Great Work Socks - Recommend
So far, so good. But I've only had them a week. I bought them because other socks would not stay up when I wore rubber boots. The lining in the boots causes my other socks to "walk down" at the heel. But these stayed up. They go well over the calf - to about half way over my knee cap, and I am 6'1". The socks are not especially soft, but that's ok for me since they are work socks. They give adequate padding without too much bulk. All in all I'm happy with them at this point. UPDATE: It is now January 2017 and the socks are just like new. I have hand washed in cold water, and air dried them all these months. No stretching or shrinkage has occurred. They still hold tight and don't fall down during wear. I purchased more so I can wear a fresh pair every day and not have to wash them so often. Great socks that I recommend highly. UPDATE: One year later, January 2018. All the original socks developed holes about an inch beyond the heels under the foot. My wife darned them, and then darned them, again. Now, she is sewing patches on them. The patched socks are still comfortable to wear. I am amazed at how thick and luxurious these socks are, except for this one spot. The elastic is still strong, also. The only reason I am keeping the holey socks is because that is the only part not good and can be patched. I just ordered some more and will wear them along with the patched socks. Wish I could find these same socks that would do a better job of holding up to wear.

Year review of these vs Wrangler vs Dickies.
Here's a year long review. Bought these wrangler western boot socks and Dickies over the calf work socks. These sock are really nice and they stay where you want them. They were close to the wrangler socks but I have to say the wranglers held up better. Now you should know I am 6ft 245lb and have CMT which causes my calf muscles to be thinner than normal and I also have heavy calluses on my feet. So sock for me need to stay up and be tough enough to deal with heavy calluses. I wear work boots and cowboy boots only. These socks were comfortable with both boots, but just didn't last the year with my issues. Both the wranglers and Dickies have..well minus one pair of wranglers. With that I wear the wranglers daily and the Dickies when I want or need something a little thicker. Nothing saying these won't work for someone else who doesn't have my issues. If you have questions ask and I'll try and answer honestly what I can.

Sock that just does what it says, almost stays the same after a wash
I bought both Gold Toe, and Galiva since one person said that Gold Toe was better, and I wanted to see which one was, since you probably seen that I gave this 5 stars, then yes Gold Toe is better. First I thought that Galiva was king, since it's first time worn, but the amount of fuzz it left, I didn't like it. Gold Toe didn't leave anything like that. The first time I expected some, but Galiva left way too much, Gold Toe barely any. Gold Toe also holds up better after a wash, barely any difference, with before and after. This also holds better around your leg, and not see through. It just does what a sock should do. Also I'm 5'9", ft:10.5 ordered the large, mostly got medium, but those were always a bit tight around my feet, I was worried that the large would go over my knee(since I don't exactly have long legs), but no just below it, like it says. The Fabric has the strands that are thick, so when it stretches it isn't see through, the other one(Galiva) stretches well but it becomes see through from up close; even though I still enjoy wearing them, for the softness, there's just more fuzz then I care to have/deal with, and there are practically none with Gold Toe. Considering the price of both of these socks, I think Gold Toe will fair anyone better, as it barely changes, from washes/uses, holds up well, does it's job of a sock, and I don't know what else to say of how good it is. Did a video review for Galiva where I also compare both of them, didn't let me post it on amazon so it on youtube, I'm working on a video review for this one, but the ending will be the same; comparing both socks.

Comfortable, mild compression socks.
Unlike many compression socks, these are easy to put on and take off because the compression is localized, not all over.

Superior Socks from Gold Toe
Ordering more of these Gold Toe socks right now, so I figured I would write this review and explain why. Having tried a handful of other "over the calf" socks and been very disappointed in how short and/or loose they actually were, I was obviously skeptical. But these Gold Toe socks truly are an over the calf size sock, reaching near the crook of my knee even! I have thick calves from previous years of bike riding (not cankles though...), slightly less than average length lower legs and size 9 feet and these socks fit great in my opinion. Unlike most other socks, the Gold Toe are a special blend of materials, and although they might not be as "thick" or "cushioned" as others, I find the combo just right to keep tension (no slippage even after walking 7 miles average at work in a day...) and still keep my feet dry and comfotable. They are not paper thin like dress socks by any means either, not even close. Not to mention the support my lower legs get from the actual over the calf length. Cant say enough good about the Gold Toe socks. For me anyway, they are just right....

They Wore Out After 8 Wash 'n Wear
Positive things to say: Initially they fit nice, went all the way over my calves and stayed there without sliding down my leg. Not So Positive things to say: After 8 wash 'n wear, the elastic at the tops of the socks started giving way and I found myself constantly pulling them back up throughout the day. Very annoying. Additionally, I was hesitant to put them in the dryer, so I let them air dry. As they wore out, I threw a pair in the dryer after washing them to see what would happen. They shrank. Enough so that they no longer went over my calf. Finally, I've had Gold Toe socks in the past and liked them quite a bit. I figured this would be a no-brainer purchase expecting the same quality as the past. Nuh uh. No bueno. Nothing is as good as it used to be anymore.
