Great design on functional, trustworthy child carrier
Freeloader is the best child carrier I have tried. With most carriers it seems there are some cheap components but not so with the Freeloader. I was also impressed with how quickly I received it from purchase. Easy to mount my kid, easy to get her out as well. Much better than toting a stroller in my car! Very comfortable to wear, allowed for longer distances than I could go before with her.

As comfortable as possible given the payload!
I don't think it will ever be luxurious carrying a kid on your back but this was pretty good. Most of the weight was on your hips. As you would expect, I needed to lean forward a bit for good balance. My 4 year old son 42lbs and we did several big hikes out west that he would not be able to manage, including into the Grand Canyon. Great workout for me. I Needed to try different setting on the straps for shoulder comfort but I still needed to stretch and move my arms around to stay comfortable during the hikes. The only big downside of this device is that you MUST have a help to load and unload your child. Not an issue on this trip as the whole family was there. I think you could strap them in on an elevated surface like a stump or rock and then put the pack on but I never tried it.

Made our family hikes fun again
This has worked great for us! Very happy with it. Our 5 year old walks until he's tired then climbs in for the rest of the hike. It's allowed us to go further and longer together. He's about 40lbs so it's a little workout, but my husband and I like that aspect actually. The person who wants extra training that day takes him. Our son is developmentally typical, hasn't fallen asleep in it, and is able to balance himself without relying too much on the safety straps or wiggling around. It's just a piggy back ride for him. Happy with how adjustable it is, so my husband and I can share it easily too. It's a top 5 kid product for me.

Arm straps are awkward
The arm straps don’t seem long enough when I try to strap my son in before hefting him up but once he’s up they are loose - also too I wish there was a way to strap the seat in when it’s not being usedAnd maybe it’s the size I ordered but the metal frame part digs into my backBut otherwise he seems pretty comfy and happy once he’s up

Super comfortable and compacted
This is easy to use and so comfortable onshoulders and neck. plus it helps keep all the childs wieght evenly blanced . Our child loves being able to look around and see things. She loves that it is easy to get in and out . But would recoamend having more then one adult to help with loading and un loading child

Great prototype, not ready to be a product yet.
First things first, the backpack part is incredibly comfortable. Beyond that, it needs a lot of work.Let's start with the biggest issue, you can't use this by yourself. In order to use this with a child you will need to be traveling with another person so that they can properly attach the child and remove it when needed. Then you have the placement of the pockets on the sides of the waist band. They are made from extremely flimsy material, so much so that you need two hands to zip them close. They are set so far back on the waist that in order to use both hands to close it you have to remove one arm from the shoulder strap to reach it.Finally, let's talk about the seat. Its robust and I think very comfortable (my daughter hasn't complained), but there is no way to secure it in the up position when not in use without using the child's harness strapping and sinching it all the way down. So, you will need to readjust your child's harness every time he or she gets in and out of it making what's already a somewhat involved process even more time consuming. All that being said, I could be off base and using it wrong. It didn't come with any instructions so have just kind of been using trial and error to figure it out (very concerning as a fall from that height could potentially kill my daughter if I am using it incorrectly).Bottom line, it's alright. Maybe worth spending $100, it is most defiantly not worth the $300 that its currently priced at. But if your kid has outgrown all the other packs then this is your only option.Update: I have been using this 4-5 days a week since it arrived, less than a month, and the one redeeming quality to it has disappeared. The backpack that used to be super comfortable is no more, the straps have started to slip. It's just poor quality materials.

Very well made!!
This product is very well made and thought throw. Sadly for us it didn't work my son has no trunk control and can't sit in a chair by himself. I should have read that in the description but seemed to miss that. Still I would highly recommend this product for other families with special and additional needs.

Wanted so much to love this
It was just too difficult getting my 30lb kid in and out, and neither of us were comfortable:(
