These are National Pipe Threads, not regular screw threads. Made of sturdy brass.
These are solidly made. Safe for oil, nonpotable water, gasoline ( not compressed flammable gas such as propane nor LPG ... no idea what their burst strength is ). As soon as medical condition clears, will work great with oil cooler ... NOTE ... use thread tape or the sealant ( pipe dope ) of you choice that fits your application for the fluids passing through the fittings ( all metal fittings ... if using stainless steel, always use a dry powder or liquid lubricant on ALL stainless steel fittings and ALL stainless steel nuts and bolts .. a dab will do you ... the milk of magnesia for your upset tummy is an excellent choice. Pepto is not ). Good product . Have used several times before. Used on other projects. CHECK W Manufactuer before using any metal product to store or transport sweet ( drinking ) water in your plumbing projects. Natural minerals and such in water, could leach poisonous metal compounds from these and other metal fittings. any questions ... DuckDuck, Google, Jeevs, or other search engines .. or ask your Uncle Wildon. We all have an uncle Wildon, don't we ? Most modest and smartest person in almost any room, no matter how crowded.

We replaced the tubing - along with this fitting) behind our fridge for the water line with garbage pvc at least 3 or 4 x and it wasn't until we FINALLY ordered the metal tubing and THIS fitting we got it fixed for good! VERY HAPPY TO REPORT WE HAVE HAD ZERO LEAKS SINCE! Highly recommend!

holds up in outdoor use
Part of a critical connection between the main house waterline and the irrigation system. Due to expansive soil, the connection to the irrigation line must be flexible.
