I have no art background and I was able to teach a successful year of 1st and 2nd grade art co op class thanks to this book. The projects are simple, and supplies are easy to find. I loved the literature ideas to accompany the projects. I learned so much about art alongside my students!

I have an art background but struggled with putting together a homeschooling art program for my son. This book is the perfect answer. It’s well structured with projects made out of basic materials contained in most homes or easily purchased within a tight budget. The lessons are set up in a way that they can be used by almost any age group. I plan to make my own projects as we work through the book. If I counted correctly there are 90 projects. We will use this. Ok over the next two years, but it could easily be extended over a 3 year program. I highly recommend this book to homeschooling families or any children that have expressed a love of art.

I can easily teach science and math no problem even if I am not given any curriculum, but ask me to teach art and I have a panic attack. I love art I really do and I think its a very important part of a rounded education, but I am more of a craft person. I never took formal art unless you count that elective on American art history in which we just learned well history (not art theory or even how to draw). So I basically had NO clue what should be taught for formal art education in any way. I found a lot of free stuff online, but with no idea what was or was not appropriate. It was too time consuming to try to figure it all out... so I did some research on amazon looking at different books and bought this one by Evan-Moor. All I can say is thank you for showing a systematic approach to learning formal art without a lot of unnecessary wordage that I do not have the time to read! I literally can pick up this book and open it to the first lesson and just go (as long as I have a stocked art supply cabinet). If I really want to find a handout on a particular topic - it really is not that hard now because at least I know what I am looking for because I know what topics to teach and focus on. So thank for this book from the bottom of my heart... now I can go back to planning excellent science experiments ;-)

I was a little unsure how I was going to go about an art curriculum and I somehow stumbled upon this book. It works so well for us. For reference, I have a 5 year old. I will likely revisit some of these lessons or use them to create similar lessons as she gets older. Some of the lessons would probably be suited better for a child a tad bit older just because of the fine motor skills some of the activities require. But we still ge through them just fine and learning a lot about art.

I am using this book as a tool for teaching kids the building blocks, or"grammar" of Art. The elements of Art are taught chapter by chapter, and are easily grasped when doing the projects, all which are well explained and fairly simple. There are several projects to help teach each element of Art, and the required supplies are inexpensive and easy to obtain. While the kids need to follow the specific requirements of each project, there is plenty of room for creativity. This book does not teach the technical skills of drawing or painting. It is designed to teach the building blocks of art. It will help a child think more about how artists use these elements to draw the eye in to a work of art, and will help them as they create their own pieces. A very good book!

Really love how this teaching guide/workbook is laid. Great concepts that challenge the student to think outside the box. I will be using again next year.

Extremely fun art lessons. Might seem a bit basic for older children but I actually love that part about this book. My 4 year old can tag along, while my 8 year old does his lessons. I expect more from my 8 year old with the freedom to add alittle more or take some. On my review it will day moderate level of difficulty but in all honesty, I can make it as challenging or simple as I want!! 10 stars for me!

Useful but nothing I couldn't have thought up myself. Nice to have it all in once spot, though. Non artists might find it excellent.

Great ideas in the book to use with Primary students for when you don't know what to do for art projects with students. A great resource for teachers even if they don't like to do art because of lack of skills. These projects are easy enough to do

This book contains basic and simple techniques to introduce the students to artistic through reasoning and experimentation. It also contains artist and explane the artist’s techniques and they colud try to imitate them. 100% RECOMMENDED Specilly for CLILprogrammes

For people who intend to get into teaching art to kids I'd say this could be a good enough material to start of with and through time as you strat teaching art you will be able to add your own touch based on what you have learnt through this book, therefore I'd say it wouldn't be a waste of money at all... you could blindly go for it.
