Rightline Gear 100640 Combination Cable Lock for Car Top Carrier, Black/Orange

This worked great for our trip earlier this summer! Easy to hook up and adds another layer of deterrent for people wanting to snoop at 3am.

Used to secure my cargo bag; it’s a good product

It's inexpensive and made of plastic. The 2-foot cord was long enough and it was fast and easy to lock. Other customers say they cannot reset their combination but I was able to set mine to what ever I wanted multiple times just fine. Busted apart after about 45 days of use. I liked the little wolf sticker but it's really not made for heavy duty things like adult bikes. For toddler bikes and suitcases this works great but for locking up something you don't want to get stolen, make sure you have something that's heavy duty.

We have other bag locks for our luggage, but I ordered this because it was recommended with the Saddleback Bag. The lock is easy to set....just read the instructions, but warning....once you set the code, it can't be changed. I would like it better if it could. This lock kept our luggage safe and secure during our trip.

Pros: good price, extendable lock with zip lineCons: feels weak and easily brokenHonestly I love the concept. An adjustable combination lock with a tightening spring for the zip line. I had purchased this to protect my car top carrier from theft during my move across the country.I gotta say though, this seems more like a deturant than something that'll stop someone serious.The zip line can be woven throughout whatever zipper holes and car mountings you have making it secure enough. However, the zip line is crazy thin and I wonder if a pair of strong scissors could cut it, let alone wire snips. The housing is made of plastic and feels light and easily smashed.I guess to keep honest people honest this will work. Just don't expect anyone serious to be stopped.

I bought this item to secure my camera bag to a immovable object in my hotel room.This item failed after the first try at locking it - even before I used it on my bag.You are supposed to push in the cable release (large button on the side) to allow you to adjust the amount of cable you pay out from the lock. When you are done adjusting the length, you release the button, and it is supposed to pop back out and lock the cable at that length.After the first try at using it, the cable button would not pop back out, which not only allowed the cable to spool back in, but it also blocks you from inserting the cable tip into the lock. Apparently the button must be out before you can insert the cable tip into the locking mechanism.If you jimmy it enough you can get the button to pop back out, but the very next time you push the button, the thing jambs again.I don't know why Amazon insists in selling cheap junk without at least doing some kind of product review.

I purchased the item because it was suggested to go along with the rightline roof bag. Though I never used it because I figured if someone wanted the bag they could just cut the straps..
