I am very happy with this sketchbook. The paper quality is very good and it can take watercolor like a champ; even on both sides of the same sheet. I have yet tested it with alcohol markers, but would imagine some bleedig will occur. Overall very nice everyday sketchbook.The book doesnt lay completely flat when opened, but that was expected with this type of binding. Also the cover isn’t black (as I thought) but dark brown.

Couldn't wait to start painting in it, I've been looking for an affordable sketchbook that could withstand paintings like oils acrylics.so far I've only used gouache. but since gouache is like acrylic and watercolors child I believe it could withstand both. that paper barely buckled and the gouache painted on nicely. WILL PURCHASE AGAINdont know how itll work for markers since I dont use them but for waterbased mediums, i would recommend

This is the most durable art journal ever. Ive never used Moleskin ofcourse but have used everything else in the market. I love how this one is reasonably priced and it takes acrylics, watercolor and all media. The size is perect for my pocket book and its well made. If you are into art journaling please buy this one. You can never go wrong.

The pages are very thin. Even pen bleeds through.

LOOOOVE THIS! I am addicted to Moleskin journals, but they can get expensive. I wanted to try something new, but worried about the quality of the new journal I chose. I shouldn't have been - this is fantastic! The pages are nice and thick, keeping media from seeping through. I love drawing on this paper with my mechanical pencils - the lead lays down beautifully, and it's so easy to erase without leaving stray marks. The only (very minor) complaint I have is that the lead smudges a little on the paper. I didn't realize that was even happening until I had to erase a good sized area. It isn't bad - like I said, I hadn't even noticed prior to erasing - but I also wasn't using the journal in the best light. (Yeah - I'm guessing that drawing in bed late at night probably reduced my smudge detection.) I still love this journal and am thoroughly enjoying my time with it. I've used lead, ink (pen and Dr Ph Martin's Hydrus), watercolors, acrylics, and ink from a stamp pad. I am really impressed at what this journal has been able to take - and I look forward to throwing many more products at it. I really love this hardbound little beauty!

I love strathmore paper. The mixed media paper is perfect for watercolor, gouache, collage, maker, ink. I love that even the hardbound strathmore books open up flat without the pages coming out! Amazing quality!

Good size, great paper quality for what i am doing, mixed media art journaling. Only downside is it doesnt quite lay flat, will work on the binding to loosen it up a bit more.

This is a great art journal. It is made extremely well with heavy duty paper that is suitable to all types of media including watercolors. I haven't experienced any bleedthrough. It also stays open fairly flat making it easy to work in on a flat surface. The size is great for traveling.
