This bowl is absolutely beautiful. The paint isn't 100% "perfect" as others mentioned, but these are made by hand so what do you expect? I love the way it looks! I was able to make it sing on my first try, and was able to sustain a gorgeous hum for a really long time. The hum lingered for a good 20 seconds (give or take) after I stopped circling with the mallet. It's a beautiful tone that - at least for me - calmed and centered my mind increasing my focus. Even my pup was lulled by the sound and began dozing off next to me as I was playing it. It's definitely worth the money, especially for beginners. For those saying they can't produce a good hum or any hum at all, I would suggest looking up "how-to" videos on youtube. There's definitely a certain technique to it and it requires a gentle, steady hand. Happy humming everyone! <3

I gave this to my mother as a birthday gift. She's a therapist and has always been interested in things that relax people or that are used for meditation. I knew instinctively that she'd get a kick out of one of these bowls. Unknown to me, she had seen the brass ones before and thought they were a cool concept but she did not find them attractive.She LOVED this bowl, she found it to be the perfect mix of beauty and function. It's a very attractive bowl and It works well, I was able to get it going with little difficulty, although my mother is still working on it. It seems to be of generally good quality. The tone it makes is lovely and I understand a bit unusual for this size bowl which makes it fun and unique. It will fit perfectly in the palm of your hand. I was also impressed at how quickly it got here considering it came all the way from Asia. My only complaint was that it was wrapped up strangely and the mallet was kind of hidden in the wrapping. I really had to pull apart the wrapping to find the mallet and I was worried they may have forgotten to send it. I only mention it for future buyers so they don't worry if they don't see the mallet right away :)

I am very familiar with singing bowls and have played many of them before big and small. I have always wanted one of my own but the price always deterred me. I was so happy when I stumbled over this product. It is SO AMAZING. I receive the small green bowl, the cushion, and wooden mallet. When I first got the bowl it was smaller than what I had anticipated however when I started to play it, I was blown away. It sang almost immediately and the sounds were so strong. It’s the best little singing bowl I’ve ever heard. I think it is also safe to say that its even better than some of the larger ones in my local medaphysical store that are 5 times this price! If you are reading this I would highly recommend you get the bowl. I do plan on purchasing this item again as a gift for a loved one. Very very impressed and pleased.

This meditation bowl is beautifully painted, is made of a heavy metal and comes with a cushion for it to sit on. This bowl makes a nice soothing sound and will continue the sound for as long as you run the paddle around the edge of the bowl. You can have continuous sound for minutes if you choose. The bowl size is perfect for a shelf for display. The three prays painted on it are beautiful. The outside is the Tibetan Buddhist prayer for Peace, inside is a prayer for Wisdom and Wealth, and the bottom is the third eye for Removal of Obstacles. Overview:This is my first bowl, so I wanted something to try out that wasn't too expensive. Mine came looking like the picture, with the mallet AND the cushion. The paint job is not perfect, but I didn't expect it to be, and I like the way it looks. I think that with continued playing, the paint will wear off on the mallet some (a little bit of paint is already on my mallet), but I am looking forward to seeing it worn and used. The cushion is sewn well with some nice embroidery, and the mallet is a nice size for my hand. The bowl did have a very odd smell that gave me a headache when I first unwrapped it, but after I wiped it down with white vinegar it was better. I have read that many bowls contain lead, so be sure to wash your hands after playing just to be safe (and before you play, why not).Sound:The sound is nice and very clear. I didn't know at all what pitch to expect since the reviews have different answers. Mine ended up being a high D (D5 in scientific pitch notation, if you want to look it up). I suspect there may be quite a bit of variation with these bowls in terms of pitch. Striking it with the mallet causes a sound that lasts about ten seconds. I followed some video guides on YouTube to get the bowl to sing, but ended up having to do a lot of trial and error on my own to get it to work. I can get quite a loud, sustained sound out of the bowl if I run the mallet over the widest part of the bowl very fast to get it started. I can slow down a little once it has started singing, but I have to keep the mallet at the widest part of the bowl instead of at the rim. It's not difficult to get it to sing, but I still have to move my arm a lot faster than in the videos I've seen, which doesn't exactly create a peaceful and relaxed feeling. Perhaps my technique will improve so that in future my playing will more closely match the videos, but I suspect that this bowl is just not of the quality of those bowls--this bowl is thicker than it appears in the picture, and looks thicker than many bowls I compared it to online, which affects the ease of vibration.Bottom line: In the future I think I would prefer to spend more money on a much larger bowl that is lower in pitch and easier to play, but this bowl is affordable and works well enough for a beginner like me.
