If you didn't know, the more your throat burns after eating olive oil, the higher quality the oil. That burning is the same thing in ibuprofen. If you chewed an ibuprofen pill, you'd get the same burn. The bigger the burn, the more heart healthy it is. That burn is caused by oleocanthal. This is top notch olive oil and it tastes like you just pressed it yourself. The flavor is burning and of deep green raw olives. If you want a mild olive oil, I would stick to store bought such as Goya. If you want a true healthy, rich, flavorful, deep experience, then this is for you.

I have many ingredients in my kitchen that I don’t give much thought to: salt, black pepper, sugar, flour, and (typically) olive oil. This olive oil is unlike anything else I’ve tasted. It has a strong peppery flavor that is simply delicious. As other have mentioned, I too have visited the mill where this olive oil is produced. The family who runs it takes extreme care of their olive grove and maintain some trees that are over 1,000 years old. This is my go-to olive oil for any recipe that doesn’t require heating the oil (if you’re going to heat the oil to sauté, you’re better off using typical grocery store olive oil). One bottle typically lasts me about 6 months. It is very much worth the high price (most of which is due to shipping - if you find yourself on Corfu, you can grab a bottle at any market for €35). Fun fact for you: “The Governor” is in reference to the first President of Greece post Ottoman occupation. His name was Ioannis Kapodistrias and he was a pivotal figure in modern Greek history. This olive oil pays tribute to Kapodistrias as he was from the island of Corfu.

Very light tasting high polyphenol rich olive oil. Started a regimen a few months ago that included a tbsp every morning. Awesome quality

This olive oil is far superior to traditional low cost supermarket brands. Even among premium olive oils Governor's is a pricey choice. The very best thing about this olive oil is it's utterly gorgeous bottle & elegant packaging. If you're purchasing for a gift, Governor's olive oil offers a most impressive presentation. The advertising is informative & accurate. You won't go wrong choosing this oil. Where Governor's fails to overwhelm me is in its taste. Governor's tastes good, very good compared to many olive oils, but it's milder & less robust than what I prefer. My personal favorite remains Papa Vince, which has a more peppery, intensely olive flavor. For those who prefer a slightly milder flavor, Governor's is an excellent, top quality choice. Please note that this is not a mild olive oil. It's simply less intense than what I prefer. I've frequently read compelling arguments that olive oils should be filtered. Heathen that I am, I base my olive oil purchasing decisions on flavor. So far, the oils I've preferred have been unfiltered. I suspect this is coincidence rather than cause. IF I find a filtered olive oil that I greatly enjoy I'll buy it. Filtering, or lack thereof, simply isn't a part of my decision making when choosing olive oils. It's best to seek olive oils priced such that you can comfortably indulge rather than needing to hoard for special occasions. Enjoy peak freshness & bountiful flavors rather than see the premium qualities of your olive oils fade with time. I purchased Governor's in the white bottles two times & both times found that I preferred Papa Vince olive oil. While Governor's isn't my favorite olive oil, it is an excellent choice, & one that I don't regret. It's possible I'll purchase it again to share with friends & family who prefer olive oils less robust than Papa Vince. If you don't find the price daunting, & you enjoy trying a variety of olive oils, this one is definitely worth trying.

Fantastic but too expensive.

I love the olive oil in the clear bottle. It smells and tastes like freshly cut grass just like it is supposed to and you can see the crystal greenish color. You experience the typical burn at the end in the back of your throat if you are taking it straight. How could you afford to put this on food? Not sure. Anyway, the bottle we got in the white jug did not seem the same. And at the end of the bottle you could look down inside and see sediment. Creeped me out. Yuck. I should have trusted my senses and told them something was wrong with that batch and gotten a new one if they would have let me do that, but didn't realize what I would find at the bottle of the bottle. I did order again out of the clear bottle and glad I did. It tastes wonderful. It is my treat for the day. I didn't used to like olive oil at all until I tasted some really good stuff.

I am very happy from the product. The communication with the seller is also very good.

I've waited a long time to purchase the real EVOO, expensive yes but I keep it for our dinner salads only what a difference in taste. You could drink it, it's tasty and light. Hope I can do it again someday. It goes a long way also compared to cheaper oils. What a treat

Das Olivenöl ist hochwertig, schmeckt und die Verpackung sieht normalerweise sehr edel aus. Problem, es sollte ein Geschenk sein, aber leider ist die Verpackung geknickt und gerissen und sah somit nicht mehr brauchbar aus.

Favorite olive oil, ive purchased a few times. My joints feel good when I take this. Love it
