Croydon, wherever that is......
Tony Stark faces an enemy who knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test him. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him.As he fights his way back, Tony discovers the answer that has secretly haunted him.....The location of Croydon.....So we all know now that Iron Man 2 wasn't the best movie around. But Downey Jr. was still awesome in it.And it's a great move putting Black in the helmers chair. The man has written some of the greatest action movies of the nineties, and KKBB was a great movie with knockout performances from the two leads, so why not recreate the magic?I can understand the concerns regarding The Mandarin twist, it's probably as damning as Stallone taking off the helmet in Judge Dredd, but in Blacks narrative, it works, and it throws everybody off guard.Kingsley in these sort of roles, really hams it up, and going in blind, I wasn't sure of what what to expect, but it worked, and Kingsley really is self deprecating in his brilliant role.stark is as sarcastic and as funny as he has ever been, and the one liners he has are not only funny, but really respect the faithful Sci-Fi and movie lover.Set pieces are great and the Air Force One scene maybe a tad overlong, but the payoff really makes it worth the while. The rest of the cast are as good as always, and Pearce seems to be having a ball. The original trailer for this was something of a curve-ball, I was honestly expecting some sort of Dark Knight type movie, but it's as bright and breezy as all the others.Maybe in a few years time, I will like this movie less than I do now, but it really exceeded my expectations, and I had a lot of fun whilst watching it.A really good, funny movie, with a lovely human touch, and a great post credit sequence.

Another one for the Blu Ray Collection
Robert Downey Jr plays a great role in continuing the Ironman saga together with the Avengers. I gave this a high rating owing to its action and continued quality as a comic super hero screen production, and of course great appeal for my genre. This like the other comic super hero films is one that you will watch frequently and want to add to your collection. The blu ray version is fantastic and whilst I have not got 3D equipment I purchased this edition so that I can have that option later. I look forward to the next comic super hero movies.

what a marvel !!!
I always order my Blu rays from Amazon now, and pre order if i can, i have had three go down in price before and after and instant refunds for the different on their pre order promise. As for the film itself and blu ray transfere etc, I felt the video quality and sound were stop on, but i am no expert, just good enough for my eyes and ears on my home cinema,I think this is the best out of the three but all equally watchable, but love this one as its post avengers assemble,

The Second Follow-On Film of an Interesting 'Avengers' Character - Dumbed-Down but Entertaining and Very Good on 3D Blu-ray
After marking the first venture into the Marvel Cinematic Universe then having a sequel just 2 years, and only one other Avengers film in-between, later we had to wait 3 years and watch 3 'other' Avengers films ('Thor', 'Captain America: The First Avenger' and 'Avengers Assemble') before the 2013 release of 'Iron Man 3' hit the screens; the only proviso was that he did of course feature in 'Avengers Assemble'.This production marked a time of recent and significant changes in several ways for Avengers films and, IMHO, had a content somewhat divergent (good, but mostly bad) from what we had been accustomed to in not only 'Iron Man' films, but 'Avenger' films in toto....Despite enjoying this film, but not as much as IM/IM2, whatever my opinions are about some of those negative aspects one thing that cannot be ignored is how massively successful this release was. Continuing the commercial success of 'Avengers Assemble', which became the all-time third-highest-grossing film, 'Iron Man 3' became the all-time fifth-highest-grossing film and easily the most profitable 'Iron Man' movie of the 3.So, as far as plot goes for this 3rd foray into the world of the 'Avengers' most 'colourful' character, it is MUCH less of a sequel than 'Iron Man 2'. This time the plot involves essentially 'new' material, with less harking back to the historical aspects of the character or Stark Industries; instead, we have new 'villains' who seem to have cropped-up largely independent of anything related to the 'Avengers' past.....This means that the plot is really quite run-of-the-mill, following the general overall 'classic' ingredients of an 'Avengers' film - BUT, as mentioned earlier, with some distinctly different slants from any other 'Avengers' film I've seen. So, I don't intend to say anything more about the plot, since it is really quite a straightforward 'IM vs villain' storyline, with those added 'slants' - do read the Amazon synopsis for a very wordy, but ultimately rather vague outline though !Thankfully, the core qualities of great special-effects and sharp action remain (but there is less snappy dialogue as things are often darker-still than 'Iron Man 2').It also presents itself very well on 3D Blu-ray.Back to those divergent content, slants....Firstly, Jon Favreau is no longer the director but he still appears in his usual IM acting part. This IM film follows the trend started with 'Thor' of also having a 3D version. This was the first Marvel film following The Walt Disney Company becoming Marvel Entertainment's new 'corporate parent' - IMHO a significant marker....Uniquely, the plot includes a child 'sidekick' character :- This aspect really grated with me,- AND for me seemed something of a contradiction as the film continued the usual 'Avengers' trait of having a '12' viewing certificate so why have such a character,- ESPECIALLY as the viewing certificate guidelines for this film are the most 'restrictive' of the 3 IM films !The plot has a massive, undetected by me, 'twist' - which admittedly I did like.It contains 'toilet-humour', which admittedly I did find rather funny and all the more surprising as it is heavily-related to when the 'twist' is revealed.Add to that my other observation that the plot involves essentially 'new' material, with less harking back to the historical aspects of the character or Stark Industries and you can see how differently some (me !) might view this film.A final plot observation is that although there are flashback scenes, the present-day events in this film occur a few months after what happened in 'Avengers Assemble', knowledge of which is required....The production-values of the film are equal to IM2, with much 'equipment' on show, a lot of explosive action and decent special-effects. Again, there are a number of notable acting performances but Downey Jr remains dominant, just as before; unfortunately, there are periods involving 'that' child sidekick character which I didn't enjoy at all. There is also far less drama this time and it is more often than not of an even darker nature than IM2. Any humour present seemed to be related to the 'villains', rather than Tony Stark. The Stark very rich 'playboy' tag is also less significant this time, hence less strays towards 'sexism'...So, the baton-passing of the director duties from Jon Favreau to Shane Black are VERY noticeable - especially as he also has writer credits for the screenplay. As we should expect from a modern film (but not necessarily in 3D, as I've since discovered !), on 3D Blu-ray (viewed on a 4K/UHD resolution TV) things look and sound very good. This is another effective/satisfying (post-filming converted) 3D presentation I have seen from Marvel films, although the effect is more to do with depth in a lot of the expansive sets rather than form. The picture is flawless and the DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 soundtrack clear and active, but most importantly I found no discernible classic 3D 'issues' - hurray !*** My feelings about the 3D are significant because I've now watched quite a few 'normal' movies in 3D (eg 2 subsequent 'Captain Americas', 'Avengers: Age of Ultron', 'Ant-Man', 'Max Max Fury Road') and I felt some weren't very effective and I also found presentation issues - most notably with 'Captain America: Civil War'...In contrast, ALL the animation films I've watched in 3D have been exceptional. For me, the IM3 3D quality falls somewhere between 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' and the superior 'Ant-Man'.Like most big features the 3D is on a dedicated disc with no extras, so you also get the 2D disc (the one sold separately) to include the standard Blu-ray extras. The notable extras consist of a commentary track and, in contrast to the IM2/3 releases, only a few relatively short featurettes - all yet to be perused.I've attached a photo of the case back with all the disc info as Amazon omits it.So, like all 'Avengers' films I found 'Iron Man 3' to be well-made, but it's no sequel to the 'Iron Man' story per se, as the plot is more 'classic'. There are also all those 'differences from the norm' I outlined earlier, with the child sidekick being the most irritating and ultimately something I found inexplicable to be included. It also misses most of the usual IM humour, but on the other hand there is instead humour with other characters. Nevertheless it still has many of the positive Tony Stark/'Iron Man' credentials despite the screenplay having an easier job to cover/reveal 'Avengers' back-story.It also looks/sounds great on 3D Blu-ray, BUT the extras count on the included 2D is more limited than usual and again it is a pity that you have to watch in 2D to hear the commentary.

Love this film and in 3D it really pops
I just love this series of movies and in fact all the MARVEL films, It's the kind of film you can sit down and simply enjoy, the CGI is awesome, the plot isn't bad, was better than second one and equal to the first film I think. Love it in 3D though, good enough value on it's release and I like how you get the two Blu ray versions on two discs, means me and my Dad can share the set, thus halving the price :)
