Warm, Cosy, Firm - Impressed by This Purchase Here
We were moving home and bought this to replace a queen-sized inflatable air mattress (which had felt like a spine-chilling cold stone surface overnight, despite it having flocking, 16" thickness, and was placed on a thick pile carpet in a heated 75F/25C room during a 50F spring time night). Needing a warm cosy temporary bed, we came to know that sleeping pads with filling, insulate cold much better but most were single sized or triple or quadruple the price of this. When we zeroed in to this Kamp-Rite Queen Self Inflating Pad - it turned out in May that all the major retailer incl dept stores, marts and sports stores, had them listed online with 2 weeks wait for delivery or required express shipping that costed just as much as this product - only this seller could promise a 4-8 days delivery and it very very impressively arrived on the 4th day! It really is very easy to inflate - just open the valves. To deflate for storage however, is challenging - the instruction does not say how so I tried closing all the other valves and at the last valve I use a battery operated pump to draw out the air - the mattress half-curled and formed a giant 'pipe' but is hard to be rolled up to minimise the space it occupies. Most of all - it ended the cold spell fast, hurray!

Having a back that gets stiff & sore easily (bad lower lumbar discs)
Having a back that gets stiff & sore easily (bad lower lumbar discs), this was superior to any other camping mattress I have used. Primitive camping for 3 nights with not so perfect ground area. I was hopeful it would be the key to more camping in my life and I will say it proved to be the winner.I had to open the valves for more air the second night with 2 adults having slept on it. The third night it felt even flatter. Not sure if human error or what else I could have done to fix that other then perhaps to have a rechargeable cordless 2 way air pump to blow air in to fluff more of the inner foam. But still found it better then an air mattress since we didnt wake up with our bottoms on the hard ground while head & feet shaped in V formation. You really should use a 2 way air pump for sucking out the air when rolling it up. I found it to be the only sure way I get it to fit back in the bag as another reviewer suggested. Total pain when I tried to go without after its initial living room air out period before the trip.

Love it!
I bought this to use in my Hybrid Camper in the fold out end over the existing mattress. I sleep where there is a fold in the mattress which is over a lip on the platform. No matter what I put there for padding by morning I felt like I was laying on a ridge. This mattress fixed that - almost like sleeping on my bed at home! Some people have mentioned it smelled when they first opened it up but I didn't find any thing awful smelling. It plumped right up as soon as I opened the valves though I left them open for a while to allow the foam part to to fully expand before closing them. Closing it up was not that bad. 2 adults and one 8 year old child rolling as tight as possible then closing the valves. We then unrolled it and rolled it up again opening one valve when we got towards the end to get out a little more air. It fit in the bag it came in with room to spare. The down side is that it is a bit big and bulky and heavy but well worth the money for a good nights rest. I just put it on the floor when the camper is closed and I have ordered another for the other fold out.

VERY Comfortable, May not Inflate like a Thermarest Though...
Inflated it the day I got it so that the smell that other reviewers noted could dissipate before our first camping trip with the new pad. While there was a bit of an odor, it was nothing like what other reviewers had said, it was very mild and went away within an hour or so. It's very comfortable (my personal test is whether my hip bones touch the ground as that leads to the most painful and uncomfortable camping sleep for me .. it passed!). The one concern of mine is whether the mattress will inflate further. My thin thermarests inflate beyond interior foam whereas this doesn't feel inflated when I sit/lay on it. To be fair the instructions mentioned leaving the valves open for "a few days" upon initial inflation and it's only been 18 or so hours, so I'll continue leaving the valves open and report back. You can't beat the comfort though!

Awesome!
This is Awesomeeeeee, way comfier than an air mattress. A little thinner than I expected but still plenty of comfort. I was also under the impression this could be slightly inflated, it can't really because the are no one way valves or any seems so it kinda just balloons with the slightest air. It makes it feel kinda like a water bed which is cool, but whatever. To put it away it takes atleast two people and some sort of air pump to suck the air out. I think this could be also achieved by one person and no pump with a few one way valves and just rolling it up.

CAUTION!
Do not buy if you are thinking of using this car camping and don't have a bunch of space available. It's a nice fluffy mattress, but even with a bunch of room I had planned on using, this thing is just too huge and too heavy to be useful/usable. It is pretty easy (but takes a while) to get the air out with a power deflator, and to roll it up it is best to have 2 people because of the width, but making it the same size as it ships in the box (about half the volume of the storage bag) isn't that hard. Unfortunately, if you want to keep it (like any self-inflating pad) in good shape for years to come, then you should store it inflated. Got room for an extra queen size mattress to just lay around?Another note about "trying it out", mine arrived in a box with about 5 layers of tape so it had obviously been returned a few times -- mine adds another layer (sorry to whoever gets it next). I unfortunately selected that I didn't want or need it to return the item and Amazon tacked on an extra $26 for shipping and pickup. So be forewarned about that option (first time I've used it and you can't go back and change it, of course).

Good if you are aware of the limitations.
Good quality and nice & thick. Some of the more expensive pads have the outer material bonded to the foam within, this one does not. All pads like this seem to say that they must be stored inflated with the air intakes open which is a bit inconvenient for a mattress of this size. Not really a fault of this particular product but more of the type of item in general, just good to be aware of before purchasing so you have the space ready. It rolls up fairly well but will take 2 people to do it properly and you can't change the length, it will be rolled up but will still be as long as the width of the mattress itself so make sure you have room in your car/truck for it. For me it was exactly what I wanted to go with my Teton queen-size sleeping bag.

... a 5 night trip using this mattress and very satisfied with its performance
Just returned from a 5 night trip using this mattress and very satisfied with its performance. Had to open the valves to re-inflate a bit after night 3, but not a big deal. Much more comfortable than traditional air mattress. One thing to note: manufacturer recommends first inflation should take 2 days, so give yourself enough time to do this prior to any trip. Made a huge difference, and mattress inflated very quickly (within an hour) on arrival at campsite.

Skip it
Tried to give it a good chance as I read that it sometimes takes a few days to fully inflate the first time. It never really inflated and after the first time we actually went camping the return date went by. The return date started from the day it was ordered. Not happy with this product , not a full size queen and was uncomfortable
