It's a madness. As the previous reviewer said - most underrated manga out there. For my money this is one of the only comics of ANY kind (in English) that can challenge the current apex predator 'Golden Kamuy' (the other being 'The Promised Neverland'). I've read up to volume 9 in Japanese and can assure you that the plot, pacing and stunning artwork are consistent and virtually peerless. It's a violent fantasy action adventure that can best be described as a medieval Japanese 'Dirty Dozen'. In Hell (literally). Not for kids of course though the violence is not gratuitous but rather adds pathos. The book itself is the larger 'Viz' signature edition and so larger than your normal manga (it's the same as the editions of 'Golden Kamuy' and the stunning 'Fire Punch' by the same company) and you will be greatful for the larger size when you see the detailed art. This is the kind of product that caused manga to gain traction in the West in the first place and publishers would do well to support such superb manga rather than continually inflicting (presumably for political reasons) a lot of very niche and 'woke' examples of the form (*that have lots of sexual, but curiously no ethnic, diversity) which have little traction in Japan and very, shall we say specific or limited appeal here, whereas some of the best and most popular series go untranslated or unreleased for ages (or until everyone's seen the anime or read them illegally). Even this is nearly at volume 10 and has a slow release schedule in English. But I'm sure fans are familiar with such grumbles.Rant over. Buy with confidence!

Interesting
A solid start and the art is nice to look at with some cool flourishes! Hope this strong foundation remains throughout.

Typical copy and paste battle shonen
Utter garbage copy and paste shonen. I honestly thought this was going to be original as Volume 1 was ok but don't expect that to continue. Volume 2 gives up and just becomes yet another boring and predictable battle shonen. Yawn

A must read!
This is such a beautiful story. I’ve been reading manga for a while and this one is now one of my top 2. In the first volume we follow our main character, who’s a famous ninja serial killer, and his journey as to why he decides to go on this island. The story is being told in such an engaging and mysterious way that it always keeps you on your toes. The mystery behind the island and the new things we find out about it, you can tell, are very thought out. There were several times where I even I found my eyes watering because some of the characters really hit home for me. There are no “extra” or “useless” characters here. You’ll find yourself being stuck between who you root for to find the elixir. Beautiful story, gorgeous art style, and lovable characters with meaningful background stories.Recommend this to anyone who’s a newbie or an advanced manga reader!

Hells paradise vol 1
Kind of slow start, with the basic introductions of the characters and story with some mysteries here and there. Later you get a good grasp of all the characters and the goal of the mc/story. Really good worldbuilding and characters, story is still kind of vage, but I don't mind that part. Def recommendation in my opinion.
