Durable and does what it says. Has worked perfectly with my large dog. Highly recommend!
**UPDATE (Original Review Below) - I have had this bowl for about 10 months now, and I can say I am VERY impressed with the durability. We sometimes feed the dog outside and when we do, he tends to carry the bowl off into the yard to chew on when he gets done eating. He has not been able to damage the bowl at all, unlike most of the other things he owns. It has also proven itself to be dishwasher safe as it indicates in the product description. I run it through the dishwasher every week or two (when it looks like it needs it since we only feed dry food), and I have not noticed any deterioration. I am definitely still happy with this purchase and would recommend it.I would definitely recommend this bowl. I purchased one for my 75 lb boxer mix who would inhale an entire bowl of food in under a minute. This has slowed him down to about five minutes which is much better and I've been able to feed him less since he isn't inhaling it before he feels full. Also, the bowl has so far been very durable. He is strong and loves to chew things so I expected him to get frustrated and just flip the whole bowl over to get the food out and/or chew up the bowl. After having the bowl for about a month neither has happened. The plastic is strong enough that he can't chew through it and heavy enough that he can't push the bowl around or flip it. Very happy with this purchase and will probably buy a second one for my other dog who isn't such a fast eater but is jealous of the other dog's cool bowl. Also, the company that makes this bowl is awesome. I haven't had any issues with the bowl but they were great to follow up after my purchase just to make sure I was happy. I wish more companies were like that. If you have a dog that eats to fast or just needs some mental exercise then buy this bowl. You won't be disappointed.

Ideal for bloat prevention and weight management!
WOW! First off, if you're looking for a bowl to increase the amount of time it takes your dog to eat, look no further - I went through many before deciding to go with this one, and its AMAZING.As a new owner of a 55 lb rescued Boxer, I was astounded when I saw how quickly he scarfed his food - I mean, like it was going out of style. I'd turn around, hear a sound akin to that of a bird flying through the engine of a 747, and boom, all gone. Despite his goofy grin, I had a feeling that couldn't be a good thing (and likely a result of his traumatic childhood) so I investigated.Turns out 'bloat' is a serious problem in many dogs, most especially Boxers, and comes from eating too much too quickly. The extra air and gas build up causes some serious issues and can be extremely harmful, so I knew I needed a solution.Looking at other products, the price was evident in the cheap manufacturing - not so here. Yes, its a bit pricier, but that's because its well designed and super durable! Honestly, I swear he enjoys it. Turns meal times into a game - and extends them to at least 10 minutes, if not 20 depending on just how dedicated he is.So - if you've got a veritable hoover of a pup, this bowls for you.

Could Be Dangerous; Perhaps Not For All Dogs
I had ordered two, one for each of my Malinois. I sent one back right away because one of them got too fixated and frustrated in trying to get the pieces that lodge between the parts on the bowl. I kept this second bowl for the other Mal and have been using it for a little over three months, two-time per day feeding. Occasionally I have to take a fork and dig out morsels because she seems to "fight" to get them when they get stuck. This morning, we found some pieces of the bowl, and the hole they came from. The pieces are VERY sharp; I'm thankful she didn't swallow them. I would not recommend for avid eaters, which ironically is what this is designed for.

SLOW YOUR DOG'S CHUGALUGGING HER FOOD
Our 5-month old pit is a gobbler. After every meal was wolfed down, she immediately got hiccups. We bought a little 'maze' bowl which didn't hold much food and didn't really do much to slow her roll. I also didn't like that it was plastic, and really hot water seemed to wilt it a bit. She needed no transition to this much bigger bowl! It's almost 12 inches in diameter and quite deep, so her little tongue gets a workout finding every last bit of kibble. She throws food all over her mat attempting to get it all, so having a mat is a necessity with kibble. That said, she eats much slower now, and I'm thrilled this bowl isn't plastic. Although new, it seems very sturdy. Hiccups? Oh yeh--still. sigh*

Relatively intelligent dog gets owned by this bowl
My dog's name is Nibbler. She eats like a vacuum. It's a scene. This bowl replaced another slow feed bowl on which she had cracked the code. She was still eating faster than our other dog that uses a normal bowl. I gave this a try because it looked like it could teach her a lesson. It did. She now eats at a pedestrian pace like a normal dog. Now if only this bowl could keep her from running away. Eh maybe Paul and Sarah can come up with another tool for that (this small business seems to have very caring owners btw). Give it a try, it's certainly a quality product, is made from renewable material, and if you're pet is a bit vain and full of themselves in their eating practices, this should put them in their place.

This is a serious bowl. I'll be testing away on various dog.
I foster dogs and it had to happen sooner or later. That awful gagging sound that sounds a lot like a death rattle. Instead a shamefaced very hungry dog has choked and coughed kibble all over the floor.Sigh, i could go to the shelter and ask for a slow feed bowl but sometimes trying out all their models to find one that works is simply a trial. So now I own this one and the dog a 45 lb Australian Shepard (with long face and pointy snout spends 15 minutes eating instead of his moderate 45 seconds. I'm afraid this dog doesn't like food challenges. Working for any food isn't in his lexicon and working for his meal? He was disgusted.I'm amazed he can get his tongue to get all the kibble. I can't reach some of those pieces with my fingers and use a spoon handle to get to it.Cleaning isn't alway so easy without a dishwasher. Sure I soak it clean but getting in there to wipe it down? Requires a very thin cloth or paper towel and some patience. There will be dogs to come and I'm sure to try this out. The rating may easily go up or down.So far, I've only tried this on one dog. Since I'm fostering I'm sure there will be others.

It worked well but I decided to try a different one with more of a maze look to it as i thought my dog would think it was fun to
My Shih Tzu has been using a different type of slow feeder bowl since he was 6 months old. It was the type which has 4 bumps in the bottom. It worked well but I decided to try a different one with more of a maze look to it as i thought my dog would think it was fun to eat from. He absolutely loves it and cant wait for his food so he can have a game chasing his food around the bowl. The first time he used it it took him almost 20 minutes to eat his meal, now he is down to 10 - 15 minutes and still loves eating from it. I recommended it to a friend who has a Labradour who inhales his food and she has ordered one.

Excellent product
This has managed to extend the dogs' feeding time from less than a minute flat to about 5 or 6 minutes. Bought it 'cos one of my shelties is regurgitating food and this should help. Also going to feed them 4 times daily instead of twice (same amount). I'm hopeful that this will help stop the regurgitation. An update just short of a year after purchase……..I still think this an excellent product but although my dogs are fed dry kibble, you still need to clean the dish. Someone said that this is not necessary with dry food. Do not believe it. It would be totally unhygienic not to wash it fairly regularly…I'm not saying every day but say once a week or so. And that's the rub. It is very difficult to clean properly. I find myself soaking them (2) in boiling water with domestos in it. That's reasonably successful and then I wash it with fairy liquid….all by hand. Not ideal but despite this I think it is an excellent product. (I have 2 Shetland Sheepdogs) and they are blessed with longish snouts.

Fantastic dog bowl.
Wow! This fantastic dog bowl is everything it promised to be. It is big and feels VERY tough. We sprinkled the dry dog food in as advised and shook the bowl a little to make sure it went into all the nooks and crannies - of which there are many! Our rescued greyhound/staffie cross had up to this point been hoovering up his food so quickly that we were totally amazed. However, when we gave him his food in the new bowl it really slowed him down as he had to work to get all of it out. He stopped a couple of times but soon came back and finished the job. Well done Simply Pets, this one is a real winner and worth every penny.

Slow feeder dog bowl
The concept of the slow feeder is brilliant , which is why I rated it 5 *as it stops 1 of our young Border terriers from gobbling their food , that’s my positive view . On the down side I should have read the small print , as the bowl is too huge , another point is that the dog is getting very frustrated with such a vast area to eat in & is constantly pushing the bowl all around our tiled floor . Tried using on a piece of nonslip rug & a rubber dog mat , but it still moves everywhere . I’m having to sit & hold the bowl in my lap whilst the dog eats , which I think is defeating the object as we have 5 other dogs which also need feeding . I think a smaller bowl is required .

Does exactly what I hoped it would.
This is simply brilliant. We are training our new dog (rehomed, 22month old Labradoodle, bit apprehensive and timid of new things and situations) and so have reduced her meal size to balance out all the treats she is getting. She used to gulp down her standard meal and I wanted to slow down her rate of eating so she didn't notice the smaller food portion. I wasn't sure how she'd react to this bowl but she loved it from the moment it came out of its box. It's a decent size, probably a little large for a puppy but perfect for her. It now takes her a bit longer to eat all of her food but she is more engaged at mealtimes possibly because she has to work to get her food. I really like this bowl and can highly recommend it.
