Review: Works Great - Love this for my craft projects. It give things a nice shine and protective coat. Great for decoupage, or adding a shiny coat to your finished product.
Review: Works like glass on polymer clay!! - I bought this not sure if it would work that great on polymer clay. Oh my gosh my pieces look like glass. After I bake my polymer clay I add one coat of this stuff and my items are left very glossy. If i put a second coat (which I rarely need) but if I do, it makes my polymer clay items look like they are made of glass porcelin. Nobody can believe my items are made of clay. I recently bought an iddy biddy jar of sculpey gloss for close to the same price. This DecoArt works just as well if not better and you get waaaaay more then you would in the iddy biddy jar from Sculpey. The only trick to this one is don't run your paint brush over and over the same spot. Put plenty of Triple Thick DecoArt on your brush and run it over your clay. At first you will see the brush marks but as it relaxes on your item the triple thick blends together and you won't see your brush marks. But if you go over it and over without giving it a chance to settle, you will dry the brush marks on. This stuff dries super fast. I know it sounds difficult but it really isn't. I recently made a Santa Maria Ship out of polymer clay with sails and all. I made this sales with iridescent glow in the dark clay. This triple thick gave it a glossy glass appearance as though I molded my ship out of glass. Then the sales brighten up even more with this triple thick gloss. At night the glow in the dark is even more intense and the ship looks like the Disneyland ride Pirates of the Carribean. Okay hope i convinced everyone not to try all those other glosses that I spent so much money on. This was cheap and you get alot of it and hardly have to use that much. It has a smell but nothing that you have to use outside or anything.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: The instructions say to use an acrylic brush... Are there any affects if I use a natural bristle brush?**
A: I would use a brush with artificial bristles only because artificial bristles are finer, and not as stiff as natural bristles. Natural bristles might leave brush marks in the finish- although this product is self-leveling, meaning it flattens out as it dries, so that may not be an issue. I have also found that natural bristle brushes shed more than artificial ones.

I would go to a hardware store and buy some inexpensive artificial bristle glazing or paint brushes- make sure to "pluck" them well by pulling on the bristles to remove any loose bristles, so those don't end up in your finish. You can wash these brushes with soap and water and re-use them.

If possible, swatch test the product on an object or painting that isn't important and try applying it with both a natural bristle brush and an artificial bristle brush. I paint in acrylic, so I don't use natural bristle brushes; you might paint in oils, and use mainly natural bristle brushes so you are more used to those. Either way, you can see how the product performs with each type of bristle by doing some test swatches.

**Q: Does anyone dip their piece in the jar and let it drip dry?**
A: I've been told to thin it down very little let it dry between coats and do two coats, sounds like it would make the product go farther.

**Q: Is the cleanup with this simply water? Can you reuse your brushes after using them w/this product? How long does it take to dry? Is this waterproof**
A: Yes, you can clean up after using this product with water. Although I would always use some kind of soap (any dish soap will do, or shampoo- whatever inexpensive soap you have on hand-) while washing your brushes, to be sure you are removing all traces of this product, which is liquid plastic. Massage the soap into the bristles- you may need to do this more than once- and rinse well.

If you have adequately washed your brushes, yes, you can re-use them. If you have left product in the bristles, they will dry stiff, and the bristles may then stick together and you might have to discard them. I dry my brushes by laying them flat on the edge of a table or sink, with the wet bristle part of the brush extended beyond the table or sink, so air can circulate freely around the bristles.

No, this product is not waterproof. It is water RESISTANT, but if an object or painting finished with this glaze is subjected to enough moisture, the finish will re-wet and may bubble up and/or peel off. If you require a waterproof finish, use some kind of solvent-based top coat, such as Varathane. However, you cannot clean up a product like Varathane with water. You will have to use mineral spirits or other volatile solvent to clean your brushes with.

**Q: I have tried several glazes that turn tacky in the heat (say, a day when it is 80-85 degrees or so). Is this glaze heat-resistant?**
A: That is a tough one because of the variables. The answer is yes with a couple of cautions. If you use it in cold or dry weather and it hardens, it will stay hard in hotter temperatures. If you use it in humid weather, it stays tacky for quite a while. It works well on glass, paper, wood, ceramics, and metal. It does not work well (chemically) as a glaze for polymer clay unless you coat it with something else before using triple thick. Unlike some glazes, it stays clear, though I have had success mixing it with a small amount of walnut ink for an aged look. There is not a glaze that I have found that works for every application, and this is the best general purpose one I have ever found and have been using it for years. Price-wise is it such a bargain, I encourage you to buy a jar, try it, and have fun experimenting with it. You can thin it with water if it starts to get thick, add glitter or color to it with great success, and it is a great sealer. Since we are already into summer, it is a good time for you to try it out. I hope this helps! I LOVE Triple Thick, and Amazon has the best price I could find, even better than using a store coupon. Good luck with your projects!
