The definitive way to view this classic OVA series!
To get the only thing that anyone could consider a negative out of the way, there are no bonus or special features in this collection. To be honest, though, that isn't really a negative for people like me who just want to watch the show! It's just the six episodes of the OVA and that's it, but the quality is great! The show looks and sound better than it ever has on VHS, and the convenience of having it all on two DVDs instead of the six tapes is the other major selling point! You can also switch to Japanese dub with English subtitles if you'd prefer, which I know some people will definitely like(I personally prefer the English dub, though). The basic back story is that potter Yo Hinamura is forced into becoming an assassin for the branch of the Chinese Mafia known as the 108 dragons. He has earned the nickname Crying Freeman from his wanting to be free and for the fact that he sheds tears after killing anyone. After going to assassinate a witness to one of his previous hits, he falls in love with that witness, Emu Hino. The first episode is very serious with some campy moments, but then episodes 2 through 5 go for a more ridiculous and over the top narrative with many jokes and laughable moments, but that doesn't make it bad, it makes them entertaining in their own right, and they are EXTREMELY entertaining, with some artistic action, interesting twists, and great laughs along the way. Episode 6, however, goes for a much more serious and dark tone more akin to the first episode. Something else that makes Crying Freeman stand out is that unlike most OVAs and anime, each episode deals with a new story. You'll have to see every episode in order to understand what's going on in terms of the characters, but none of the stories in the episodes are directly linked as if it was one long story.I recommend this collection to fans of the show and to those looking to get into the show! It's the best way to own it! Great art, animation, music, action, a mostly excellent English dub, and unique stories(both the serious and over the top) make Crying Freeman one of the best OVAs of it's time!

A Must-See Series!
I was SUPER EXCITED when I found Crying Freeman, the complete series, on DVD on Amazon.com. I used to watch the VHS versions, and said I had to have the DVD versions. Best of all, you can listen to the series with Japanese Voices as it was intended. I only like Subtitles, not the English dubbed series. So this is definitely a plus to have to any DVD Collection. It's hardcore, and has sex in it, so it's NOT for children.

Classic action anime.
This collection is everything right with old-school anime. It's super violent, filled with heroic machismo and the dude gets the ladies, even though they are trying to kill him.

This was a gift for a young man who only say the first episode, and he was dying to see all six. This is an old series from back in the day but an excellent series to this day.
