The diameter is 8" wide. Hope this helps. Take care. **Q: This seems like no rivets on the inside, but doesn't go on the stovetop. Am I reading right? Seems nice.** A: We love this pot. Always use on stovetop. Works fine with or without rivets. **Q: how far above the water does the strainer sit?** A: There are approximately 3 inches between the bottom of the sieve insert and the bottom of the pan that holds the water. So you can have less than three inches of water in the pan before touching the bottom of the sieve. It depends how much you want to steam but I usually put in a little over 1.5 inches of water in the pan which leaves a little less than 1.5 inches space between the water level and the bottom of the sieve. **Q: does the lid fit on bottom pot without using the strainer?** A: Yes. Fits the same on the bottom pot as if on top of the steamer itself. For if you want to keep what you cooked in the pot with the lid on --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/155532073-nevlers-3-quart-stainless-steel-steamer-pot-with-2-quart](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/155532073-nevlers-3-quart-stainless-steel-steamer-pot-with-2-quart) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-27*
