your hands. It probably weighs over 5lbs and is super stiff. The way that the poly material is bonded to the metal plates is really secure. This mount fits my 1989 Cherokee 6cyl / auto / 4x4 perfectly. It's not listed for the 6cyl here but it is the right part.Once installed the drivetrain feels more directly connected. There are slightly more vibes transmitted to the cabin, but that's fine by me. I like the performance feel of this. Mine mount was black, not the red that is shown FYI if that is important to you.Amazon has a killer price on these too!! a great upgrade for that old soft torn up rubber mount!

Tough Fit
This is a beautifully made, if stiff design, tranny mount. However, I was unable to utilize it because it does not have the approximate fifteen degree "cant" that the factory mount has. My Jeep mechanic said it would make for "unusual" 4WD shifting and many more felt vibrations. The softer OEM type steel/rubber mounts wear out mighty quickly, causing the car to experience clunking from the drive train. If this design had a shape more like factory, it would be a nice product (that I could fit onto my particular 1989 Jeep Cherokee 6-cyl 4WD automatic).

Solid mount!…literally
This mount definitely did its job well. However, if ur not looking for max stiffness and max rattling…stay away from these mounts. Otherwise, I could really feel the stiffness compared to the stock mounts.

Daystar KJ01007BK Transmission Mount for 4.0 Liter Standard Transmission
The factory replacement rubber mount would have been much cheaper. However, it also would have been a cheaper quality mount. Having used this same mount on previous installations I wasn't going to scrimp on something this important.Given the fact that this also fits the 4.0 Liter standard transmission, and there are a lot more of them out there than the 2.5, it would be less confusing for future buyers if this fact was listed in the title or description.
