Incredible Light - Even More Incredible CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!
In spite of its size, this is the most powerful bicycle headlight I have ever used. Battery took approximately 5 hours to charge right out of the box. I have used the light for a total of 4 hours now, and it is still going strong, and having the strobe feature is a bonus for daytime riding. I feel more comfortable on the road knowing that oncoming traffic can see me better. If you want a powerful light at a reasonable price, this is it! This light is quick and easy to mount and dismount on the bicycle. The battery pack was also very easy to mount to the bike, and is perfectly sized so as not to get in the way. The standard beam offers enough light for in-city riding where there are plenty of street lamps, but doesn't give quite enough light on either side when riding the trails and back roads. After I installed the diffusing lens, I had no difficulties navigating outside of the city. The lens was super easy to install. I haven't tested the light out in the rain yet, but I am confident that it will perform outstandingly in inclement weather, just as it does in good. But what do I like even more than the light? THE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I have not had such a pleasurable experience with customer service representatives anywhere in a very long time. Even though I ordered my Bright Eyes headlight new, the product box arrived already opened with a couple missing pieces (diffusing lens and velcro straps for the battery cord). I contacted Bright Eyes to inform them of the missing pieces, and Don was extremely courteous and understanding of my frustration. Even though it turned out to be an Amazon warehouse issue and NOT a Bright Eyes issue, Don was quick and happy to fix the problem. I wasn't tossed around from one person to the next, I wasn't shrugged away. Bright Eyes responded to my message within hours, immediately sent the missing pieces to me free of charge, and kept constant communication throughout the whole process. When the missing pieces arrived, I found that Don included a tail light as a bonus, but I was more blown away by the HAND WRITTEN NOTE. No one does that anymore, and I very much appreciated the time that Don took to write and include it in my package. THAT is how you treat your customers, ladies and gentlemen!! I purchased the Bright Eyes headlight on a whim, and I am VERY glad that I did! Bright Eyes, you have made an extremely loyal customer!!!!!

Good light set for the money
This light set is very good for the money. The headlight is very bright on high, and bright enough on medium for most of the type of riding my family does. We ride mainly on roads, and some light trail riding. We ride with the light on blinking in the daytime, and on medium at night, high when on a trail at night. We bought 4 of these. One had a stuck screw that prevented me from installing the diffuser lens, and although the seller told me through email he would replace it, I'm thinking I'm going to put the regular flat glass back in the other three lights. The wide beam is nice on a trail when riding fast, but we don't really ride like that, and we had to put our lights on high to match the brightness of the one without the diffuser on medium. I like the idea of running them on medium so they will run a lot longer before the battery dies. At one point on a recent ride, my son and I were riding on a dark road side by side. A car came to a stop sign ahead of us waiting to turn left to get in front of us. Apparently, he thought we were a car, because he waited, and waited, and didn't pull out until we were quite close and he could see we were on bikes. I have a rear view mirror on my bike, and I could easily keep track of the family in the mirror, even in the daytime, over quite a distance. The little tail light they include (at least they did when I bought mine... it said "limited time offer" and doesn't say for how long that will be offered) is very nice in its own right. It simply wraps around the seat post. Press the lens for on, again for flash, and again for flash at a different speed, and again for off. It is only about as big around as a quarter, but VERY bright. I could see my boys easily from a half mile behind them. Unscrew the lens to get to the batteries. Besides the nice tail light, the kit comes with a lot of useful accessories. An elastic headband for using the light off the bike (or you can cut the elastic off and use the plastic plate as a helmet mount with some work). The elastic is kind of tight on my head, but I have a big head. It comes with two each of two different sizes of "rubber" (silicone?) bands of for attaching the light to the handlebar or headband mount. The bands are pretty thick and should last. I attached ours so they hung down under the handlebar, instead of sitting on top like in the pictures. I felt they would be more stable like that, and we have had no problem with the lights shifting aim point. There is enough wire attached to the light and battery that I was able to attach the battery to the top tube and plug it directly to the light. For those bikes where this might not be possible, there is an extension wire long enough to put the light almost anywhere, and enough velcro ties to secure the wire so it won't get tangled up. I bought 4 of these, and they have all been flawless other then the one screw that was stuck. Quality seems to be quite good at this price.

Buy this light
I was so excited to get home from work, on my bike of course. I ordered same day delivery, love Amazon for that. I am not disappointed at all with this awesome product. I did a research on mtb lights and found the typical brands and costing oh so much money. I found lights w 1200 lumens and they were $350 on the cheap and $400-500 was the standard price. The reviews were not all that convincing of spending the dough. So naturally when I visited my trusted Amazon site, I found Bright Eyes at a reasonable price. UNDER 50 bucks. OMG this must be a total rip off of something what I was looking at in the reviews I read. So with hesitation I skimmed through a variety of other lights by various makers. Then I read a article on cree lighting. With all this info I then came back to the Bright Eyes light and proceeded to read the customer reviews. With all the positive things being said about the staff at this company I became convinced that this product was what I wanted. I immediately opened my carefully packaged box and held in my hands a impressive piece of packaging. I opened my magnetically closed lid to expose a beautifully crafted quality aluminum housed light. There is an extension cord, velcro ties, rubber band anchors, charger, battery cased in a high quality nylon pouch w/ attached frame straps. Everything looks to be very well put together and no sign of being "cheap". I mount the light on my handlebars and go for a ride. Now let me say something about handlebar mounted lights. I find them to be annoying. Why you ask? Because, whenever you make the slightest movement of the handlebar the light follows. When in reality I am still traveling in a forward path. so to overcome this awkward lighting situation I reused the headband attachment plate as a mounting system for a front headlight that mounts to my headtube w cable ties. Now when I travel down the path my light shines bright in front of me and my handlebars are free to move because of rock or roots or whatever. It's much better because I can adjust the light more than w it being on my bars. I am quite impressed with the brightness and depth of field that is lit. I went for three rides in my neighborhood and hit the trail as well all in the first evening of owning it. Also I'd like to add that the battery was fully charged so I was able to enjoy this impressive light as soon as I opened the box.I included pictures of my mounting system that is jar-proof as well. I went on the trail and hit some good jumps and it stayed in place. Unlike on the bars, they have a tendency to move there. I want to say this lighting system is a great value that far exceeds my expectation. If you don't buy this light you will be disappointed. Buy this product. It is worth every penny. I ride my bike everyday as I gave up driving back in 1997. This light will instill full confidence while riding at night.

Good light with a few weaknesses
This is a good light. I have had it for 2yrs. I mountain bike and road bike, but I find myself using this as a headlamp most of the time for heavy outdoor night activities. I am a "Lumens guy" and I like bright lights. I have not measured the output but it's plenty bright for me as compared to my other clip on bike lights. I have thrown this in our ski boat at times when I think we might risk coming into the dock after dark. This light is bright enough to work for that in a pinch. It has a few weaknesses: 1. Others have pointed out the lame handlebar mounting system. They are correct. What I did to combat the light bouncing its way towards pointing down as I ride, was to mount the light UNDER my handlebar instead of on top. The light is more stable mounted underneath since it is essentially hanging and it is more stable as it can't go down any further. 2. No strain relief on the wire coming out of the light fixture, especially when mounted on the included head strap, the wire coming from the light is bent at a 90deg angle exiting the fixture and is strained heavily. After 2yrs of light use, the light stopped working. I have basic fixit skills for many things, so I disassembled the lamp and found that indeed one of the power wires had broken loose from its solder connection on the board. I resoldered the connection, and then added a zip tie tightly around the wire INSIDE the lamp body. Now, the tight zip tie takes any strain if the wire is pulled. The zip tie "bottoms out" against the inside of the wire exit hole and doesn't allow any strain on the wire at the circuit board. It was a bit of a pain, but I did it. 3. Battery life is okay for me. Charges quickly. As others have said, do not leave the light plugged to the battery when not in use as it drains the battery very quickly even when off. I just unplug the light when I stow my bike and it keeps its charge. I agree with other reviewers that if you are a rider who rides a lot in the dark, that this light may not meet your needs and you should spend the extra money solely because the mounting is weak and let's the light bounce around. For a few dollars more, this company could have a better mount and a 5-star light easily. It meets my needs just fine. I have attached a photo of the disassembled light showing the white wire broken loose. Sorry but I didn't take any pics of my repair job for you DIY guys.

Buy this light! :)
I bought this light for my wife's mountain bike. I do a lot of night time single-track riding and have much more expensive lights but wanted something that would provide good light and not break the bank for her bike in case she didn't like night rides. Out of the box, the BRIGHT EYES Helios Fully Waterproof 1600 Lumen Rechargeable Light comes with the spot light lens installed. It has a very strong, bright white light that creates a circle about ten feet wide on the trail ahead. Switching out the lens to the diffuser creates a moderately wider beam but drastically softens the edges which vastly improves the single-track riding experience. Switching the lens isn't difficult but it does involve some very tiny screws which could be lost on the trail. I would strongly recommend making the switch at home where you won't lose them. On two hour rides, the beam does not weaken and the housing did not become overly hot. The battery pack is huge in a good way and easily straps onto the bike frame. We have 35mm handlebars and the mounting system held firmly without rolling forward. On bars with a smaller diameter it might be necessary to use some bar tape or other material to thicken the mounting location. It comes with a ton of attachments for various mounting options and is even mentioned to work on top of a helmet with the battery presumably in a backpack or pocket but while the light isn't particularly heavy, it is too heavy for a mountain bike helmet. We found this light with the diffuser lens to be an excellent match when partnered with a dedicated wide beam helmet light. It got on my radar when I read about it on various MTB website light reviews and I'm glad I came across it. For the price, you'd be hard pressed to find another light that will perform as well. Where it needs to be improved is that it is not totally water resistant. The lens has a rubber gasket and the power button in the back has a rubber grommet type cover but where the power cord feeds into the housing from the bottom could potentially leak water in if one were to submerge their bicycle while crossing a river, etc. This isn't a scenario many riders will come across and rain will not present any problems at all. There would be virtually no chance of damage in a rainstorm but I would be wary of using a hose on it while washing the bike for fear of water pressure pressing up and getting water in the housing. Thankfully, mounting and removal is a sixty second job at most. Also, if anything happens to it, the company will respond to your messages on Amazon incredibly fast and does everything it can to right the issue for you. They even send out an Amazon message offering you extra free mounting bands as a thank you for buying their product. I've gotten a ton of compliments for this light and had a bunch of friends get the same light because of what they saw. Buy this light, you won't be disappointed.

It's HOLY CRAP bright! GET IT!
I received my light today and its even BETTER than I expected. I read thorough reviews before purchasing and decided on this light mostly due to the reviews but then also motivated by the price. Because of the price I expected an element of "cheapness" to the product or accessories and I couldn't have been more wrong. I unpacked the light and tested it in a darkened hallway. When I first turned it on I was sufficiently impressed with the brightness - i decided to see what the other modes looked like and BAM! I didn't realize the 1st setting was the dimmest and it only got brighter after that - other lights start bright then you have to press again for dimmer settings but this one is opposite. Comes on the dimmest setting 1st. The medium setting was even more impressive and the high was HOLY CRAP bright! It also flashes. I have no concerns being able to see well into the trail on my mtn bike, or if I'm on the road cars will definitely see me coming. I was curious about the size of the light before I received it, was hard to see online how big it really was and i was afraid it might be too obtrusive, but its not. I've included some pics of the light mounted on my bar between my phone holder and go-pro mount. It was also very easy to mount with the included straps. I had read some reviews where the light moved on the bar after mounting so I placed a rubber gasket under the base before attaching it to the bar with the rubber o-ring straps. It feels very secure. I used the included velcro straps to make an extension for one of the battery pack straps so i could mount it close to my bars on the top bar. Its a great fit and wont get in the way at all. I used the other two velcro straps to mount the headlamp bracket to my helmet, when i get the second light it will alternate between a helmet light and my other bike. The taillight that came with it is perfect for my mtn bike, on the trail it will give enough light to be seen but not blind anyone behind you. It won't replace a Bontrager for road riding but its great for off road or as a second running light. I haven't tried the diffuser yet, the beam on the light with clear glass has enough edge lighting i don't think I'll need the diffuser but I'll have to see it at night to decide for sure. Having the option included is great. Don't hesitate to buy this light - I'm buying two more after I post this review, one for my other bike/helmet and one for a xmas gift. BTW, the seller was also great, sent me an email before I received the light with instructions and tips. I couldn't be happier!!

A true waste of money
TLDR: If you are looking for lights that actually let you see on the trails, look somewhere else. Go with a name brand light that has a lower (but real) lumen rating, or just try some other Amazon brands (SaharaSailor if you find it), but don't waste your money on these. See pictures for a comparison with a few other lights. Long story: My son and I use lights for mountain biking at night, on difficult, but familiar trails. I like the simplicity of a single, helmet mounted light. For the past 10 years I had relied on a Bikeray I bought at a bike festival, and a SaharaSailor light I bought off of Amazon for my son (for $30 in 2015). Unfortunately this spring I misplaced these lights (thought I left them behind on a trip), so I bought two Bright Eyes lights (1200 and 1600 lumen) as replacements. My first impressions were that the BrightEyes seemed considerably dimmer then what we were used to, but I did not have a good point of comparison. Fortunately I found the old lights, and the difference is ridiculous. I took a few pictures for comparison, including the name-brand Outbound Lighting Hangover helmet light. I used the same fully charged battery pack (that came with the Bright Eyes) to run the Bright Eyes/ Bikeray/ SaharaSailor for this test (OBHangover has a built-in battery). My takeaway is as follows: - Bright Eyes 1600/1200: These lights are nearly useless in the trail. Unless you are planning to use them for toying around the neighborhood, stay away. Buy a decent all-in-one battery/light combo for the same money and it will be brighter. I didn't even bother taking a picture of the 1200 lumen light's output. The light, as tested, has the diffuser installed. This is supposed to spread the beam wide, but it's not really wide enough for mountain biking, and the diffuser has a very sharp cutoff at the edges. Overall there is just not enough light to go around (see side-by-side image). - Outbound Lighting Hangover At $125, by far the most expensive. It is also the brightest, with the best (properly engineered) wide beam pattern. Super light weight, with a battery built in, so very convenient as a helmet mounted light. - SaharaSailor (advertised at 5600 lumens in 2015): These lights I bought from Amazon in 2015 are ridiculously good. No, they are not 5600 lumens (as originally advertised), but they are nearly as bright as the OBHangover, for 1/4 the price. I see them again on Amazon, now advertised at 800 lumens (probably accurate if they are as bright as my old ones), and will buy/try another set. Note that this light is the bulkiest/heaviest. You definitely feel it on your helmet, but can get used to it. - Bikeray: Now more than 10 years old, with a single LED, definitely less bright than the SaharaSailor, but far brighter than BrightEyes. Super small and lightweight, but unfortunately no longer sold. I hope this helps someone out there. May bright lights be with you!

If you value your life, buy this light.
Lights should be thought of as very important and necessary safety equipment that shouldn't be cheaped out on. No matter the distance, do not hop on your bike without a helmet and (if riding in the dark) your light. Forget about the price point for a second, the budget friendly rechargeable lights are not bright enough to see with, be honest, and will probably go out after a couple falls or bumpy roads. I live in Phoenix, AZ, a fairly over populated city with decent lighting, still not enough to be seen during dark times while on a bike. Do you expect that every driver out there will be looking out for you, even if they see you, you need to make sure you are 100% visible on your bike, DONT CHEAP OUT ON LIGHTS. I don't believe there is such a thing as too bright for the city road or feeling bad for blinding oncoming drivers, if the light is seriously that bright that customers are worried about blinding drivers, THAT'S A GOOD LIGHT. Would you prefer to ride with confidence or have a near miss every night because your rechargeable 300 lumen LED is just not enough light to save your life. Don, product specialist, emailed me confirming payment, emailed me an hour after the item was shipped, and emailed me to confirm if I received my package. All of which surprised me with how excellent the customer support is. Package was delivered in one day, undamaged. Everything advertised came in the box with a slightly different rear light, but it's free so who cares. I have bought numerous bike lights (all rechargeable and the brightest I could find) on average $20+ all a rip off, it's a joke to have something that is intended to save your life be made to such low global standards. I always thought mounting the battery pack would be too hard, how silly as it couldn't be any easier. This light is advertised as 1600 lumens and although I haven't and will not scientifically prove that, the light is very bright, even on its lowest setting it's superior to a budget light and brights up my backyard. I'm a dedicated cyclist and I can not believe I rode around depending my life on a cheap light, it's scary to think about it now with such a powerful beast mounted on my ride. Take my word for it, cough up the dough, buy once cry once, great light. I will update my review after 6 months or the light gives out whichever comes first. *EDIT* I currently live in another state and don't have my road bike here. However, the light held up for 2 years and I would still be using it now if my bike was with me.

Very good overall light!
I have this light mounted on my E-mountain bike, it was easy to install, and in the short time I have had it installed it seems to work great. It is winter where I am, and dark by 17:30 so it was a very welcome addition to my bike. It seems to be a very solid piece and well made, I have not been able to test it's water proofing but I am sure it will hold just fine. I did experience an issue with shipping but the seller was able to get it sorted and made things right.
