Its unwavering commitment to high-quality audio capture has consistently impressed me. Whether I'm in the field conducting interviews or working on intricate recording projects in the studio, this recorder has proven itself time and time again. The dual XLR inputs with phantom power have been a godsend for connecting professional microphones, ensuring that every nuance of the sound is faithfully captured. This level of audio clarity is paramount in the world of interviews, where capturing the essence of every spoken word is crucial. The four-track recording capability has brought an unprecedented level of versatility to my work. It allows me to record multiple sources simultaneously, offering creative freedom during both live recording sessions and post-production. The user-friendly interface and well-designed backlit LCD screen make operation straightforward, even in less-than-ideal lighting conditions. High quality audio recording of a full high school band
We needed a quick, affordable solution to our inability to hold a full concert for our high school band due to COVID-19 restrictions on large, indoor gatherings. This device, when paired with our already available equipment, was more than up to the task in the hands of our capable Arts Department instructors. The four channels allowed us to capture and highlight different sections and performers as required by the musical selection, and the batteries in the device allowed for multiple uninterrupted recording sessions longer than an hour. We paired the audio recordings with a video log that our Arts Department filmed independently, syncing the two together during editing. We definitely ran up against some limitations as we were capturing music from over 50 performers all at once, but we were very impressed by how we were able to quickly pivot from our concert plans to a music video production by using this device. Highly recommended.

Over a year in use
This product has made many of my projects come true and it still works a charm. The batteries it comes with are not rechargeable but they have lasted 2days of recording so I still appreciate it.

Go-to field recorder
This thing is a staple in so many workflows for a reason. It tracks multiple mics REALLY well. 90% of the time, I'm recording a stereo source (2 mics) and it handles this without issue. The quality of the recordings make life easier in post workflows. Plenty of headroom if you're not clipping (obviously). Its not perfect though. The design of the device is really showing its age. USB-C is absent (uses mini), it relies on AA cells rather than a recbargable cell, so prepare to pack batteries in your field bag. In my experience, depending on your recording config, batterh life can shortrn rapidly. Also, on occassion, the start up or boot time can take a REALLY long time. This is apparently the case when larger SD cards are in use. As this device debuted when large or VERY large SD cards were few and expensive, I get it. Even though this has become an almost required piece of gear, an updated design is sorely needed.

Excellent sound quality recordings
Be sure to read the manual. Adjust the recording level before recording. This will give best quality. Small and sturdy. Consumes batteries quite quickly. Worth it.

Impressive recording device
Just follow the directions and you get a great recording. I used this to record 20 tracks for a CD of pipe organ music. Good choice for the price.

Great product easy to use
I use the Zoom H4N Pro with my camera to record live concerts. Sometimes I get a direct XLR connection to the board but most of the time I don't. The H4N is super easy to use. Straight out of the box just put in a 32gb SD card, 2 AA batteries, set your recording levels and it's good to go. The microphones far exceeded my expectations when I recorded Judas Priest on their 50 years of metal tour. So much better than the cell phone audio you get on utube. The batteries last a good while - Not 100% sure how long but I always keep a couple of sets of fresh on hand just in case. The only part I do not care for is the Generation 1 micro USB connection it uses. Granted, you don't really need it except if you want to connect to a computer for updates or mixing software etc - Seriously - that thing needs to go. Otherwise - its a great product.
