Great little percolator pot for campfire coffee
This was purchased for a camping trip with friends and our young boys. It was my first experience with brewing coffee over open fire as well as using a percolator.Pros:- Great value over other camping percolators- worked great and was real popular with my camping buddies- nice pouring spout- easy cleaningCons:- top handle won't stay upright- handles get very hot- very light construction, easily dents (could be a pro if needed for hiking purposes)- loose fitting lid, can fall out if pouring the last of a pot outComments:- I was so excited to use it I neglected to follow a tip by other reviewers to rub soap on the bottom to make cleanup easy. So now it has a permanent blackened bottom and darkened 1/2 way up the pot. No big deal since this will be dedicated to campfire duty only anyway.- The sight glass is indeed glass as confirmed by other reviewers.- A slight change to the design of the upper handle mounts could allow it to stay upright if the bends in the tabs were reversed. Because of the radius of the pot and the handle matching very closely, it can be tricky to grab when down especially over open fire.A few tips:- potholders or tongs are needed over open fire because both handles will be way too hot to touch.- once it starts perking pull it over to lower fire so it doesn't boil so hard and perk violently, this will prevent a ton of grains from getting into the coffee (if you wanted cowboy coffee you wouldn't purchase this pot, right?)- I didn't measure grains, just add until the level matches the inside part of the basket and brewed based on time (7 minutes from first perk for me) and color.Overall very happy with it and glad I bought two. I gave one as a gift to my brother and I'm sure he'll enjoy it as much as I have.

Perfect. Versatile and Makes The Most Delicious Coffee!
Love this percolator. Bought it for backpacking and power outages, but we've been using at home for two days now because coffee is so good. I can't believe how rich the coffee tastes and smells.Came with all the parts, no damage, and works perfectly on electric stove, portable butane burner, and fire. We've made three pots so far. This really solved the problem of good coffee while camping and during power outages. We tried instant, coffee bags, pour over types, and cowboy coffee. They just weren't very good. This makes better coffee than our expensive coffee maker. If it were programmable, I'd use it everyday. You will need to experiment to find the right amount of grounds. Remember, it is very rich. Our first pot was too strong because we measured according to our electric coffee maker.

Great camping accessory
Just used this for camping this weekend and it worked like a charm! We put it right on the fire and in a few minutes the coffee was brewing. The instructions say to rub the outside of the pot with bar soap, which seems a little weird, but it seriously helped with clean up. It was totally noticeable where we missed putting the soap on because the pot stayed black as opposed where the soap was and that was nice and shiny after a short wash. My only concern is that the top glass piece doesn't securely screw in and I'm probably going to lose it at some point if I'm not super careful.

Makes a great cup of morning Joe.....
Makes a great cup of coffee. I love the non electric models. The first pot came all beat up and dented in and Amazon immediately made everything right. I did change out the knob on top with a real glass knob I had left over from one of my Comet coffee pots. It fit just great and looks much nicer than the plastic knob. And it makes taking off the lid a lot easier as well. I like the 9 cup version as I am the only coffee drinker in the house and like mine like motor oil and this can handle that kind of brewing vs a drip model electric. I have used the heck out of this every day sometimes several times a day. Keeps the coffee hot as well for about an hour after perking or pending your room temperature. Also reheats the leftover coffee quickly. Well worth the money. Very Lightweight and if I ever have to use on the road over a campfire I'll let you know how it goes. Got this to use indoors on my electric stove but also for the end of the world without electric. Light enough to backpack with a single burner stove that I have.

Simple and surdy coffeemaker.
I use this coffee pot to make a quick brew when I am out with the car on a long distance trip. I simply put it on the Coleman Sportster gas oven and have fresh coffee while on the road. I use to stop at nice places and its good to get a good coffee out in the nature. The unit works nice an brews good coffee. The water is pressed to the top of the pot by steam pressure and then through the coffee. This gives a nice taste. You can see it brewing through the glas bulb in the lid.The pot is light and solid. Can recommend it for hiking trips as well due to the low weight.

priced right but not designed well
For the price this is a decent coffee pot. It is light weight, and the handle design is the mane reason I purchased it. That being said it does have some design flaws. The pouring handle at the bottom is way to large, actually sticking out from the sides when folded down. Was easy to cut down smaller however. This biggest complaint I have about this coffee pot is the glass percolator dome. The treads on the glass are not well defined., making a very loose fit in the lid. Can actually be poped out with a little pressure. Forget about removing the lid by grasping the glass dome. There is no purchase on the smooth conical shape. I have had a number of percolator pot through the years, and all of them have had glass shaped to be used as a knob to remove the lid. I hope you have fingernails if you plan to use this.
