## Description

Power, Tone, and Playability — with Classic Looks to Match!

Review: Good little git fiddle! - Gretsch has always been a fav. Of mine. This in my opinion is great for the money. I have a fender jazz master and a fender telecaster an this Gretsch is my go to for just noodling around and the color is beautiful I got blue one.
Review: GREAT FIRST GRETSCH for recording and gigging - now my fav - These new Made in China Gretsches have a lot going for them. The metallic finish, binding and hardware is excellent - the mahogany body, nicely carved maple top and larch fingerboard are all well made. The scale length is fine, Bigsby stays in tune once setups are made. More importantly, the guitar rings acoustically unplugged, plugged in and the blacktop filtertrons and Gretsch switching manage to get you the range of classic Gretsch sounds, from clean country (with a little less midrange scoop than the hollow-bodies), to overdriven rockabilly to big time rock with the proper amp. Well done Gretsch/Fender. The downsides are few: despite great double cutaway access, the neck is very chunky (compared to an SG or Tele), and can get to be handful around the 12th fret. Perhaps this is a tradeoff, compared to an SG for example, because the guitar as a whole is very solid, deceptively heavy, the neck joint and neck feel stable and durable. Factory/store setup was pretty good and only required minor tweaks. My only comment is that the guitar plays just a bit clunky and stiff, like a lot of new Chinese guitars. I suspect that will play in well, but that going to the G6000 series (made in korea) will be an overall smoother instrument. Overall - great value for money, a fun, giggable, versatile and definitely great for recording guitar, and as my first Gretsch does everything I could ask for. .... but still, gonna save up for that upgrade. Additional note a couple of years later: I put in tv Jones setzer pickups, CTS pots and this guitar has become my fav gig rig. Very versatile clean or distorted, love the gretsch master vol and tone controls for live work, very stable bigsby. Will not upgrade. This is it.
