You can do a quick hem easy to get out or roll waist if too long. This way it lasts longer. Also start looking for things like 4/5 and 5/6 it tends to work for both sizes. **Q: How is the rise in these pants? Will they fit well on a child that has a long waist or a round butt (my child has both)?** A: My son has a long torso, but they're very snug fitting. I did not see anywhere in the description that they were slim fit and/or skinny jeans but that is what they sent me. I do not like the fit at all. If you're looking for comfort and more of a relaxed fit I would not purchase these. I am thinking they don't come directly from The Children's Place but some other Amazon vendor or something. The waist is also elastic (since you say he’s slim that will be helpful).
