Why does the description say 100% leather?

No idea. But i doubt that leather would last as long as this thing. Had it for several years now and its held up great. Got it because at the time, at work i had a radio, case for the phone and a case for a hand held computer (like the ones at home depot) all clipped on my belt. Needed something sturdy and this fit the bill. Still looks good and it held everything without being strained or really tested. Been through at least 4 year working outside with those devices daily and its still the only belt i wear. Been through 4 pair of $200 leather boots and still on the first belt

i have the single layer 5.11 nylon belt. is this version two of those layers sewn together, or two thinner layers sewn together?

This is NOT two of the single layer 5.11 standard belts sewn together. I got my dual layer today and have had my single layer already. I compared the 2 and the single layer belt is thicker than one of the layers on the dual layer. Yes the dual layer is thicker and more rigid but it is not the thickness of 2 of the standard 5.11 belts but its fairly close

What holds the belt in place?  Someone said there is no velcro.

The buckle crimps the belt. It holds fine for me even when I'm concealed carrying.

Question 4

I am looking for a good belt to wear for backpacking, camping and bushcraft. Would this be a good belt or would it be a little bit overkill?

I use one for work every day and one for backpacking , fishing , hunting,and even for bushcraft , and i found to be excellent. This belt is not nearly stiff as 5.11 operator belt, i have 2 of those and they are very stiff , this one is not and it's very comfortable,I didn't have any adjusting problems like others and i own my belt for over 4 years, once you put it through buckle it locks,it's a solid belt, I think it's excellent for tasks I mentioned.
