Great for Ensured Playability
These reeds can be a lifesaver when doing outdoor shows on hot &/or humid days, as there is nothing worse than picking up your tenor to blow, only to find nothing comes out, cause your reed has wilted... They are also great to have on hand when the reed that sounded fine at home inexplicably doesn't, once on the gig, cracks, or breaks somehow, just before you go onstage. I've used them on some gigs where nuance & subtlety are not as important, for while I think they are pretty nice sounding, they are not as warm sounding as regular cane reeds. For the little bit extra in price, they are definitely worth it, as more of them work, and they last much longer than normal reeds.

No breaking in, durable, uniform quality, great tone.....go figure
I'm not one who likes to carry around wet reeds. Somehow with my Jody Jazz mouthpiece and SA 80 series I tenor, these work out very well. There's no breaking in. The quality is pretty uniform. They are very durable and last longer than regular cane reeds. I only use these with my tenor, I use cane with my alto.

great
Love these reeds. As a beginner I was going crazy when I found a good reed and then it would warp or break. These are very consistent and durable. For an advance player I am sure there are nuances that I can't distinguish.

Pretty good solution between natural and synthetic - though may require tweaking to flatten surface.
I liked that these perform well, more durable and predictable than untreated, and they work much, much better than synthetic material. What I didn't like was that in order to get the reeds to work, it was necessary to process carefully sand flat the surfaces that interface with the Saxophone mouthpiece. That changed them from throwaways to play-for-days.

My favorite reeds
I use these reeds for my saxophone ensemble and my concert band, and I up the strength to 2.5 for my jazz band, when I'm really putting a lot of air through the instrument. They're very consistent, which is important to me. They don't have to be kept constantly wet, which is also important. This makes it so you can just throw it on and go. I don't have an ear for the subtle differences in sound that different reeds/mouthpieces/etc make, so I can't speak about that, but I do know that I keep coming back for these over the Java reeds that I was using. Not that Java isn't a great reed, but I just like these better.

The reeds work as decribed
I purchased the 2.0 strength and am happy I did. I went by another review that said the strength sizes are a little more than advertised. I normally play a 2.5 reed strength. I don't have to moisten them as much. My playing has improved thanks to these reeds

Way too soft.
There was no way the #3 reed I ordered was close to a #3. More like a 1-1/2. Returned.

Solid, sturdy, great for practice
Great plastic covered reeds The sound that they produce is slightly inferior compared to a normal cane reed, they sound more harsh and brassy, so obviously you will not be using them in performances. However, the upside to this is that they are very sturdy and much more durable compared to the soft normal bamboo ones, can be used in long sessions and if you want to practice in long sessions on your sax (and you do, since all good players do this) this is a must have. I have been using these for a while with one reed working well multiple months! They are also a bit easier to get a sound out of compared to traditional reed, so if you are just starting or practicing: These are really great
