May be in the top 5 of the greatest vinyl releases that I own...
This is a FANTASTIC vinyl release. Superb quality and sound. I’ve owned this on CD for years but it really stands out on vinyl. As an avid vinyl collector, I can not recommend this enough.. As for content, the music is still just cutting edge. Power pop similar to Jellyfish, or DaDa from this era and a studio masterpiece. Unfortunately though because of the subject matter and airwave overplay it sits among one of the most disposable music genre categories in history. But, don’t let that influence your decision on this it’s worth every dime, and it’s lyrical content is both challenging and thought provoking powerfully addressing modern hypocrisy in the Christian faith how not to fall prey to it. So be prepared, it’s not your typical Christian pop candy but it is definitely a stroke of genius as a studio adventure in sound. A limited vinyl release so get it while you can!

Sound and style varies from song to song. As if Christian alternative had several genre is happening at once on the album.
DC talk left Christian rap/pop behind to lead the forefront charge of 90s Christian alternative. Jesus freak was the anthem song of most every teenager in 90s Christian culture. Thinking we would change the world as we grew Jesus freak porn fuel on the fire. But listen to the message, it's not one of changing the world but rather acknowledging Christ and taking unabashed risk for it. Knowing right off the bat you will not be the popular crowd and you may well be the next Jesus freak to have their head taken off. But you don't mind that risk. Because the king rewards his servants greater than what sticking around in this life can provide. The rest of the album is great. Though the sound might be slightly dated my 12-year-old daughter who had never heard the album loved it! The messages within could all have been written today. But at the same time may not have been written in this day and age. Because the kings of the earth might be taking the heads of Jesus freaks soon, and being a Jesus freak is overrated. And the things of this world we can feel and they feel nice. We all said we were Jesus freaks back in the 90s. If we are honest with ourselves can we say it today? To quote a line in between songs on the album, we acknowledge Jesus by our lips but deny him by our lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.

The Album That Inspired A Generation!
The DEFINITIVE CCM record; this album broke down so many barriers within Christian music, both within churches and in the mainstream. The album was unapologetically Christian, with the title track "Jesus Freak," but also expressed their artful, soulful side with the hit song "Between You and Me," that was played on both Christian and Mainstream radio for years. It also contained the heavy hitting grunge rock of "So Help Me God," but mellowed out with the humbling "What If I Stumble?" and the slightly more upbeat "In The Light." This should be in any collection of groundbreaking, iconic albums.

First Rate Christian Grunge Music With A Power Message About Living
It's not so much about the Christian music label placed on this album when first released in the mid 90's. The sound may sound a bit dated for 2018 listeners but the songs are still fun to listen to and carry a powerful message about everyday living about real human emmotion and not so much about "Jesus Stuff" as perhaps the title implies. Jesus Freak is just a fun album with first rate production. The re-mastered CD sounds great!

a true classic
This compilation of songs by the g group dc talk is truly a timeless classic. Very few CDs can boast the ability to remain current, not sound dated as this one can. If they released it today, it would go to number one easily. Most artists give you 3-4 good songs per CD, and the rest are "filllers", dc talk gives us (on this CD, at least), 10 outstanding songs, 13 if you include the hilarious Jesus freak reprise, the endearing storytelling by Mrs. Morgan, and Kevin Max's Poem "alas my love." With such introspective songs as "what have we become" & "what if I stumble", to the fun "colored people" and "day by day" to the titular "Jesús freak", dc talk created an American classic that even by their own admission, they never realized would be this epic. If you grew up with this music, you can only hope dc talk get back together again and give us some more of this magic. When you hear Kevin Max and Michael Tait collaborate on Newsboys' "God's Not Dead" you can feel the chemistry ooze through the speakers; I'm sure Kevin and Michael are up for it, hey Toby Mac, get with the program, will ya? We want another dc talk collaboration.

One of our favorites.
We very excitably bought this, and it came with two different records, one DC talk, and one Queen. The seller was quick to help us fix that issue, and we have listened to the album a bunch now.

Disappointed
Description stated that it came With artwork, insert, and disc. Not the case. No insert, no artwork, and a disc that’s scratched and had been written on.

Good Used CD
The cd was shipped quickly. I've listened to it twice, no problems at all with it. A little wear on the case, but that's not unexpected. Great price, great music, I'm happy with this purchase! Thank you!

This album is amazing (that's my view as a bassist)! The best album of the band. If you're not a man fulled with prejudice, this album is for you!
