Q: guys,, does this one sound better than the first model?? or is it just the same sound on newer technology???

I bought my father an original and liked it so much I bought the II when it came out - it's almost the exact same sound. Both sound fantastic for the size and almost identical, but my father's has slightly more bass, and I mean slightly. Someone measured it and it came up 2dB louder on the old unit, but since the drivers are the same it's either programming or just the slightly heavier older battery that contributes. Q: can you leave it plugged in almost 24/7 without damaging the battery?

I have not left it plugged in all the time. The first one I had stopped charging after 2 months. It was exchanged for a new one and the battery on this one no longer charges after 3 weeks.

Q: Can you disable the voice alert function ? I don't like my devices to talk to me.

Yes, you certainly can disable that function. Here are the steps:1- Turn the speaker on 2-Press and hold Volume + and Volume - at the same time until you hear confirmation that voice prompts are off 3- Repeat to turn voice prompts back on

There are multiple new features besides the speakerphone. Increased battery life (10hrs vs. 7), pairing with 2 devices at once, standard MicroUSB charging cable, voice-prompts for Bluetooth pairing, multi-function button, possibly better bluetooth range, and new colors. Perhaps others as well.
