Creatable World Deluxe Character Kit Customizable Doll, Black Straight Hair

When I was a kid, I asked my mom for a boy baby doll. She took the clothes off one of my girl baby dolls, stuck one of my brother's baby outfits on it, and said, "Here." When I saw the Creatable World dolls hit the market in 2019, I was thrilled. But by then, my kids were grown, and I had no other young children in my life. A couple of weeks ago, I saw Amazon still had a few sets for nicely discounted prices. So, I took the plunge. I have one doll now (blonde/straight hair). Three more will be coming over the weekend. I write for children, and these dolls will become my muses. They will be great for role-playing plot lines because these dolls can be any character I want them to be. They are a good size, well made, and child-like. As for price, the average Skipper doll runs around $9 to $14. Each one may come with a few accessories, but generally, they only have one outfit. CW dolls come with a plain tank and shorts (which can be underwear or part of an outfit), plus 2 tops/shirts, a jacket, three bottoms (one of which is a skirt), three pairs of shoes, a hat, and glasses. The clothes are well made with real zippers and pockets. The dolls are fully articulated and can stand on their own. So if you compare a CW doll (especially at reduced prices) to a Skipper or Barbie with several sets of clothes and shoes, I think you'll find the CW doll to be a good buy. These dolls are great for children who are trans, binary, or gender fluid. BUT they are also amazing dolls for any child. The kid decides the doll's look, character, and story. They are not like other dolls who are based on a TV show or movie. CW dolls encourage imagination and storytelling. I hope that someday Mattel will revive this line.

Well worth the $29- this doll is VERY sturdy (way more sturdy than Barbie or MH) but also very well articulated!- and has a very nice face! The dolls SIT DOWN perfectly (which is what seems to bug MY kid the most about Kelly dolls) The fashion pieces are surprisingly well made, they fasten with velcro in the back and are easy on little fingers. There are a lot of different pieces for mix and matching. The wig is nice and thick- but was definitely geared towards being STURDY rather than pretty- as the plastic shows around the edges when on the doll and is hard to hide. However, a bandana should take care of that. A better feature of the wig is that it is actually a plastic CAP that fits over the dolls hair pretty well. It "stays put" and yet is very easy for little fingers to put on and off- which is really nice. The packaging is also very nice and appealing. For those who care, the fashion pieces also fit standard fashion dolls with smaller chests. So if your kid already has some of the newer younger looking Barbies or fashionistas or whatever they're called- the clothing can be shared. Overall I was VERY impressed and my son very happy! I will get him another one of these things (if they aren't sold out) for Christmas. I might need to get them all!

We are so pleased with cute and trendy, little hipster doll! The doll is easily removed from the package and comes with an extra wig, four outfits, three pairs of shoes, a hat, glasses and bag! It is very reasonably priced, a great value! The plastic is nice, it's a heavier hollow type plastic, not injection molded. The doll poses very well. We like the versatile possibilities. What a cute child-like, innocent face with no make-up, and a young child, non-hyper sexualized body, with non-high heeled feet (so refreshing!). And finally, the clothes and accessories are really adorable and trendy also. The doll, clothes, and accessories come in a very nice presentation. Our only suggestion - less plastic inside the box. It would be nice to see the box used as a case for the doll as the box is sturdy. If there is a way to get rid of the extra plastic and make the box into a case, this kit would be even better. This suggestion does not detract from the kit at all though. It's a five star toy doll at our house!

I bought the "braided black hair" and the "blonde curly hair" dolls for my daughters as a way to move away from "just girls" dolls and because they are so different from dolls they already have. I am big on giving them a diverse collection because the world is not just blonde, white girls (even if my daughters are lol!) These are by far the best dolls in their collection. First of all, the dolls are gorgeous! I love that the hair on them looks more REAL. The extra hair - braids for one and curls for the other - are so nice! The clothing and accessories are fun too - and everything can be used on any Creatable World Doll. I found some extra sets of colorful hair at Target that were a big hit too. My daughters love being able to completely customize their doll and that each doll doesn't have to be a boy OR a girl. These have become my daughters' (ages 10 and 7) favorite dolls!

As an adult collector, I always want to get new and exciting dolls that go past the basic Barbie look, and these Creatable World dolls do just that. I bought the "cooper haired doll". I would say the doll has more of a honey blond or very pale brown hair, with red eyebrows. I paid exactly $13.99, good deals on Amazon come and go very quickly but read the reviews and watch reviews on Youtube and Amazon like this one before you decide to possibly spend $35 or even $45 and up unless you use Amazon Prime to save some money. My doll came two days earlier than expected and the package wasn't damaged at all. So let's start with the pros of this doll. PROS: 1. The doll themselves is STUNNING. They're youthful, unlike Barbie and Monster High dolls. I've never seen dolls that were children that had all these fun fashions and gender options. I love my doll, I've decided my doll is a she but is open to being he or them. Her green eyes, detailed eyebrows, and honey blond hair is why I fell in love with her along with most of the clothes. 2. Gender-inclusive, gender-neutral, and it's up to children/collectors to decide who their doll is. 3. The "leather' jacket, the white tank-top, white shorts, the red plaid flannel, the "snakeskin" leggings, the denim skirt, the baseball cap(is flexible and adjustable if you want it over the wig like a snapback hat) the book bag, the boots and both the shoes are my favorite! I loved the clothes with this set better than all the other ones. 4. Hands are removable for easier dress up with the jacket and the flannel. CONS:1. The elephant in the room and the worst thing about this particular set is the wig. The wig is bulky and doesn't blend well at all with the rooted short hair on her head. The wig is parted the far left diagonally, which reveals too much of the thick plastic wig cap. 2. Minor paint defects on the boots(some of the studs weren't painted silver as they should've been). While the white sneakers had a few dots of red paint on the shoe when it's only the soles of the shoes that are supposed to be red. The Vans like shoes with black and white checkerboard were perfect, however. 3. Minor nit-pick, but the shoes appear to be like Barbie shoes do where any shoe can be the left and the right, I prefer when it's easy to tell which is left and right but it's not a problem anymore. 4. There were two pieces of the clothes I wasn't too crazy about after dressing up my doll a few times. I don't really like the black splatter paint shorts and the purple basketball jersey, the top doesn't sit well on the shoulders and didn't look good when I put the jacket on it. On the topic of shirts, this set came two additional shirts the jersey and the flannel, but came with three bottoms; shorts, pants, and a skirt. I think it should've come with another shirt, instead of a third additional shirt we get a cool leather jacket. I think it would've been fairer to get another shirt besides the white tank-top the doll is wearing and the other two additional shirts, because in you get three additional bottoms besides the white shorts the doll comes with. Conclusion: If you want a unique doll to give or collect this is the doll for that. The minor paint defects are very easy to ignore. The clothes are high quality but the flannel is stiff, but with play, it will become less stiff over time. This doll is worth it if you love the doll and clothes and are willing to just scrap the awful wig.

I think my niece will like these (and I might have to adjust the review based on her feedback). It's cool that you can have short or long hair on them and basically make them different characters (and they don't come with pre-defined names). All indications, from customer and other reviews, are that most of this stuff will fit "Barbie's tween sisters" dolls like smaller versions of Skipper, larger versions of Stacie, and the Petite version of the new-ish Barbie Fashionistas line, so that's good. They generally won't fit full-size regular Barbies, though some Barbie stuff will fit these (especially accessories rather than form-fitting clothes). I don't know if these dolls are flexible enough to sit on a Barbie horse, but I guess we'll find out next time I get something for my niece! The ratio of price to amount of toy is better in these sets than in Mattel's other (mostly Barbie/Ken) doll lines. If my niece likes these, I'll get her more of them, and it'll only cost about half as much as the equivalent volume of Barbie stuff. Some of this might even fit Disney Princess dolls, though the proportions on those are a bit weird. I can't vouch for the claim that the clothing is a bit difficult to put on and take off for kids in the 5–6 age range. I guess my niece will tell me! It's a weird mix of hilarious, alarming, and disgusting to me that some far-right organizations totally lost their minds over these dolls and have campaigned against them, on the idea that they're meant to be "genderqueer". Oh, FFS. They're just ungendered, like Lego people are (which generally aren't male or female until you put man hair or lady hair on them, or snap the head and hands and feet into a dress-wearing body. And you can take an explicitly male Lego head, with a mustache, and put it on a girly dress body, and guess what, the sky doesn't fall, you don't magically turn queer, and Lucifer doesn't pop out of the toybox! Amazing!) Since girls and women don't all have long hair or wear dresses/skirts all the time to begin with, these dolls just match reality better than the usual Mattel fare, which seems stuck in 1957. Being male and not having a daughter, I can't speak directly to this, but I have read that many prepubescent girls have a lot of anxiety about impending bodily changes, feelings which can be exacerbated by all their dolls being shaped like exaggerated/idealized adult women. Dolls like these ones might be a bit of a relief valve, then (especially since childhood seems subjectively to last a really, really long time: a year of anxiety to a small kid feels like a decade of anxiety to someone who's 50, and probably has more lasting consequences). I think these are great dolls for the 5-9 age range, since they are meant to represent kids in that age range. LIke Ken and Barbie, they have no genitalia or nipples. They do not have exaggerated secondary sex characteristics (tiny waist and big Barbie boobs, or huge Ken shoulders), and they don't have stereotype-reinforcing "girls have to wear high heels" feet, but natural flat feet so they can wear regular shoes (probably between various doll sets of around the same size). Also, even if your kid loves grown-up Barbie and Ken, these provide an option for them to have non-baby children. And, since some of them can be made boy-ish, if you have a son in this age range, who has "action figures" (dolls marketed for boys) in about this size, these dolls can serve dual purpose as toys for both your son and your more traditional-doll-playing daughter. That was actually part of why these were developed; Mattel wants to ease some stigma about boys' doll-play without having to make every "action figure" be a superhero or space alien. PS: I don't think many of the short-haired versions actually look much like boys, though, even with the male/unisex (i.e. not skirt/dress) outfits on. The faces of this entire line look pretty femme to me. But I'm some old guy who had Star Wars figures and GI Joes who is now buying toys for a kid who grew up on anime such, where everyone has big eyes and other cutesy features, so my view on this is probably to be taken with a grain of salt ("OK, boomer").

I am SO excited about these dolls, I can't even deal with myself right now. The quality is just so good, so much better than any of the Barbies they've produced in recent years (for play; the collectible dolls are still quite amazing). This review is going to be long, so here's the bottom line: this doll is a blank canvas for a child to create their own perfect doll just the way they want it, and if tomorrow's "perfect" is different from today, they can change it. Some adults have their panties in a twist over the gender-neutral labeling, but the key word here is "neutral." This doll isn't anything until a child projects his or her imagination onto it. I would have been in 7th heaven to get a doll like this as a child!!! Frankly, the child inside this 48-yr-old is still in 7th heaven. So read on, if you want exhausting detail on everything in the box!! UNBOXING: what you receive is a good-sized box (a little larger than a dress-shirt box, and much much sturdier). You slide the doll set out one side of the main box, which has photos of outfit ideas, and everything is under plastic, in molded forms for each piece. There are NO strings or plastic bits attaching them to the box at all, so once you whip the cover off you are good to go. So many Barbies, I have inadvertently given impromptu brain surgery because they were attached too tightly to the box. Not an issue here, no adults needed, just open and play. THE DOLL: I was immediately impressed at the quality of the doll itself. The torso and limbs have a nice weight to them, they don't feel as flimsy & light as the similar-shaped Skipper dolls. The arms and legs are fully jointed and poseable - they're easy enough to move, but stiff enough to stay in place when posed. The details on the hands & feet are amazing! The feet actually have arches and discernable toes, along with fully moveable ankles (and, in shoes, can be posed so the doll stands on its own). The hands have lined palms, the elbows have a dimple. The face is just gorgeous! No makeup, like a kid. The rooted hair is in a modern style, with detailed designs "shaved" into the painted area. I just can't say enough about how well this has been designed and produced, it's just a great doll. THE CLOTHING: I picked this doll specifically because it had the cutest clothes (to me), and was not disappointed! I won't list everything individually because you can see the photos, but again I'm impressed by the quality. They attach with low-profile Velcro that not only makes for a better fit, but doesn't poke your fingers. The joints on the doll make them easy to dress, especially the super skinny camo pants, although I will say the thumbs do get caught in the sleeves of the jacket. Basically you get 3 tops & 3 bottoms, plus the plain white t-shirt & boxer briefs that it's wearing upon arrival. Those can be integrated into outfits too! THE ACCESSORIES: These are particularly fun, and again they've thought of everything! The feet fit comfortably in the shoes, and when properly posed, the shoes provide a stable base for the doll to stand on its own. The glasses actually stay on the head until you remove them (which is not the case with ANY Barbie I've ever had). The wig is kind of like a helmet that fits over the rooted hair, and you can place the part wherever you want. Most surprisingly (to me) is that the hat can fit over the wig just as well as the plain head! The wig is so much bigger than the head, these people are sorcerers or something. I will say, this doll does not have as much rooted hair as the others in the Creatable World collection, so the wig is not quite as secure: if the doll tips over, the wig WILL fall off. A little rolled-up tape on the inside of the helmet will do the trick if this bothers you. The only accessory that feels like an afterthought is the tote bag, but there's so many other great stuff that I'm not mad at it. CLOTHING SWAP: Since it is relatively the same height as Skipper, I wondered if they could swap outfits, and they kind of can. Skipper is slightly taller with a bigger butt, so the clothing does not fit perfectly, but it's very doable. However, their feet and heads are not similar sizes, so no swapping of shoes or hats. Obviously if you get more than one of these doll sets, they can trade clothes & accessories & even wigs all day long. My inner child kinda lost its mind at the thought so I ordered another as soon as I got this one, lol!! I was excited by the idea of this doll, but so much more by the execution! Buying them no longer became a "supportive ally" thing the minute I opened it; now it's a "this doll is fantastic and I need another one" thing!!

My 6-year-old LOVES this doll! The clothes are very cool and I like the doll's features. It is so freeing that they can look like a boy, girl, or non-binary child! I love that this doll is a child--not an adult--is posable and has feet designed to wear flat shoes. As I understand from the promotional video, they modeled the features on seven-year-old children which feels appropriate. The only draw-back is that the wig doesn't stay on. It sits on top of the short hair so if you actually play with the doll and no longer hold it upright, the wig will fall off. This does NOT seem to bother my child who is just so happy with such a versatile doll. I think Mattel can fix this on the next go around. Other characters are already on my child holiday list!

There are a few things that I don't quite like: * Head size is more like Monster High, not like Barbie * The jumpsuit didn't fit the doll (was slightly shorter) * Out of the box the hair was very flat. I had to comb it, therefore I lost the nicely defined curls. * Also hair rooting was too sparse in the back * The wig is useless However, even with these disadvantages, I actually like the doll very much! The body has good articulation, joints are tight, and the clothes are amazing! I also bought an additional fashion pack and everything is of great quality and looks actually wearable. Much better than the contemporary Barbie fashion packs and play range clothes. And I think that some of these may actually fit some Barbies, or Skipper, or Stacie. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.

He/she is so adorable. The female wig is a little bit weird when on the dolls head. But the clothes shoes and accessories are amazing.

I first came across the idea of ‘gender neutral’ dolls on a doll forum when I was researching and this led me to the Creatable World range on Amazon. I wanted to buy something different to amuse my eight year old granddaughter when her mother, my daughter, went into labour with the new baby, so decided these would be ideal. I bought two kits – GGG53 with copper straight hair and GGG5 with black straight hair, as these were the two that appealed to me the most out of the range (I think there are five in the range at present). I also found the GGG56 character (dark blonde curly) online secondhand (nude) and bought that one too. I didn’t think that one doll (or character) was enough to make a good game. So when the time came I took the new boxes to my granddaughter to see what she made of them. You lift the lids and there are the dolls packed nicely with their clothes into the moulded clear plastic.. You just take the dolls and items out, and ready to play straight away – no cutting off awkward plastic ties. (Then when you have finished the doll and the items all go back into the same place – very neat). My granddaughter took the lids off – her eyes swept the boxes – and she said ‘Oh I get it – they are boys, but they are girls too!’. We got everything out and she immediately slammed on the dolls’ wigs making them (in her opinion) into ‘girls’. We dressed them up but she didn’t play with them as such, at first. I give these dolls the thumbs up for quality and durability. They are jointed at elbows, wrists, knees and ankles making them very poseable. The clothes are varied, fit well and very well made . Each kit comes with three pairs of shoes and other items like bags, glasses. At a later stage, I tried a few Barbie clothes on these dolls – some items iike skirts, shorts etc will be ok and even some dresses. After a while, my ten year old grandson drifted in. I asked him if he would like to ‘create a character’ (I deliberately didn’t say ‘play with these dolls’) but was still quite surprised when he did. He took over GGG56 and left him with short hair and dressed him up (he said) as a rock star. Then we all played a department store game with the characters buying clothes and interacting with each other. My granddaughter gave each character two names – a typical girls name and a typical boys name. I asked my granddaughter if she was rating the kits out of five stars what would she give them – she said four because she felt there could be more clothes. I thought for the money they were good value. Since I bought (before Xmas ’19) the price has dropped which makes me wonder if these dolls are not selling as well as Mattel thought they would. I see that some people are buying the kits, splitting them up and selling the pieces individually as buy it now or auction online. This would be an extremely expensive way to acquire these dolls and if you are thinking of buying, I would suggest it would be far better to buy a full kit, brand new. The wigs are not really interchangeable between the dolls as their fringe, or front bit of hair, is always showing (unless you like a two-tone colour look!). I also didn’t think the wigs fitted as well as they should (though not too bad). Another review I read said that they would’ve preferred the dolls to be bald, with different wigs – I think that would’ve been my best choice too. I liked these dolls, my granddaughter did too – but when all’s said and done, they are just nice little dress-up dolls with pre-teen bodies .
