Easy to assemble and works well
Excellent little drill for model making. Far better than the rechargeable pencil-style drills I have tried that are too high speed to drill the plastic parts I'm working with. This drill has no such difficulty with its decent power and lower speed. I had no problem assembling it and there are several easy to follow YouTube videos showing how, if needed.

nice little modellers drill
This is actually a model kit, but once built its a working modellers drill.Easy to make, took me about 30 minutes. Its a slow speed (single speed) drill for small drill bits, for model making. You don't want a fast drill for model making, as the heat will melt the plastic, so a slow speed drill is ideal.Manufactured by Tamiya who are are well known in the model making field for their excellent plastic model kits. This really is a useful little drill, I use it for drilling small holes in models, gun barrels, ship decks, vehicle chassis, etc, etc. Although it looks like a "toy" it really is a useful drill.Seems to be good quality for what it is too. Obviously no good for drilling walls, or actual DIY use, but for small plastic models it is fine. Recommended.

overall usefulness
great fun to assemble but a bit expensive for what is on offer. Once built it does the job that I need it for

You have to build the drill well worth it
It’s a nice drill more powerful than I thought it was going to be you have to build the drill but all in all very good I give it five stars

Should say it's a kit
I was surprised and disappointed to find that what from the advert had seemed to me to be a tool ready for use was a kit of plastic parts with a motor. Perhaps an experienced small scale modeller would have realised this or did I read the advert carelessly - perhaps the kit aspect needs to be mentioned with more emphasis? I have yet to take time to assemble it so cannot comment on it working usefulness. so only two stars = looks OK in bits!.

Tamiya battery drill
Fiddly to make ,could do with a more powerful electric motor

Make it yourself
You have to build this drill yourself, totally useless instructions fiddly tiny screws, waste of money, buy one pre built for similar money. Really disappointed in Tamiya.

Have to assemble
Feels more like a model kit than a model drill. Instructions were... vaguely informative and I'd have benefitted from a contents page to spell out what everything was before assembly. Eventually constructed it and seems to work ok
