This Craftsman 25' tape has been my go-to for all kinds of projects—framing, furniture, even hanging pictures. The standout for me is the standout (pun intended), you can extend it a good 8 feet before it starts to droop, which makes solo measuring way easier. Numbers are bold and super easy to read, and the lock holds firm without slipping. The case feels solid and has should survive a few drops off the ladder without a scratch like it's predecessor. The belt clip is tight but handy. It’s nothing fancy, just classic Craftsman quality that does exactly what you need it to.

Best measuring tape available and the button makes retraction easier than the switch, needs less force than the conventional method and you can stop the retraction at any length. 10/10 would recommend to anyone

Best Tape Measure I’ve ever owned! I use it constantly and I love that it doesn’t automatically retract. You have to push a retract button to retract it which is very helpful when you pull it to a certain length, if you have to pull more out it stays in place for you to do that! I also love how long it is. Additionally it just feels good in your hands, holding it, the smooth glide of pulling the tape out, and the retraction doesn’t snap back it’s a smooth lie back in.

I purchased this Craftsman 25 foot self locking tape measure because it has good reviews and it is one of very few self locking tape measures that delineates the inches in BIG, BOLD font. Many tape measures drastically reduces the font size of the inches after the 12 inch mark to make space right above it for feet and inches. For example, the Komelon brand of self locking tape measure reduces the font size of "13" by half to make room right above it for "1 FT 1". And many other manufacturers do this as well. The problem is, when you want to read out a measurement, you want to be able to read it clearly and quickly, and more often than not, you only need one measurement rather than both measurements in 1/2 sized font. The CRAFTSMAN makes this clear choice, to only include the INCHES in BIG, BOLD font. So when you measure out the tape to measure, say, a table, you see 30 INCHES quickly and easily. There is no squinting, no confusion, no delay in reading out the measurement. This is exactly the reason as to why I bought this self locking tape measure. HOWEVER, the main problem with this CRAFTSMAN is the retracting function is not reliable and very finnicky. Once you go past about 40 inches, the retracting mechanism does not always work smoothly. I would say about 20 to 20% of the time (past 40 inches), the retracting function will not work unless you position the tape measure straight, position the tape measure at an angle, press the retract button twice, etc. For whatever reason, at longer distances, the retracting function gives you more trouble. The retracting button also requires more force to press than those of other tape measure brands. This CRAFTSMAN feels beefy and sturdy, but also heavy. This might work better for a work setting, but for casual home use, I might recommend something lighter. I am on the fence as to whether or not I will keep this tape measure. If the retracting function were smoother (not finicky 20% of the time), I would be incredibly pleased with this product. As it stands, I am uncertain if I will keep this.

Last year my 25-ft tape died after many years of use. The replacement didn't even last a year. This one feels like it will last many years of use. I like the locking mechanism. The markings are easy to read. Well worth the cost.

Nice quality instrument.

Good Measuring tape. It's not metric, so no cm reading, a little bummed about that but it's my fault for not checking the reviews closer. Not a big deal though, I just use it around the home. Nice weight to it and the self locking feature is really nice. I also like the colour on it. The price was a big plus too.

The item does what the tin says. It is small, it is portable, and it measures stuff. Very good item for the use I put it through. Has survived small drops out of pocket. Measuring desks and spaces between things? Great. Measuring household furniture to get moved and placed? Great. Build a house? Do not know, and will not be testing. Very happy with it so far.
